This is a fascinating and ambitious project! The CEO's transparency about the challenges is refreshing and inspiring. It's clear that reviving a cold ship for residential living at sea presents unique obstacles, but those setbacks are a hallmark of pioneering efforts. Overcoming them will pave the way for a whole new chapter in how we live, travel, and even retire, potentially in a more sustainable way. We’re excited to see this project progress and finally sail!

Great honest explanation. For decades I have wondered why someone doesn't buy an old cruise ship, refurbish it into a residential ship. Finally, someone with the necessary tenacity is doing it. Too bad you couldn't have started this a few years ago when the cruise lines were scraping decent operating ships during Covid. In hindsight, should have added extra time for the drydock with so many unknowns and no maintenance records rather than an aggressive date which would have been tough if everything went right. But in a few more weeks it will be water under the bow and you will have accomplished what many have only dreamed.

I had to replay the part where he said he was arguing with the inspector about replacing the Rutter stock that he himself said was bad. That’s scary.

This is an amazing transformation. A huge amount of work. Been following along & hope to some day sail on a segment to see if we want to be residence or not. Excited to see what other ships may follow. Way to stick with it & not give up.

It has been another week. A lot was scheduled to happen since this video. Can we get an update please?

I would love to hear this "update" since the ship was to set sail in May.

The ship still hasn’t run at a decent speed in order to test the true health of the engines. I wouldn’t hold my breath on this ship operating normally if even at all. And if it does I give it less than 2 years because a catastrophic failure.

What does this major project cost? Repair,Drydock fees, Crew salaries, cost of room and board for passengers.

$25 million, they have taken peoples money to "finance" this project and it has been met with delays. This is not an established cruise line this is one mans vision, and these people are betting some, if not all, of their money on it. If I am buying a cabin on a cruise ship it had better be sailing already. Many of the leadership team on this cruise worked on the last cruise that took peoples money, and then they never even ha a ship. The customers have not received their money back to date, many are now homeless. This ship was to set sail in May they are now saying July 20. Rooms are 99k for an inside to around 200k for an outside room, or you can rent them.

I was watching JJ Cruises update on your Residency boat. Usually ships will have 2 months off for various updates each year; it appeared from their explanation that residents will be on for 3.5 years before next dry dock Is this true that any work that needs done will be done with residents onboard and follow up question Will residents have alternative accommodation while ship is in dry dock next or do the residents need to make those arrangements themselves Best of luck; happy cruising

A ship drydocks twice in five years (at least once in three years). The drydocks usually last 2 weeks for a standard one and 4 weeks for a major overhaul. Those are planned ones of course. If there is an emergency and they must wait to fabricate parts, who knows.
