Salamina is the largest city and capital of the island of the same name. Its population is 25,370 inhabitants, according to the 2011 Census.
It is the seat of the Municipality of Salamina, as it emerged with the implementation of the Kallikratis Program, and includes the entire island. The city is located on the western side of the island, at the mouth of the bay of Salamina.
It is one of the largest island settlements in Greece. One of the most important attractions of the island is the chapel of Prophet Ilias, with its panoramic view and the best sunset of the island.
