Oh hey Jenna, you are the best for editing these posts! Kim, you are so brave having the cats in the room with the carpet tacks sticking up! I lived in a house for 6 months where the carpet had been removed and the tacks left behind because they hadn't redone the floors. I covered all the tacks with carpet padding- tedious as heck!

That's why I left the padding down after I pulled the carpet up. I'm just so glad it all gone and done now.

Hi Diana!!! Kim, thank you for sharing this Improvement to your home. You've given me a great idea! My new home as of 3 yrs ago was all ugly tile and I put carpet in because I have foot issues and need the padding. Unfortunately, carpet isn't great for kitties with lung issues so maybe when I make a change I can use the roll out product like you have, over padding! May not be the best plan but at least it's a start.

You can 💯 use padding under the laminate flooring. In fact, it is suggested. I just chose not to.

Hi cat lady here , who needs men LoL Tammy and me do most of the building and fixing up jobs . My hubby is the gardener. This morning even though I can't see good I took out the air-conditioning in the garage and put it in my son's room . Now baking cakes . Kim, that mallet would solve the bug noise. 😂 Also, enzymes are about only thing that kills urine or poop odor. I had to get some online. It is Air X brand 😊. I knew this brand as my daddy owned a janitorial business. You just can't let kitties get in it until it dries.

Apply two coats of Kilz paint to the base floor before laying any new floor on it. We did this to flooring of a house my parents inherited where previous tenants had multiple animals ( dogs & cats) that had used all of the carpeting as litter boxes. Over 21 years later, the smell never came back.

That's a great idea. Luckily I didn't glue this flooring down. So far the bleach has taken care of the smell, but if it comes creeping back, it won't be hard to lift up the flooring and try this idea. Thank you.

@@18catsunedited You are so welcome. We also applied one coat of Kilz to all the walls before painting them. This completely eradicated all smells to date...

Ughh, I’m getting ready to pull up my carpet in my former foster room. I’m dreading it. My husband said it will clean up well with our shampooer. And he doesn’t want me to remove the carpet, but I don’t think it’s salvageable. 😮 The room is currently closed off…ugh.
