This video demonstrates on a Jeep Commander. The process is the same for many other Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Volkswagen vehicles with a smart fob remote (fobik). The programming process is just as easy for a Chrysler / Dodge / Ram with a traditional style key and will be demonstrated in a coming video.

This worked exactly as described, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. I first had the new key FOB cut at Home Depot - there are many comments about how this is often the most challenging part of the entire process, but the employee was very helpful, and there were no issues. I tested the key in the mechanical door lock before leaving the store just to be sure. I then followed the instructions included in the kit/video, and had the new FOB programmed in 10 minutes. This was for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK.

Tried on a Commander, at first didn't work, just kept beeping. Had it set to dial position 1 according to the instructions. Saw a related issue in comments where tech support suggested dial position 2. Set it to 2 and it immediately programed the key and worked. Very happy that it worked and now have a second key.

Just used this product on my 2007 Jeep Commander. I was a little nervous because it didn't work originally on the dial number that the manual said (#1) but after calling technical support they had me try #2 and it worked right away. Saved me $70-100. Thanks!

Para el publico hispanohablante, este aparato funcionó perfectamente en mi Jeep Grand Cherokee del 2010. Es muy fácil de usar, me tomó solo 5 minutos leer las instrucciones y tardé menos de 2 minutos en programar la nueva llave. Me dieron presupuesto de $390 en la Jeep por una nueva llave, compré esta en Lowe's por $89. Ahorrarse $300 por una búsqueda de 30 minutos en internet no ocurre todos los días. Saludos!

Simple key has not been confirmed for 2008 Liberty yet. Looked like the 2008 uses the same chip - Phillips 46. But we don't know whether it will successful program your vehicle or if it might cause a problem. Sorry

If you have a regular key blade Turn key start, yes, key needs to be cut first. If you use the Fob to start the Jeep, no need to cut the emergency blade to Program it. We offer a Key By Photo service to make it easy so your key arrives cut for your vehicle! tomskey.com/pages/key-cutting-service

I have a two 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL (not a JK). I want to program all four FOB to one key/FOB. Does you unit allow all the four FOB to work on the two Jeeps? Second question one of the FOB I have may have fallen into bad persons hands and that is why I want the one remaining FOB to have the same code or ID as my other two.

Each Simple Key programmer will work for a single VIN and program up to 8 keys for that vehicle. It is not recommended to try programming the same fob to multiple vehicles. Simple Key will not erase lost fobs. To do that you will need to have a locksmith or dealership help.

I have a key fob that will start the Jeep but the lock and auto start won’t work. Will this product reprogram the old fob? And will the new fob activate the factory auto start?

If the old Fob worked before and you have changed the batteries, it will reprogram it. Y need one key that still starts the vehicle though. Occasionally a fob circuit board gets broken, in which case simple key can not make it work on the old Fob. But a new one should work fine

Yes, it will program a new key for you. If you check with the dealership to find out if your Jeep originally came with keys that had remote buttons, then this will get you buttons to lock/unlock the doors too. Or, just order a kit. It will at least get a key that starts the engine. And the buttons will work if your vehicle was manufactured with those remote functions. tomskey.com/collections/jeep-wrangler-2007-2018

Hello I recently bought the key kit but when I tried pressing the panic and lock button to get the blue light it doesn't light up I even bought a new 2032 battery .do I skip that step and go straight to programming? I have a 2010 jeep grand cherokee

If it's the key in the box with the programmer, the blue light should come on for the key activation step. If it's a separate Fob that came by itself, skip the first key activation step and go straight to key pairing

Sorry, this does not erase old keys. You need a dealer or locksmith to erase old keys. After that this can help program new ones though

Depend on the key and the vehicle. I'm not sure whether a key can be reused on these vehicles without some kind of reset procedure.

I have ordered one as it is definitely cheaper than a dealer. I just don't understand why it will only do 8 keys ? Once you use it for 1st time it marries it to that vechile only why not let it make endless keys why only 8? Some people keep vechiles a long time and as mentioned its mareied to that vechile not like you can run out and start making money with. Still nice product

Because my other key fob is broke there's no fixing it so if I require to have an initial key that is already programmed to my Jeep then I'm going to be screwed if I need to only use the one can you find that I saw in the simple keychain then that is great but if not it's going to be a disaster because I have no key fob at all even the dealership about the car from doesn't even have a backup key

As long as you have a key that starts your vehicle engine you can use Simple Key to make a spare key fob.

Sounds Great EXCEPT, This line in your description goes against what you have shown up to 2:48. You only need one working key to program a new smart key fob. ya see? I have only one key fob, but it's DEAD. so will this, or will it not work for me? to get two fobs, and an extra "Valet Key", will be over $400 at the stealership. PLUS No link to this miracle device in your description.

Looked it up, saw the prices. Not much better than the stealerships when you factor in waiting on the mail, and doing the time involved with the directions, and and the other hoops you have to jump through. I think I'll PASS

There's no technical reason why this device must 'marry' itself to your VIN or only generate 8 keys. I suppose they would sell less devices but still not cool to include a hardware lock.

The programmer reads the VIN number and becomes locked to the first vehicle it makes a key for. It can make several keys for that vehicle. But for a different vehicle you need to get another programmer

according to the web page once it is used on your vehicle it now becomes linked to that vehicle and it cannot be used for any other vehicle rendering it useless once you are done making keys for your vehicle.

It can only make keys for a single vehicle. But after you have made a key, sounds like it's done a great job for you. Most customers save $100 or more using our kits rather than paying a car dealership for another key
