Thank you so much for this! My profile didn't have any of the preset themes but the guest profile did and I didn't know what to do about that until I watched this video and learned I could factory reset the themes in a profile, thanks!
Hi Nick. Still loving your videos (Even more now I own a gorgeous 2020 CLA) but might it be worth while adding which MBUX you are using in the video name as I'm going insane looking for things only to find out I've got a previous version and not NT7???
Thank you glad you enjoy them! Sadly this video you commented on was before MBUX NTG 7 even existed 😅 so there was only one. I started covering Mercedes back in 2020 but of course since then a few years later there is a newer version. I do mention that in newer videos now because there are different generations 👍🏼
@@npoleary Thanks Nick. I will try to double check as indeed, you do point out to look out for the newer steering wheel being a give away. Keep up the great work
Hey Paul, I guess this just varies from manufacturer to manufacture. Mercedes have opted for a profile selector on the inside as opposed to keys with information on them. Just depends on your preferences to be honest 🤓
@@npoleary there's no reason why it can't be a software option & then people can choose to use it or not. Pretty simple to do & I can't think of a reason why someone wouldn't want to use this. If you already have electric seats as an option & especially if you have a short and tall driver regularly using the car it is annoying that you have to lean across the seat to change the profile before you can get in.
Brilliant, Nick - and timely, too! I picked up my 2021 E63S AMG earlier this week and am working through my list of minor mysteries. I got the dashcam working today, so that's one down. :-)
Hi Nick!!. I have a question about profiles. When I first create my profile, I didn’t know about synchronization of profiles but what I’d like to do is copy my initial car settings to the app settings so I can see the actual picture in my Mercedes me app. If I jump into my car and select the profile linked to my account all previously load selections change. Is it possible to copy my current car settings into my Mercedes me account profile?. Many thanks again for your instructive videos!.
Hey Jose, possibly but it should auto sync only if…your car is compatible. Sadly not all Mercedes can do it. 4mins 46 sec in this video for the profile pic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F6bOERe0Kk8.html On the profile selector on MBUX, check under the settings part there and see if you have “Automatically Synchronise Profiles”
Hi Nick 🔝 videos keep doing more 💪🏼GREAT JOB!!! I got new A class premium plus saloon 🤭 And I was wondering if I can watch video on the left screen 🤔 RU-vid or different from pen drive?
Thank you 🙏 😊 Oh I’ll try and keep them coming! Ah awesome! Very nice 👍🏼 Unfortunately no, you can’t watch RU-vid videos on there...but if you have code 549 on your spec sheet you might be able to. Code 549 is basically included with Augmented Reality, so if you have that then you might be able to. Other than that, video playback is not advertised anywhere so you might be better off just trying it or speak to your local dealership to get a copy of the spec sheet. Hope that helps!
Nick ,when in electric mode at what speed would the petrol engine kick in bid? For the miles i do it would be tjst drastic if i drove most of the week on electric??😉
On my C Class, when I log on to my profile a button comes up on the Home screen that allows me to switch the heated seat on. My wife's profile doesn't have it. What is weird is that in settings there doesn't seem to be a function to switch the seat on via the screen, only by the door button. Or is this me missing something?
Ah that could because you’re using Zero Layer Hold the home button and you can toggle between the two views So the 2nd profile user probably chose the classic view 👍🏼
Hi Nick, great video. I received C300 e (2022). I can create new user, but there was already profile named "no user profile". I have no options to delete it. Can you please guide me. thanks
Thanks Hakan! I’ve not heard of “no user profile”, there’s “Guest” that I’ve seen before but if it’s similar, you can’t delete that one as it’s built in
I believe on MBUX NTG 6, the account that the car is connected to will upload a single profile pic but others that it’s shared with will not. MBUX NTG 7 will do multiple profiles pictures I’ve noticed.
Thanks, Nick - I was planning to ring up my dealer to find out how I could get my settings to properly synchronise in our new EQC - now I don't need to!
can you sync your profile with the key so as soon as the car recognizes the key you use it can move the seats as soon as you grab the door handles or press unlock to open the car
No sadly Mercedes don’t offer synchronisation with keys (not as far as I’ve seen anyway) But they offer memory seats, for up to 3 people and on some newer cars, profiles up to 7 people which again on some models will memorise the seats too.
