This was a fantastic video. We had a clicking noise happening on startup that would just keep clicking, AND the resistance wouldn’t go up or down. It was the tension motor, STUCK. I cut the zip tie, then adjusted it as you did, voila! It worked and stopped clicking all in one. All of the other videos gave terrible angles, and took the entire unit apart. I really appreciate your simple and quick fix.

I ordered the exercise bike on January 7th and it arrived on February 12th. ru-vid.comUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The box must have been tossed around quite a bit because one whole side of the styrofoam was destroyed, and the other side foam was cracked. The Two zip ties holding the handlebars had broken loose and handlebars were loose in the box. There are two small holes in the foam on the right side of the handlebars, I guess from rolling around inside the box. Assembly was straight forward and easy. I am 6 ft 5 in 220 lb and the handlebars and seating positions fully adjustable and work great, I'm getting full leg extension. The noise level is very, very low and acceptable. The adjustment knob for the pressure on the flywheel works well also. The exercise bike is very well made, sturdy and easy move around. This is my first exercise bike and will keep me in shape over the winter. Update 3/19/21: when removing the sticker from the wheel, make sure you remove any sticker glue also. I thought mine was clean but I was getting a slight noise from the glue. Once cleaned off, its super quite. Also the monitor didn't work, tracked it down to the pickup device wasn't in the hole. Once I moved in the hole, it works fine. Do NOT put it in until it touches or it will damage the pickup.

This seems to be a common problem. I bought one of the newer ones and, lord, resistance at level one was like resistance 15 on the one at the gym. I guess that is why the machine came with two Allen wrenches and a small wrench (they probably figure the customer will have to adjust resistance on their own). It would have been nice if it came with a good set of instructions for using them. Thankfully, Spencer Long, has come through. Thanks, mate:)
Very helpful. Extra tip. To pull back more and reduce the resistance further, I used a tie strap to snake and pull on the cable back to the controller. Perhaps for some, they can get away without loosening the metal coupler at all and just do that. I did both. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for posting this. My 7/8" crank axle sheered off. After welding it back onto the drive plate the belt was misaligned. Your video showed me that the bolts are driven from the inside out. I figured only a tool would put bolt s where you couldn't get to them so I have mine in backwards. Thanks for the video.
Followed the same basic procedure for my Pro-Form (Golds Gym) Cycle Trainer 300Ci (appears they all use the same basic magnetic mechanism) and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the guidance.
Thanks for posting this video. It led me to the problem on this brand new Proform Carbon EL but I still cannot fix it. The white plastic device in the tension flywheel is all the way at the top while the display says it is at resistance level 1. I've played around with the cable and the tensioner that you adjusted but there is just too much slack in the cable. I've tried emailing, chatting and calling Proform but get no response from Customer Support. Going to have to see if I can come up with another way to adjust it.

Quiero compartir que mi elíptica tiene apenas 2 años con un registro de 300 ejercicios en mi Ifit, esperaría que tuviera mayor vida útil, pues ahora que la desarme encuentro que la banda también se encuentra gastada y tendré que cambiarla. my elliptical is a similar style to this one, and i lubricate the rails that the walking gliders roll down. i use a silicone based lubricant and wipe it with a cotton cloth afterward to get excess grease off.
Thanks for the video I have a Nordic track and it is extremely similar. Of course I broke the piece that holds the metal part in (why they would use plastic to hold it in is crazy) but luckily I just tripled up on those zip ties and that was enough to hold it down. Thanks for the help:)
I have a Proform elliptical, the resistance won’t even change at all. On the lowest setting. I took the cover off and the lever things all the way down. Can get it to move when I change the resistance on the screen. Does this sound like I need a new resistance motor?
Hey man, total long shot, but I have a ProForm Elliptical I just assembled the other day, brand new. The right side wheel/pedal is not aligned correctly and comes off the track (to the inside). I have no idea why, everything was setup perfectly. I can only guess somehow something got bent. Any idea how to fix?
I having the exact opposite problem, my bike doesn't have enough resistance on the highest setting. I was hoping to do hiit training, I guess I could pedal like maniac to raise my heart rate but I don't want to do that. I am looking for a hack to add resistance.
I was really hoping this would fix my problem. After initial adjustment, resistance felt reduced but as soon as I increase resistance and try to go back down, it did not go all the way back down to where I adjusted it. Ready to sell this hunk of junk 😭
Mine is getting power from the cord and the console is working fine until I try to change the resistance. I hear a constant humming sound from the area you are working on does anybody have an idea on what that noise is? I recently found the cord after 5 years. I usually workout on it without power.
That humming is probably the little motor operating the small cable that, in turn, pulls the magnets in the flywheel. I posted just before you. You might have a similar problem. Everything worked as it should. I just didn't have any resistance. The magnets were able to attract screws and washers but I could spin the flywheel with my hand even when it was at level 20. I thought maybe the magnets weren't as powerful as before. I wiped them down and tapped them with a screwdriver (because I was mad). Those flywheels are close to $200. I was going to look into re-magnetizing the magnets. I didn't want all the parts laying on my floor so I reassembled my elliptical. Well, guess what? It works again! I never use level 20 but it's nice to know my elliptical works like before. Hope this helps. As a footnote, I have a Proform Elliptical 6.0 ET.
My guess is you have the opposite problem that the video shows. At 2:06, he describes how he decreased the resistance as the magnets were too close to the flywheel causing too much resistance for his wife. In my case and maybe yours, the magnets are too far away from the flywheel to have any resistance at all, even at level 20.
You know the plastic piece inside the magnetic brake, the thing that goes up and down? Mine is broken and wont pull the magnets. Where can I get replacement part. Can someone help me please?
@@imnotinapush hey I found a fix for it, you have to use really strong adhesive and glue the part together, they sell stuff that bonds to plastic and becomes really hard like plastic itself. Thats what I did and it fixed the issue for me, not perfectly but I could work out again with resistance
Do those magnets in the flywheel/resistance mechanism lose their magnetic force? Everything seems to work as it should. There is no resistance at settings 0-20. I took everything apart and can clearly see the cable pull and push the magnets. What the heck is going on? That flywheel is almost $200. This has to be a simple fix.
Update! I took apart the flywheel that contains the magnets. It basically looks like a small drum brake one would find on an old car. Obviously the magnets never touch the flywheel. Not to get too technical (eddy current or Foucault's current and electromagnetism) but the magnets place resistance on the flywheel as you increase the level on the board. As for mine, the magnets would attract screws, washers and the flywheel apart from itself. While assembled and the level set to 20, I was still able to freely spin the flywheel. It felt the same resistance at level 1. The only thing I could think of would be the magnets losing their magnetic ability. I wiped the magnets and the flywheel with a cloth and reassembled the elliptical. It works like it did before. I wish I could tell you specifically how I fixed it. My guess is that maybe the metal arm that contains the cable got askew or it just needed an adjustment using the nut. If that didn't work I was going to re-magnetize the magnets. Either way, I wasn't gonna pay $200 or more for a flywheel. Bottom line, mine works again! Thanks for the video!
Sorry spencer. your fix wont work indefinitely. On your flywhell you can see the plastic piece chocking your metal pipe tension adjuster at top end is bending and will give in because of pulling stress. May be WELDING the metal pipe adjuster to the square metal plate underneath will prevent the adjuster from moving with the white plastic at the top. i got the same issue on my spin bike. this is deliberate on the part of manufacturers so we keep on buying an otherwise very useful equipment. oh i bought a 2nd spin bike until i fix the first one.
