How many times do YOU think you could apply the antiquated Joke "That's What She Said", in this video?! I have done a good job in the first few build videos getting you ready, and prepped. Post up your total count in the comment section. Today, things don't go according to plan as I deal with a defective piece. But in proper form, I pull my sh!t together and keep on battling my way through the massive build - the LESU CAT 374FL EXCAVATOR! This thing is the largest excavator I have ever attempted to build and is certainly meticulous in nature. I am guessing there are almost 1000 screws in this build. All of these screws are MOSTLY bolts and nuts that are paired together. It makes for a great scaled down look at one of CATERPILLARS flagship excavation machines, but it takes a very long time to execute. Todays video took me 5 hours of build time, although filming and building took me 8 hours in total. Prepare yourselves for a build like this, it is a marathon - whether you are casual builder or a speed builder.
As a side note, and in assistance to my viewers to find what they are looking for quickly:
The model is manufactured by a company called "LESU". They make a lot of heavy duty equipment and scaled down RC (Radio Controlled) trucks, lorries, wheel loaders and so much more. For more information about this excavator and more LESU products - please visit their website! www.rclesu.com/ If you are interested in purchasing one of these excavators - you can email them directly at rclesu@163.com
If you are in the USA and would like to contact a USA Dealer: "Semi Joe" is the trusted name you can go to: semijoerctruck...
I hope my work has made you smile and feel inspired!
Please drop a LiKE CLiCK if you enjoyed the video, and we will see you in the Next Episode of RC ADVENTURES!

@NikkiTheOtter

@@iamReddington On the one hand, it would be a good show either way. On the other, Andrew is the next generation. I started in Robotics when I was 8, 20 years ago, and if I had heard people talking about that like it was a bad thing to watch things like this until I was older...I would probably have given up right there. Instead, I've gone and gotten my own collection of RCs going. Andrew: The Carrot sounds awesome. Be careful on the turns, those things like to fishtail.

Things to do or to improve: Hey from France and owner of this Lesu super model ! What I think is my opinion, I notice you don't use the spring over tubing, I think it's better look with, it's hard to mount due to length of small tubes but cool thing to do. Other , I've replaced all ESC by hobbywing 1080 series and If module, I could set them as I want, I think they are better quality and take less space and could be better cooled by themselves and Lesu fan. I also mount ESC poWer button, WiFi module, and receiver on the storage behind the driver cab. Lot of space inside and far from fluid and heat. I use for look but not needed, brass tubing for all the inside routing of fluid instead of plastic tube and spring. I've also cut the non finished hole in front of basement chassis to add a light in. 3 lights in front. 2 on the boom. And just for the look , I've mount the X frame with 1cm each side , so 2cm Widest for tracks. You have the hole to do it. With or without adding plate, but tracks look better and are now in the line of view of the step grills. You also could add LCD screen from rcbrmin or Lesu to check temperature and voltage in the screen holder in front of driver. (And a beer can) I haven't notice any problems with the play between boom and cylinders, try with and Without washers. No diff at use. Have fun with this Great projects and be as happy as me. And for ever, you are awesome on each vids That's my daily pleasure to have good day. You are taking a big part of my life hobbies and thank you for that 😍💓

For the ram if you want to try to fix it yourself all you have to do is solder it back together. Take the ram off extend it all the way out to protect the piston and wrap the body with a wet rag. Then you can just use a small torch since there is not that much metal and apply some plumbing solder. You might be able to use electrical solder but not sure on that. I think the JB Weld will work if it was clean and dry and slightly sanded but solder will last longer since it looks to be a high stress location.

I'm still on the fence of Lesu as a company, the details are just insane. But you have had at least one semi major failure or problem with every kit of theirs you have put together. With the exception of the trailer and Rookie's truck, or if he had a problem with it we never heard about it. I am glad it seems like they have good customer service as that does go a long way. I would watch a video on hooking up all the electronics because I like stuff like that, but I would be more interested in programing the radio to run everything on this thing.

Not big on the red and black paint scheme for the CAT I usually go for Caterpillar Yellow and black but it ain't my excavator and ultimately it is the owner who makes the decision to paint it whatever color they choose. I do love the gold accents that was an excellent idea. The red is an ok color I think everyone will appreciate the color when it's all done and the colors come together. Can't wait to see the first scratches in the paint when it dig the first scoop of pay. Must be different by yourself without the guys helping another downside is the fridge is full of beer. Glad you are having fun with it. Go ahead and show the wiring up of the LESU Cat. Don't worry about showing hydros run that off camera as it's a tedious job. Thanks for taking us with you on your experience as you build this lesu cat excavator I have enjoyed watching the series. I can see why they angled the fitting downwards. You want to compress the flexible line on a straight axis to that line when the cylinder rotates so that there’s no rotational tension on the fitting when the cylinder moves. Another rule of thumb with excavators is keeping all the lines tucked in as close as possible to the structure. At least that’s the way it is with the real ones.☺️ I do custom hydraulic plumbing on excavators when we do shear installs or mulch heads. It’s actually not so different from what you’ve got going on here. Very cool!

Great video series loved it. Sorry for the pedantic comment I'm a bit OCD about it being in an engineering background. A bolt is a fastener that is used in a clamping application where you need to use a fastener with a nut. So what you call a screw can be a screw or a bolt. The application of the fastener is what determines if it is a bolt or screw, not the head type. This would mean you a running the fastener through two or more through-holes and using the fastener and the nut to clamp the pieces together. When you only use a fastener that goes into a fixed threaded plate that is part of the machine or object you are assembling is considered a screw application.

I don't have any where near as big a work area as you do. I came up with a work around for organizing the small nuts & bolts. I raided the local walmart crafting area and found clear plastic containers with small round "tubes" that have screw on caps. I sort them like you do but just break them out as i get to that area in the book just taking out the specific bag of screws i need. Sorry I can't see how to attach any photos so I hope you guys in the same boat as me out there can visualize what I'm talking about

I personally feel that you could do the major electronic and hydraulic connections off camera saving time for the final assembly and troubleshooting. That's just my opinion. This is an awesome build so far and looking forward to the completion. Have fun camping if we don't hear from you beforehand

I would say just a catch up on the Hydraulics houses once connected and also the electronics. This will allow for build completion as we (Speaking for all) are ready to see this thing in action. Awesome build, my favorite thus far.
