Yesterday I had surgery on my back, which came out with thumbs up. I could not get to sleep, went on RU-vid and stumbled upon your Tool Time Tuesday video of one of the projects and became enthralled with the project. I am going to view Project # 9 to start, but will have to stop so my better have can have her time on our computer.A few years back I became obsessed in metal jewelry making of all sorts, but stopped because my wife got really sick. Seeing these projects may have stirred the embers to get back to work on more jewelry.I am a retired person so I have all the time in the world to keep my hands busy.

Thank you so much for these tutorials. I would be struggling a lot more with just the book. Did you notice that although the book says "130mm," the length of the template is actually 125mm? The rest of the dimensions match, though. Anyway, the template seems long enough, so I'm going with that.

Hiya Melissa, Great video as always, thank you. One point if I may, you use 20 gauge metal but then 0.3mm please as your main audience is American could you always use the gauge size for them, but mm for all us Europeans, Asians, Australians, and Russians, although you may not want to help those last ones at present... Alan always uses mm too. Stay safe, Steve...

I am curious which fretz hammer you are using? The silversmith or the 1.2 ounce or the 2.5 ounce ? Love the video
@MelissaMuir
@MelissaMuir 6 лет назад
I believe it is the 2.5 oz hammer. It is not the precision smith line. It is the jewelry hammer, not the one for doing larger pieces. There are three sizes of hammers, it is the middle one. I hope that helps.

I've seen in other tutorials people suggest quenching the silver as soon as it's annealed... but this doesn't seem to be the case after all?

Wyvernwyrm no. You never want to quench right away. It will have a thermal shock causing the metal to become brittle.

Kathleen Conklin if ever there is a question, go by the book. Sometimes I do make mistakes and this seems to be one of them. It’s funny, a lot of times in my head I say the right thing but my mouth says something completely different, yet my ears heard what was in my head. 🤷‍♀️

These metals are so soft that it isn’t an issue. I would never do that with steel. When I pull back, there isn’t much pressure, it is more to keep it as a guide.
