It's coming along. There is a lot of work to do yet but these are jobs that I enjoy. Better than working on a newer vehicle. Thanks. Stevo

@@stevoj8959 have you selected an engine and transmission combo yet?
@stevoj8959
@stevoj8959 2 года назад
@@haneyoakie14 So the engine is a 312 which is original for that period with a 4 speed manual trans with a floor shift. Not going crazy with the big horse power just want it to look stock. Thanks. Stevo

There is definitely a lot of steps in the whole process. I remember when I was way younger and it seemed like I was quicker at getting things done but I think I spend a little more time getting it right. It's got to look good. Thanks. Stevo

This year and model are very popular right now. They don't make them anymore. I am not a Ford guy but I would drive one of these. Thanks. Stevo

That slot you put in will let water out...but it will also let dirt in...and dirt acts like a sponge to hold water against the body. If you're gonna do something like that , I would sweat some 30/70 lead onto the entire lower inch of the inside of that boxed section till it also coats the drain hole edges.
@stevoj8959
@stevoj8959 Год назад
That would be an interesting approach using the lead. I do hope the owner keeps things clean. Thanks for the tip. Stevo

Just wondering how you finished up the bottom of the cab corner panel where the bottom of the door meets I’m using an after market panel that fits good except that particular area thx love your videos your an inspiration
@stevoj8959
@stevoj8959 2 года назад
I was able to use the original edge at the bottom. Sometimes the new panels don't fit and you may have to cut the panel and add a piece. That is a tough spot on those 56's. Thanks. Stevo

Looks great Stevo. I'm not sure how the roof gets so beat up either but I suppose anything can happen in almost 70 years. Seems like it had very little rust considering. What kind of shape is the box in?
@stevoj8959
@stevoj8959 2 года назад
I've repaired roofs that were caved in 6 inches. If they were farm trucks, some stood on the roofs to shovel grain, as I was told. Sometimes mice nest in the roof and rust out the fronts but no evidence of that in this one. The box was in good shape but we are going with new tins. Thanks Dave. Stevo

You would not find a cab that good where I live All the road salt used will eat up a lot of metal in just 10 years most cars and trucks would be rotting away

This truck came from southern Alberta where the rust is not too bad. The rust around my part of the woods is quite a bit worse. Fortunately I don't mind fixing the rust. Thanks. Stevo

Truck should been chemical dipped its the best for proper builds. Entire body gives a clean slate for paint and metal work. Anything else is just a make believe restoration.

I agree but we have no place to do such a thing. Sandblasting is the next best thing. Thanks Stevo