Hey Nick, thanks for the videos, very helpful now I have a 2024 C 220d here in Spain. Question on this video… I share the car with my other half, I have Mercedes me on my phone, all good. Can I only add her as a user or would you get a better experience having the app on her phone too, assuming that’s possible? TIA
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! Yes if you both drive and want your own settings probably best to. So the 2nd user would need to download the app and sign it with their own email and then you share the car to them as a co-user (if that makes sense). You’re both signed in on the app on your own emails 🤓
As long as you have a profile picture on the app, if the car can do it, it’ll pull the picture through. I’ve seen that some models will do it and some sadly won’t due to the multimedia system generation that they have. It will almost definitely work on models that have MBUX NTG 7 (gen 2) or above. One’s with sparkles for the Hey Mercedes voice assistant when it’s in use. But another thing make sure that it’s linked to your Mercedes me account too! 👍🏼😎
Thank you! Depends on the car, when setting it up some models allow you to save to profiles but some are only on the door. As a general rule of thumb I think I’ve only seen it on the latest generation multimedia systems. Depends on the spec of the car etc so might be best if you chat with Mercedes and they can let you know 🙏
Losing my mind; just bought a used ‘18 A200 and the app is asking me to “connect profile” to enable personalisation…but the MBUX doesn’t show the option to “synchronise” my profile! Any tips?
Oh how strange…not sure what to suggest if you’ve spoken to Mercedes. Is it a car with MBUX? Touchscreen? It might be that the profiles were introduced on future models. I started my channel back in 2020, they were there then when I first started producing videos but might not have profile synchronisation prior to that.
@@npoleary 100% MBUX yes, possibly not able to handle the additional features but I assumed this would be included in updates. I’ve raised a case with Mercedes me customer services so will have to see what happens!
Hi Nick, excellent video as usual. I picked up my GLE in December and everything was explained and set up but I was suffering from input overload. One question, how do you change your profile picture. Thanks Steve
I had already done that but it hasn’t changed on my car. Auto sync every time for rest of my changes but not my profile picture. Thanks again super quick response
can i map my driver profile to the keyfob .. so when i enter with my keyfob it can adjust the memory seat and other setting for me .. I am using a GLA45 2023
No sadly not, Mercedes just have a main key and spare key. Profiles are completely separate. Although I have heard a rumour they might do this in future models so we’ll have to see!
@@npoleary That`s a shame Nick, as I was going to ask the same question. My 2017 BMW 730 was able to do it and thought Mercedes would as well. Very helpful video as always. 👍
Awh thank you! Well if I know the answer I’ll always try and help! 🙏 I have a personal aim (where I can to reply to people within 24hrs (this one was a couple of mins 🤗 haha)
Hello mate. Thanks for this video. Can I ask you if the profile can limit the pairing with the right phone ? For instance me and my wife have a different profile , but once I select my profile and my wife’s phone is nearby the mbux connects with her mobile phone instead of mine ! Is it possible to limit this ? For instance my profile equals my mobile phone and vice versa for hers ?
Sadly no phones are separate to profiles When both are connected though, you can choose which one is the main and which was is the secondary through the device manager. So on the car, HOME, PHONE and then the BLUETOOTH symbol near the bottom 🤓 if I remember
@freaKedsemog oh right haha Yeah if she was the last person to drive (or it was connected to) then yes you would need to change it. Same in my car with my partner’s. I’ll jump in and suddenly Taylor Swift comes on 😂
HI NICK, can you let me know, please , if you can change the seat positions using different profiles? that's something I really miss in my mercedes c300 de, i have that facility in the Passat using different keys, so my wife and I we simply open de car door with our own key, the seats move right away to our favorite position,,,thank you
Hey Antonio, it depends on your model of Mercedes but for most of them, each profile saves memory 1,2 & 3 per profile. So person one, has their own memory 1,2 & 3 Person two on their own profile has another memory 1, 2 & 3. Hope that makes sense!
Hi Nick ,with only doing approx 20 miles a day to work & back home ,would it be worth getting the driving assistant package??driving 5mile on 70mph A road ,then mainly 30/40 mph roads through town ??it works out an extra £26 p/month to have ?
Honestly it’s an amazing package, it’s extremely rare in the UK so if you did have it, you’d have no problem selling it! 😅 The main feature of the package is Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC which maintains the desired distance to the car in front. All of the other features add to enhance that experience, like blind spot assist, route based speed adjustment, steering assist, the list goes on! Personally you’ll get the most use from it mainly on dual carriageways or motorways. Have you seen my video on it? I’m sure you might have: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LEqM2FqUIa8.html
My husband and I have separate profiles, but whenever one of us changes something it changes both profiles. Any idea why or how to fix this? We have a large height difference so this causes big issues particularly with the HUD
Hey Azarial, the profiles don’t save every setting on the car but they do save quite a few things. For seat preferences it depends on the model so Mercedes would be able to let you if yours will save seats between profiles. Most models will only save them via the memory buttons on the door.
