Thanks for instructions! I configured the same parameters like you, and its really nice, I think power consumption will be is not to big like with standard config, because the slightest pressure on the pedal gave 500 watts. At now 150-200w. This is a significant battery saving
Awesome! I have the same bike. I was wondering how to change that. Currently mine seems to make a sudden jump when I put pressure on the pedals. especially in the trails, its kinda difficult when I make an uphill turning sharp and I am almost stopped. it jumps too fast.
Thanks for posting this video! My BBSHD provides power for an additional 1 to 2 seconds after I stop peddling. This is quite dangerous especially on trails. Can this be adjusted using the USB programming cable? I want the motor to stop immediately when I stop peddling
Hi, Frey gave me the driver software but for the life of me I couldn't get it downloaded. I followed the instruction and the something non English came up and just stuck there. Is there anything else that needs to be done before following the instruction?
Need a Bafang Ultra if not for this reason alone! I can't believe eBike manufacturers are still getting away with selling speed limited and programming restricted systems. Cray. Thanks for sharing.
I can't think of any way you can cause damage through programming. The software current limit is far below what the unit can handle. In fact, Luna Cycle modifies their units to allow up to double the amount of power.
Generally speaking, are you liking the bike. Any regrets? Chain breakage? Frame issues? Lack of suspension bearings a problem after a few thousand miles? I am considering upgrading from an FLX Trail to this bike. How much did the Ultra weigh?
Yes, I am loving the bike actually! No regrets at all. I have not had any problems with the frame or chain. The suspension actually has bearings at all standard locations. My initial assumption that it didn't have bearings in the rockers was wrong. I removed the rocker arms and confirmed that there are bearings inside. This bike weighs 67.4 lbs. If you don't mind a little extra weight, the rear suspension should likely more than make up for it =)
Hello, I have the same bike, but the engine is providing power for a short while right after pedaling is stopped, this can be a problem in mountain biking. I have the cable and software. Do you have any advice resolve this problem? I did lower the Time to Stop of PAS to 5 without result. thank you
Hello. Your bike looks very nice. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I have 3 questions: Can you change the Amps in the basic settings? How high can you change it? Main differences to the Bafang BBSHD? Can you tell me please the price point of the bike? Thanks a lot!
Hi, thank you. I tried changing the current to a value higher than 30A but the software would not allow it. The main difference is that the Ultra uses a special mounting plate to mount to the bike (this allows you to have much more ground clearance as the motor does not hang down), weighs a couple more pounds, and has a torque sensor. The torque sensor is what makes it so special. Here is a link to the bike. www.alibaba.com/product-detail/3rd-Gen-AM1000-Bafang-ULTRA-G510_60700621160.html?spm=a2700.8443308.0.0.947gKe
I check your update and comment on ES daily. Your Ultra has steel gear, could you please make a video compare the sound level to the BBsHD with nylon gear. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for following =) Sure, I'll try to make a video like that. I can tell you that it is very quiet. I would never have even suspected that it didn't have the plastic gear. The new metal gear looks to be spiral cut, so that's probably why it is still so quiet.
I have a huge fat bike SURLY ICT with 5.05inch vee 2xl tires...what is Q factor of bafang ultra motor? I mean crank offset/distance when mounted to the motor... Distance should be at least 190mm...
Can you post a video of the settings you ended up using? How are you liking the bike so far? I saw Luna did a tear down comparison of the Ultra vs the BBHSD - huge difference. Also, do you have a link to get the software, or can you upload somewhere?
This is about the third video I seen and y’all forgetting to mention the most important thing which is disconnect the battery before connecting the the cable to computer.
Hello! I'm unable to get a luna cycle here in Europe, so I'm looking for a Frey AM1000 emtb. Do you recommend it? How does both compare with each other? Thank you.
That's a very good question. I haven't even figured out the difference between sport and eco. I just have mine default to sport when I turn it on. I don't even know how to switch between the two. I don't see anything in the software for doing that. I'll let you know if I ever find out.
Hey 'Just enjoying Life', or is it Robocar? Do you have a normal name I can call you? Anyway, your settings have really helped me, thank you. Maybe I can help you a little. Change from Eco to Sport by pressing and holding + button. There really is a difference between the 2 modes in terms of power. Next, holding down the ' - ' button puts you in 'Walk mode'. Be careful as it jumps straight into it. Really useful. Probably not as useful to you as your video has been to me, but I hope it saved you a little time.
