Program car keys in Peugeot & Citroen using Diagbox and PP2000 (Peugeot Planet 2000)

Program or recode new and old car keys in Peugeot and Citroen.
When I bought my car I only had one car key for my Peugeot 307 (2007, 1.6 petrol version, TU5JP4 engine the facelift version). This video will show you how to program or recode your car keys in my Peugeot 307 using Peugeot Planet 2000 or PP2000 and also using Diagbox.
You would need the Diagbox OBDII interface that you can purchase from ebay or amazon for example. These interfaces only operate on Windows XP or Windows 7. It will not work on higher versions. I am using a macbook pro with parallels desktop virtual machine, but Windows laptop will work without a problem. A free virtual machine can be downloaded here: www.virtualbox.org
It is pretty easy to program your car keys. Make sure you put 2 keys in the number, not just one additional key. To synchronise the high frequency remote control afterwards, simply put in a key in the ignition, turn the ignition on and within 5sec press the locking button and hold it for 5 seconds. Switch it off and that remote will be synchronised.

They are not a straight forward replacement as one needs to file a groove in the blade, but not too difficult. The key is very good quality, heavy and solid.

It is Windows XP home edition, so 32bit and my diagbox is fairly old now with v5.29. It would also work with Windows 7 as well.

Got car key coded running again but didn't do bit at end to do locks they not working do I have to do whole lot again or simpler way please?

No, you do not need to do it again, only holding the lock key for 5 secs or so as in the video. Forgot what the procedure was.

I am a recent owner of a Citroen Grand C4 picasso 2016 model with a parking sensor issue. I also want to check for other possible errors stored. What version of diagbox do I need and what windows version do I require. The more i read about it on the Internet, the more i am getting confused. Different sites and sellers state it can only be installed on Windows XP Professional 32 bit, some say 64 bit. Some say Windows 7, 8 , 8.1 and 10 and has to be 64 bit. Some say you dont need Virtual machine, some say you do. As you seem quite experienced in using the interface and software. I was hoping you can guide me. I would really appreciate it 🙏 and look forward to your reply.

Many thanks indeed for the good words, I really appreciate them. Your 2016 might be a bit problematic, as PSA might have changed these diagbox devices and only being online, so not free. I think you may be OK, as that change I think was in ~2016 cars. Nevertheless, the Diagbox devices work with Windows 7 and of course XP. Now, you do not need any VM if you have a laptop with the Win7. Most people do not run these old windows machines, so hence one wants a VM to run these old ones. I run a VM as I am using Mac OS X on mine and easier for me to run VM with windows XP, but I know that it works with Win7. I think that Win 7 is the highest OS that can run the diagbox software. I do not think it matters if it is 64 or not, cannot quite remember, but I can check if my win7 is 32 or 64 bit. Hope that helps, but let me know for any additional questions.

Any key can be programmed this way, old or new, but make sure all keys are programmed at the same time.

For my Peugeot 307 I bought these: ebay.us/tYqQs5 . I do not quite remember, but maybe I filed flightly the groove of the blade to fit although the advert says straight replacement which might have been. This was quite a good key, heavy and solid and have not had a problem with it for about 1 year. It comes with the chip as well.

@@moremolecules That link is for a key shell only. No electronics/chip. Did yours come with a 'blank' chip that you thn programmed with PP2000?

@@tm2204 Yeah, I should have said that the link is for the shell only and my replacement thing came as a shell. You could buy the shell with the transponder as well, does not make a difference to the coding.

Yes, that is correct. You cannot just add another one, you have to re-program both keys or three.

Yes, they are different for each car. The car itself came with a key code card. Dealer could, I think, provide the code.

@@gz1719 The code is the same every time you want to do it for the same car. Normally these come with the car. As far as I know it is not easy to hack the code, but doable. If you do not have it, it is easier to get it from the dealership.

Yeah, I am not sure. I am not familiar with the F108, but I would venture a guess that it will not be possible (could be wildly wrong 🙂). Auto electricians use some sort of software to read the code, but I do not know what it is. I guess the code can be had from the dealership, but of course one has to pay.

