Project Chopper EP2 - Refurbishing and re-painting a MK3 Hot One Raleigh Chopper 

I know. Now Raleigh have launched a new one with the banana style seat, I might be able to get some to replace the mk3 ones.

Why? It's destroyed the originality and any resale value it might have had in the future and looks cheap.

@basylpeterjones it was worth less than £200. It’s not a mk1 or mk2 so it really was worth less before.

@@mid-life36crisis I found out there were about 425 made; slightly rare, but there won't be many around before long as they're cheaper to get hold of than a JPS or Mod version and I've seen quite a few stripped and altered. I think if they're customised there's no chance of being collectible at any time in the future. If people think the Beano and JPS will be, why not The Hot One?

Maybe, but neither of the ones that I’ve modified were in any condition to be kept original and still be enjoyed. And so what’s the point? My wife’s black and gold Mk3 will be kept original and just maintained because it was still in good enough condition to do this and enjoy taking it out.