@@npoleary thanks for the quick reply! It is actually the cockpit and HUD that change, seats because of the button on the door wasn’t really an issue, but having the height of the HUD change is a huge pain. We have a GLC 43 AMG with everything but the driver assist package. So I can’t see why it wouldn’t save the cockpit settings like you showed in the video. Just figured I made some silly mistake setting it up, and when we got our car they didn’t even know how to adjust the HUD when I asked so I figured you were likely to know more than the dealer 🙂
Hey Azarial, ah okay 🤓 I know some cars can save settings but it varies across them all so sorry don’t know which ones exactly can save that and which one’s can’t as there are so many variations etc
@@npoleary ah I went through more videos to try and figure it out, and incase this happens to someone else this is what it was. The dealer made a profile for my husband, but didn’t sync it with the car. So when he made a profile in the car it only saved locally. My sync got interrupted causing mine to also sync locally. So neither account was saved on the Mercedes me app. I fixed mine by creating a temp profile that brought the option to sync onto my account, then selected my main profile. My husband would need to delete the car and re-add it, as despite us deleting the profile the dealer made, that wasn’t set up, it won’t let him add a different profile to his account. My one concern is he’s the main user of the app so would his deleting the car mess up my account?
Ah it could be that the profile was made before Mercedes me activated and synced in the car Don’t worry any profile you load up and delete in the car won’t affect Mercedes me parings etc
Thank you! Now these days it depends on the multimedia system so I might make a video about it. I’ll have to visit my local dealer again I think for that one! 😅 Basically if you have MBUX Gen 1 (also known as MBUX NTG 6, ones primarily with a touchpad and wired Apple CarPlay) then you just log in to the profile first, tap on the profile manager then tap delete. If it’s the newer MBUX gen 2 or gen 3 (MBUX without touchpad or wireless CarPlay etc) then you go onto the app and delete the shared do user or ask the other person on their app and delete the car from there. Hope that makes sense!
Thanks for this. I just dont understand why it does not save / remember my Dynamic Select. Everything is use the car is set to the default Comfort 😞. Why cant it save my favorite setting which is Sport?
Got my a250e few weeks ago and im learning so much from your videos. Do you know if its normal for active brake assist to be unavailable or partially available (function limited display on the instrument)? the car has only been driven 265 miles so far.
Hi Peter, Mmm, Based on how new your car is I’d probably say probably not. However the only reason that it can come on is if the radar is obstructed by road film, snow, sleet etc. But I should add, it would have to be really really dirty for this to happen. So honestly I don’t think it would be this as yours is so new. I would probably advise speaking with your local dealer and they can check it out 🤓
It would be nice to have a video about EQC in winter conditions. Eg Preheating - is power used from the battery or charger? - when and for how long are seats and steering wheel heated by preheating? Is the battery also heated? Can you read the battery temperature?
Hey Finn, Great suggestion! I’ll add it to the list! Got so many ideas from everyone for new videos now it’s great! Keep em coming! 🤓 To help you now though, the EQC’s Pre-Entry Climate Control uses your high voltage battery unless it is plugged in. It’ll typically stay on for approx 50 minutes depending on the state of your battery in the first place. It’ll turn on the auxiliary heating, heated seat and if applicable a heated steering wheel. Also the mirrors heat and rear window which is great. I have heard the battery does have it’s own temp controlling system but there is no way to see the operation of this. Where possible it will manage the temp to normal operating levels.
Hey Marco, You can’t open them, but you can unlock the doors via an app called Mercedes me. You’ll have to double check to see if it’s available in Italy 🤓
Morning Nick ,yes I've seen your video, it looks a great package?do you just turn them all on ,n away you go?when i get the car I'll have to ask you how to set it up 👍🤣👍
Hi Nick, do we know if the Heating feature on the Mercedes Me app will ever be released in the UK? I purchased it thinking it was available and was told it isn’t currently.
Hey Santa Cruz, if you have a hybrid or electric car you can turn the heating on remotely because it has an auxiliary heater. Unfortunately remote heating isn’t available on cars without auxiliary heaters like diesel or petrol models. I don’t think this is ever going to change to be honest, because if your app had the ability to turn the engine on remotely, a theft could occur :( Would be cool to have a feature like that, but I don’t think it will happen to be honest
Hi Nick, thanks for your useful video. You said that the profile changes many car settings such as lights, dashboard, radio stations and much more. Is the seat position also stored in the profile ??
