This is the explanation I was looking for. I'm assuming this product attempts to compete with several other project management products in the market, but they are willing to maintain the enterprise solution which is a very good product imo.

Microsoft really messed up what was originally an amazing software by adding licensing options and different versions and names. All we wanted was the good all fashion MS project with web support like how it was done with word, excel and even PPT

The dependency management is quite lightweight still, only supporting finish-to-start. I hope they plan to add to this so that overlapping dependencies, start-to-start and finish-to-finish are supported. Edit: Just noticed that this is actually possible 🥳 Not sure if this is a recent change or if I have just overlooked it previously.

Hi 😊 Did you make an update for this video? Including the new added features, how to use Power Apps to create risks heat maps, tasks and issues? Many thanks for your contribution

I really appreciate your videos on Project for the Web. I was under the assumption that Project Plan 5 came with all of this but maybe not. Is the only way to get the reporting, resourcing and full portfolio management with an added solution?

In Microsoft Project for the web, very few users should need a P5 license. See: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/project-online-service-description/project-web-service-description. If you're talking about the extensibility in PowerApps on top of 'Work Management' with Project for the web to provide additional features around 'Project Management', 'Program/Portfolio Management', 'Resource Management' and 'Strategy', you can either build your own or look at options like Sensei IQ: www.senseiiq.com.

I've found Project for the Web limiting due to the 500 line restriction, but now that that limit has been extended to 1000, and when considering some of the functions like checklists, I'm beginning to think that what's "limiting" is just my reliance on old practices based in long term use of the desktop app, instead of considering ways to evolve my workflow.

How do you add multiple lines to the project

I absolutely 100% hate Groups. They have cause so much confusion since they started and it is clunky. While I love that you can "create" approvals and integrate to Power BI, this can cause more development of the app vs doing the project. This was a great video, but I think we will stick with Jira or Asana.
@SenseiPPM
@SenseiPPM Год назад
Thank you for your candid feedback. At Sensei, we believe that the actual features and benefits of MS Groups haven't been communicated very well. The portion we like about it is that it puts the infrastructure in place behind the scenes, including the SharePoint Team Site with Document Library, Team Calendar, e-mail address for the project, OneNote, access permissions, etc. What about Project for the web itself? Have you had a chance to use it? How does it compare to Jira and Asana?

@@SenseiPPM I have used all of those tools, including OneNote. As a big Microsoft contributor, I love the potential of these apps and their wide portfolio. Unfortunately, this is also their issue. It is like technology ADHD. Microsoft cannot seem to make up its mind on things. We have Sharepoint groups, but then there is Yammer. Then we have Teams and then Kaizala. Then Planner and ToDo and then there is Project. Now Loop is coming in and it is very close to OneNote. Things are scattered. Then you have sync issues with tools like OneNote, which can be a nightmare. I have used Project Online, but it is cumbersome and clunky. Jira and Asana are very fluid applications and you spend more time doing projects than “setup”. I do use OneDrive with Asana, but we keep all documents in Asana. When you are working with outside partners, Asana and Jira are easy to setup over the Microsoft offering. In Short, I love the potential of Microsoft, but most companies I have talked to have moved on to greener pastures.

Hello. a query: if I acquire the P1 license of project on the web and integrate it into Teams, the other members of my team who belong to the same Teams group where I have integrated it, will they also need a license to use it? And if they don't have a license, will they be able to visualize the project and do something else? Thank you for your help
@SenseiPPM
@SenseiPPM 2 года назад
Hey, that's a great question! Microsoft has opened up the licensing to Project for the web to O365 license holders for certain operations (updating their tasks, etc.) For a complete list of functions and the license capabilities, go here: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/project-online-service-description/project-web-service-description

280 / 5.000 Hi There. We are currently looking at the Microsoft "Project on the Web" solution. Where can it be entered there that Sundays are a regular working day and that the working day does not go from 9 to 5? Unfortunately we couldn't find anything. thnx for helping.

Good Question! You can set calendars for your project or your resources. This is done from the ‘Project’ model-driven app. More information can be found here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/project-for-the-web/create-and-apply-a-work-calendar

Does Project for the Web allow any level of global resource management (similar to Project Online)? Examples: A developer is assigned to 3 projects. Does she have time for a new project? Or, I need a developer for this project, is there a view that shows me which of my developers has availability, based on their current assignments?

Jared, there's some very basic functionality which you can learn about here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-brxOqHjMd-o.html. For an enterprise solution check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6CUgRutpHKA.html.

Is there a limit to adding tasks to a Web project? I'm hitting a roadblock where I'm unable to go beyond 500 tasks.

Yes, the current limit in Project for the web is 500 tasks. With Sensei IQ, you can synchronize tasks from Project for the web, Planner, Azure DevOps and Jira. Learn more about Sensei IQ here: www.senseiprojectsolutions.com/senseiiq/

Does every project create a new Teams and therefore a new security groups? Does it have version control?
@SenseiPPM
@SenseiPPM 2 года назад
Thanks for reaching out. First, to better understand creating new teams for projects, I recommend reading our blog on Teams vs Channels for project management: www.senseiprojectsolutions.com/insights/microsoft-teams-vs-channels-for-project-management/ Second, version control is done on the back-end through SharePoint. The frustrating thing is that Microsoft doesn't have an all in one system. Why there needs to be so many additional systems to get the job done. Can't believe Microsoft is not capable to do that. I should run the company. Fix the glitch..
@SenseiPPM
@SenseiPPM Год назад
Yes, you have a good point, thanks Dvdkovie! It's a factor of having legacy tools dating back to 1984 and trying to strike a balance between supporting those who love those tools and innovating and providing a more modern user experience. Check out this blog post for more: www.senseiprojectsolutions.com/insights/microsofts-platform-for-ppm-with-microsoft-project-for-the-web-microsoft-teams-and-the-power-platform/. There's also an updated video being released in about two weeks, so keep an eye out for that. Thanks for your input.
