Programming and following routes in the updated C160 Transall in Microsoft Flight Simulator

As you may have seen, the C160 Transall recently received a major update - adding all sorts of capabilities around cargo drops, and flares. Alongside that - and the subject of this video - it now has the capability of programming basic flights into the FMS, and using the autopilot to follow the route.
I spent quite some time looking to see if anybody else had figured it out yet - and found nothing - and then ran into the brick wall of the keypad on the FMS, which is undocumented. After something of an "aha" moment, everything fell into place :)
I will be returning again when I have more time to figure out the rest of it's capabilities, and to understand how to manipulate the data shown on the navigation displays.

Not being able to select a runway if there isn’t a STAR is a pretty big oversight. Sometimes direct is the best option.

What a great update, I love flying this plane. Real old school flying which makes a change to the airliners. I fly this or the 414 to change things up in the sim. Thanks for sharing.

It's unfortunate that the FMS doesn't work well with waypoints that share the same name (you can't make a selection of the one you want), and that approaches don't display if they have more than one transition (iirc it was if there was more then one transition option, it happened at 2 of the 4 airports I flew into since the update) meaning you cannot select a runway. Hopefully fixed in a hotfix, or a future update.

@@whammo11224 You can still do it with the GNS, and if nothing else load from the world map. Because other then these issues the plane is quite good. I am hopeful they fix it in a patch.

Yep - it's very restrictive. If you switch on the GNS 430 you can use it instead, and of course it does everything :)

a great aircraft, good work of Azurpoly, i flew some times with a fligth plan using the MSFS gear and the autopilot work correctly, following all the waypoints on the route, at final approach i dont flew any ILS approach, i set the NAV radios correctly, the way on fligth plan is active, and the GPS switch to VLOC correctly, but it in white color and not obtain the glide slope and dont change the altitude following the path..... why ???

Maybe it doesn't support those modes properly yet.

@@jonbeckett maybe, but on page 54 of the Transall Manual exist a reference for a GS1 mode in autopilot, this mode is "glideslope capture mode" ....

I've installed it, and looked at the cockpit, but haven't spent any great time in it. It doesn't have a lot you can fiddle with.

Hi, I have bought Azurpoly C160 yesterday from Sim Maker but it does'nt work. I can't figure out what the problem is. The on-board tablet does not turn on. The APU switch button cannot be used, the systems cannot be started. It's like a demo version. Please help me out because I like to use this program. Maybe the registration key is missing ? I have not received any. I wonder why is it not working. It was to expensive if it 's a demo version. Please give us technical advise. Many Thanks in advance

I honestly don´t know where to post this, but ill try this video. I purchased this game because i really like planes and aviation overall, but im highly starting to regret it. I create flight ingame, doesn´t matter if its vor to for, vfr direct or ifr, i often dont see any route on map (v key). that really pisses me off, because i create flight with approuchaes and departures, start my plane, get off and don´t see any route at all, so i quit the game. I purchased this plane as my first and propably last investment int this game, watched ur videos about it, tooday i decided im ready to go, everything was ok, i took off, turned autopilot on and radio navigaion button on AP didnt work :D Im done honestly. Takes so much fking time to just fly for fun and it doesnt even work. Same with atc, there is zero help in game with that. To make things clear, i like planes but i don´t know nothing about it, nothing about traffic, so i would like to play a bit realistic so i want to fly by points but then i dont see any on map. Iv seen several video tutorials on many things, but everytime i get on game next time i always feel frustrated.

Did I not show it in this video ?! :) The system within the aircraft works to an extent, but if you're expecting it to replicate the real thing completely, you're going to be disappointed :)

Oh a 4500+ fpm climb rate is absolutely possible on the C160 I have had the pleasure to ride on one thanks to family in the Air Force and witnessed a "tactical" take off 3500FPM + from the jump seat , I have seen them land on 400m strips too ! absolutely insane machine !

Hoping you may be able to shine some light. I really don't use Sim Brief. I use little Nav map. Flying from Rick Husband Amarillo Int to Memphis. Will this only put in a plan with sim brief. Can you put in way points manually and how do you??.I have put in KAMA/KMEM in from/to.Hit enter to lock it in.When I go to flight plan, page 1 all it shows is 29 degrees/1NM.second line KMEM 23H14.No way points I have saved in the flight in LNM. Cheers.

Your only way of getting a flight plan from LittleNavMap into the simulator directly is to load the plan from the world map screen before you begin a flight - then (in some aircraft) it will be pre-loaded into the avionics system (whatever the aircraft has).

Thanks for the quick reply Jonathan. What you have said here is how I normally do it for every other aircraft.737,A320,Islander,ETC.Most to all of these have the F/Plan preloaded when I hit FLY. . Just not showing up in the Transall. I'm just using the basing A/Pilot in the EFB as a means to an end.I do like the Transall.Looks good. Flies well.Needs a lot of trim if using my H/C Bravo. Trim wheel in the aircraft seems more responsive/quicker. Good sound if just a trifle loud I think,lol. Will make do till someone brings out a C-130(that has a full working cockpit,haha)..I heard a while back that someone was working on one but can't remember who.Not C/S...Thanks for the video's and all your help in understanding these aircraft. You have certainly helped me through working out several aircraft and FMC/MCDU learning curves.Cheers.All the best.