Nick. I followed your instructions on creating a profile using the M me app but instead of replacing the blank profile the dealer initially created I now have two profiles. Is there a way of making the M me profile the default one and do I have to go through the process all again of matching this to the original defaults for Media, Nav etc etc? Thanks.
Hey Paul, it depends on your model of Mercedes and the year as some models integrate with the app more than others. If you’ve created another profile, just delete the duplicate one from the profile selector in the car🤓
Hey Nick love your videos , better info than my local Mecedes Dealer , I have a 2020 GLE400D , how to you add a co-users picture to the profile icon , I have done mine (loaded pic on to Mym) my wife is a co user , she has a Myme account, her pic is on her Myme account , but just cant seem to be able to load it to her profile ..any help greatly appreciated
Hey C William, I haven’t personally added a Co-User’s 2nd picture before but I would have l though it would have been the same way as you said. Have you got the automatic profile sync enabled in the profile selector on the car?
@@npoleary Hi Nick , thanks for reply, I'm located in Australia...yes have got the automatic sync profile selector on in the car..agree should be the same way I do it..it appears you can have only one MM account in the car as when I try to load up MM with my wifes (co user) MM account gives message that it not authorized for the car..my MM account is
That’s such a good idea! I think that could be the end goal for Mercedes. At the moment I’ve only seen that you make a profile in the car, link via the app but haven’t found a way to sync it across cars. If that does appear, I’ll be sure to make a video on it!
Hi Nick. Is there any way to copy the profile settings from one existing user and transfer to another existing user, to save having to set everything up separately?
@tonyloughman4842 ah that’s easy then Just create a new profile and it’ll ask you if you want to transfer settings of the profile you’ve already got loaded up 🤓
When I first got the car I made the mistake of not using the profile in MercedesMe and creating another profile which I have used since, so all my previous destinations etc are stored in that one. Since watching you video, I wanted to use the profile with my photo from MercedesMe, but utilising the settings from the other profile. Guess I will just have to manually set things up again. Thanks for your help@@npoleary
I guess it was my fault as when I first got the car I set up a profile as Tony which has since saved all my settings. But my MercedesMe profile where my photo is stored has sat in the background. Having rewatched your video I wanted to use the profile with my photo attached but alas, no settings saved, hence my question. If I set up a new profile I will have the same issue, so guess I will have to manually transfer each setting, but thanks for your help @@npoleary
Thanks for another usefull video! I have a question regarding the navi. I have work and home saved as favorites. Almost everytime I drive at all hours the navi sets for work, but never for home when I leave work... How can I make it take me home when I leave work?
Hey veggis, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! is this the commuter route function? Where it automatically starts navigating you silently to work? I believe this function is only for work, haven’t seen it for home as well.
Hi Nick. Thanks as always for the video. How can i set a PROFILE PICTURE? I've seen it in some other videos (NOT your videos)... I set my profile picture on the app, but it doesn't show it on the Car, even if the sync is on
Have you tried visiting the “Manage Driver Profile” on the Mercedes me Website? Mercedes-Benz main website My Mercedes me Account (top right) My Vehicles Click on your car Then Manage Driver Profile Just a thought, it could be something in there. If you don’t think get anywhere, I’d use the help function on the app and get in contact with them directly. Hopefully they can sort it out for you!
Hi Nick, another great video. I have an MBUX question. I've saved my work address as "Work" in Favorites. When I ask Hey Mercedes to navigate to work, it tells me that there is no such entry saved. Also, I get the Commute function when driving from work to home, but not when driving from home to work. I cannot get the MBUX to recognize my "Work" entry. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks David! Mmm that’s strange...I haven’t ever come across that before. Not that this should make a difference, just wondering have you created a profile with your name on MBUX? Failing that I’d try deleting the work address and set it again, next step reset the system. If this doesn’t work then I’d give your local dealership a call and they can book it in and have a look. If you need help resetting, just message me back and I can let you know how to do it.
@@npoleary I have saved a profile with my name. I've tried deleting the Work address and reentering it several times with no luck. I'll ask the dealership to look at it. Thanks!
Hey Tom, no Mercedes don’t offer personalisation like that, both keys are the same. So when you get in (either key) just press your name on the screen and everything will load back up the way you left it.
hi is there a way to copy settings from one user to another, as my me app synced to the car, but was under new user, and my original user is a separate user
Hi Kevin, the only way to do this is when you create a new profile, you get the option to do it then. Unfortunately you can't copy settings over once you've created one.
