Project Mopar: Brian's 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 4-speed - Maiden Voyage Take 1 

I still have my 1970 340 4 speed dart swinger I bought in 1970 it has the 3:91 posi rear. It is in excellent shape all except the engine which I plan to rebuild next Summer. Mine came with the 1969 engine. The car was built in September of 1969.

If you are calling that a beater, well thats one nice beater. Love it.

The perfect car! A-Body 340 4speed, Love the copper color and black interior. Daily driver to boot! I foresee a lot of rear tires getting destroyed! I'm actually jealous!

Love that front and that rear. My neighbor 2 doors down had one in orange one he drove it everyday. and I as a kid back then loved it. That was around 1973.

My very first car back in 1976 was one of these in green with only 42,000 miles on it. But mine had the 727 Torqueflite, AC, PS and PDB. Even with all of that extra weight, she surprised many a Camaro and Mustang. 1970 340 Darts were more common around Houston where I grew up. I came across 3 during the 2 1/2 years I had mine and I beat them all. I was broken hearted the night she hydroplaned in the rain and got totaled. The fastest she ever went was in 1977 when all I had added was a 750 cfm Carter AFB and she blew past 125 MPH while running from Houston Police Dept. I then added an Edelbrock LD-340 dual plane intake and Hedman headers. It still didn't run as quick as I thought it should. The plug wires and stock cam were the only things I hadn't changed. I swapped in Accel plug wires at lunch one day. Even with semi highway gears (3.23) and SureGrip 8 3/4 she smoked both tires all of the way to 60mph in first gear. I had always enjoyed beating all of those cars with my factory hubcaps and a rusty deck lid and crunched bumper. But that day I realized I was going to have to invest in some wider wheels and tires. But that evening was when I hydroplaned and totaled my baby. Losing her hurt more than all of the women I broke up with in the next 15 years. Lots of amazing memories.

A SWEET little 340 Dart! AND a 4 speed. too! I see the orig. carb. with fast idle solenoid... And some NICE under hood detailing... So glad you held onto it all these years... Now burn some of that premium fuel! You deserve it.

Had a 74 with 318 loved that car . Had person pull in front of me in a Ford escort . Hit him in the passenger side door . Bent the frame. Took the hood off , wouldn't latch and still drove it . Till ate the tires off. Mopar or no car !

Best bang for the buck for muscle cars in the day. I worked with a guy that bought one with min down payment beat it to death till the repo guy took it back. Never made any payments

I'm wondering if the color code is T5? I have a 74 Duster that had the color code T5 and it looks like this color on the places where the original color is showing.

I wonder if your buddy is selling that primed charger he has outside