Maybe someday I'll use my name =) Thanks for the tips! I knew about the walk mode from owning the BBSHD, but I didn't know about the mode switching. Do you know if I can change anything, or does it just reduce the power a set amount when I go into ECO mode?
I'm not sure if the parameters of each mode can be changed independently, I just made the changes that you made, then took the Windows Laptop back to the store for a refund. Very cheeky but I only have a MacBook Pro which won't operate this software. Hoping I won't need to change anything else.
thanks for the quick response, sorry I haven't seen it sooner. it would be perfect if you would get back to me if you find a setting for it, cause its kinda the only thing holding me back from buying it. I live in the city and its supposed to go on a cargo bike, so when my girlfriend get on the bike in city traffic I dont want her to have the full power til deal with, + the law enforcement around here are strikes about e-bikes.
Hi, sorry I didn't reply sooner. I got the software from Frey but I've seen some people post links to the software. The EggRider can program those settings now too.
I got same looking software as yours but original one from bafang. Still i don't understand what the parameters in the "Torque" page are. Do you have a manual by chance explaining what each parameter is for or could you write one for your riding fellows? Since I think you managed to understand what each parameter does fiddling around.
Maybe worth contacting Bafang to find out if there is some sort of manual or explanatory notes to show how to use the software. I know I will have the same issues when my AM1000 arrives in a few days.
I didn't figure anything out (I wish I did). The manual Frey provides has a description for most of the settings. I can't post the file (was asked not to share it), but I can make a video talking about the settings.
This isn't for the Ultra, however, it does explain a few things about the Bafang. Some things you should do first like saving your original settings. That is the first thing that should be done. I think the Torque tab is the same as the Throttle handle tab. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MChTEUqv8dE.html
Have you ever figured out what the difference between the ECO and SPORT mode does . I can not find anyone that knows anything about it even on bafang site there is nothing .
@@JustEnjoyingLife73 Well my bike has the same ultra bafang motor and I reprogrammed mine as well with the suggestion setting you did and like you said its much better now. But I am still curious what the differences are though. I guess I just have to experiment with it some and learn all the settings and what they all mean. I changed my chain ring down to a 40 tooth and is much better now my top speed is 31 now which is plenty fast for me even though i do not need to go that fast all the time . Its just nice to know its there when i might need it .
I got the software from the manufacturer of the bike, Frey. You need the newer software because previous versions do not have a "Torque" tab for the torque sensor.
Great tutorial video, thanks for sharing. I just bought a bike with the same motor and want to dial in the parameters. I know where to get the cable, but I need a link to the driver software unless you think Luna Cycles has one.
It looks like our bikes, not to mention several other brands, share many frame components. It is likely that they have the same frame parts supplier. Here is a link to the frames assembly line at FLX, see at minute 4:40: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-85tbfrYQPIU.html
@@H-habilis did you change parameters for flx blade ? I bought a different display and 52v battery and its way better , not that it was bad to start. but I think the parameters are dialed in on the blade already. I went to change mine, but had second thoughts.
Thanks for the heads up. Yes, I bought it from Frey on Alibaba. Did you buy it from Frey as well? How long ago did you buy it? Are you getting it fixed?
I asked Frey about the issue, and they said that earlier Ultras that used the plastic reduction gear had issues but they come with the steel gear now, so we should be ok =)
I bought it in September. I was running on a flat ground at 35 km. The motor suddenly spun. After disassembling the motor, the gear was worn out. I have not run 300 km since I bought it. Received and exchanged gears now are operating normally. The enhanced gear was nylon gear.
@@JustEnjoyingLife73 It has a bbshd 1000w 48v and the maximum speed of non-riding 70kmh and on bafang ultra m620 1000w the maximum speed without the ride 55kmh there is a malfunction. The figures like you have improved, but the problem is in the power
@@JustEnjoyingLife73 I'm saving to get one...I've been researching it, but there's a limited amount of videos and I've been watching them all, do you mind of I ask you to do a general review video of it, for all the curios people about this product?
@@universityofthrifting709 One of these days I'll have to post an update video :) Did you already see my unboxing video? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8AExCcTGF2w.html
Buyer beware!! Frey is infamous for delaying bike builds (not delivering bikes on time) and other issues. Do your research folks. There's a dozen alibaba manufacturers making similar bikes for less money and deliver on time.
@@JustEnjoyingLife73 Comment worded exactly the same way, posted by multiple accounts. Frey _is_ backordered on a bunch of stuff right now, & delays in shipping from China may be to be expected... but I suspect these identical comments to be spam, or else someone taking their anecdotal experience way too seriously?