Hi Brando C, you can adjust your preferences of contact on the Mercedes me app or the Mercedes me portal under the communication section. Very important notifications like for example your 12V battery, if it reaches a critical state this will still usually send through
Haha no! Definitely not! The current GLA shape only came out 9 months ago 🤓 Unlike smartphones which change every year, cars due to their complexity at factory & their production lines have a much longer life cycle. It’s typically 6-7 years with a facelift halfway in between. So based on previous models, the GLA won’t have any update until 2023 - 2024 ish.
@@npoleary Morning Nick ,Could you tell me if your not in electric mode how do you get around 256 miles per gallon approx ?also could you drive in electric/petrol at the same time 🤔 cheers for your help 🙏
Hey Ian, this is the thing with hybrids the whole “miles per gallon” thing...it solely depends on the actual journey you do. For example on Monday, I had the opportunity to take a hybrid out for filming. At the end of the first bit the trip computer said 388 MPG. The reason for this is that I was on electric for virtually the whole time but there was just a small bit where the engine kicked in. If I was on electric the whole time then it would have read 999+ MPG. But as I used a tiny bit of fuel but the rest of the journey was electric, I covered more miles on electric. MPG is miles travelled per gallon of fuel used. If there is another source of propulsion like electric in this case pushing you down the road, you’ll be travelling further but not using any fuel. So your miles travelled by gallons of fuel used will go up because you’re not using any. The more your run on electric, the higher your MPG because you won’t be using any fuel if you run on electric :) I hope that makes sense! Oh and with plug in hybrids you run on electric or fuel, not both together...unless you accelerate really fast 💨
Thanks @nick. I've been trying to figure out how to auto switch the profile based on the key. My wife's profile moves the seat way ahead and I can't even get in without moving the seat back manually before I can switch the profile to mine, which sometimes takes long 30 seconds to happen.
Hi Webber 1, unfortunately there is no auto profile switch via key in Mercedes. In this instance I would utilise the memory seats and program each other’s seats or even a “get in & out position” on number 3 or something. Just a thought as that might be quicker and speed up that process for you 🤓
@@npoleary Thanks so much for replying and putting out consistently informational and quality content. I think this is a big miss for Mercedes. I would think it's very easy to implement technically and hope that they do so. Thanks again.
@@npoleary Thanks Nick, but there is no option to delete the profile even after loading. Reading forums - it looks like this can only be reset by the dealer remotely as it was a vestige from the previous owner.
Hey Mark, awesome! Load up your profile, then tap the profile selector (top right), tap on the 3 dots next to your name, scroll to the bottom and press Delete profile. Hope that helps!
Thanks again Nick for this video. I have an EQC and wanted to save my drive style from comfort to eco. Would also like to save my recuperating setting D-- . Both setting goes back to default.
Ah yes I wish you could save those but unfortunately due to emissions regulations all cars have to start in their default mode (even if you have a profile) Hopefully it’ll change in the future! 🤞🏼
Agreed! But it’s something all cars do 😕 They have to start in their default mode. I wish they’d start in Eco too or Max range as that’s quite clever on your EQC!
Hi Nick, I can't seem to get the MBUX to show me text messages on the screen. I can send text, get an audible alert that I have a text but can't see how to access and nothing on screen. Android user. Have you a video on this? Cheers
Hey Keith, I know spec can vary greatly between countries so it may not be available but...there’s a prompt when you first link the phone. Androids typically have 3 when connecting to a Mercedes for the first time. 1) Pair 2) Allow Phonebook Access 3) Allow Message Access Rather annoying if your finger touches anywhere on the phone screen, it’ll dismiss the message and you won’t see it again, maybe try and de-authorise your phone / disconnect and re-connect?
Great video! Two questions: 1. Can I set a profile based on the key fob being used? 2. Can I prevent it from forgetting my seat setting whenever anyone changes the seat settings when they sit in my car?
Hey David, no sadly not. Mercedes owners often have multiple drivers, friends / family etc. As there are only two keys, this would limit it to two profiles. Having just the profiles allows up to 7 users. It depends on your specification so to be sure I’d double check with your local Mercedes dealership to be sure. I know the C-Class 2022 & S-Class 2022 can do this to the profile. If it’s others then it may be memory on the door if you have it.
I feel offended and outraged at Mercedes!!! - I identify as a frog and looking at the profile options there is only male and female avatars. I demand Mercedes to fix this