Hi MRE molecules. Sorry for getting off topic. But I need your help. I have a Peugeot 207 with a 1.6 hdi engine. When i change the transmission level while driving, a pile of black smoke comes out and then disappears. Where could the defect be?

Heavy black smoke would mean either too much fuel and little air. Most likely there is little air coming. Is it at every gear change when you change and press the accelerator pedal? Maybe the EGR is sticking a bit or the wastegate is a little bit late to open up and let the turbo spin. Have you change the air filter lately? I would say plug it in in Diagbox or OBDII scanner and see if there are any error codes.

@@kouideraissaishak7431 Yeah, you have two for the EGR and glow plugs. I would not worry too much about the glow plugs, as they are only needed for very cold starts. You may need to see about cleaning or if that does not work replace the EGR valve. If you replace it then you need to recalibrate it with Diagbox interface. If I were you I would first open the EGR valve and give it a good clean and see if that changes anything.

These are different letters, you need the manufacturer's code rather than the transponder letters on the chip

Hi, my key has stopped working and now I am searching how to get a new one, my dealer is out of business and i have no key card, can I just go to any other citoren dealer and ask them to program me a new key or is the car now unusable?

Yes, any dealer will be able to do that, you do not need to go to your original one.

The key card goes with the vehicle. If it has been lost, only the dealership can help and give you the code.

@@nourilo5487 I mean the BSI compares the code supplied to the one it already has, but it is extremely difficult to get the actual code from the BSI. There are sites where if you pay you could probably get a useable code. Not too sure how it works though.

@@shakalpb1164 No worries, I try to reply whenever I can. I bought it quite some time ago (2012), so difficult to say how much it is now with inflation and all. I bought it for £110, but I bet it is a bit more expensive now. They are all the same, so whatever you get it will be the same cheap Chinese versions. I was just starting at the time with my car so bought a bit more expensive version, but now I know better, as they are the same.

I replaced a broken MFD (multi function display) on my 406 clupé with a working one, but now my audio controls under the steering wheel stopped working.. Is there any solution to it?? Please help 🙏 I would really appreciate it, man..

Not too sure, but they are unlikely to be related. I have replaced my MFD and I have not had any ptoblems. I have tried multiple ones due to fading issues, but my controls always worked.

Well , my old mfd faded out completely so i decided to replace it wit a new (used) one.. And the steering wheel controls stopped working.. when i plug in the old one , the controls work again.. 🤷‍♂️crazy I would also like to apologise for posting comments about a MFD in this video.. i just thought maybe you'd know. @@DonTuliosS No worries at all for posting here. Which controls are we talking about here, the cruise or the radio ones. To be honest, there should not be any difference. What replacement MFD did you buy and have you plugged it alright? Is it actually working the MFD and the controls not? I had installed 5 different on mine and they all worked without a problem. The 3-line ones, is yours 2 or 3-line MFD?

@@DonTuliosS I am not too familiar with the 406, but the displays are 2 lines or three lines in the older cars, mine including. Basically, is the MFD one finger height or two fingers kind of thing. In general, there is literally no return connection/data from the MFD to the car's computer, as far as I know. If you have a computer PP2000/Diagbox you can have a look for any settings in there, but I have not seen any. Is the replacement from 406?

The pin code generally comes with the car on a credit card like looking card. If you do not have it, probably the best options is to pay the Dealer to give you the code.

What are you talking about. This is my own car with my own keys that I re-programmed from scratch on video and they are working with the only code that comes with the car and that is the BSI pin code. What do you mean I pretend, that is rather insulting actually. I have previously deleted these keys by mistake and they would not start the car of course and that is the way to program keys for these cars of course.

@@zoranpaunovic4336 Yeah, not too certain how many times you can try. I believe that you can try many times, but difficult to guess the code. You may get locked for a limited amount of time, say 30min or something like that.
