I’d be very interested if you had templates for the rear cage brace! I can’t find one anywhere

@@whistlinlipo Unfortunately the majority of those braces actually crack the rear bulk head, something I am dealing with at the moment, the rear cage is designed to flex, it does look terrible but if you do brace the cage just be careful of the ones that bolt into the rear shock towers, I am working on a break away method and will do a video on those when I get er done, thanks for peeping it

@@DoubleClutchProductions that makes sense. I used some tie rods zip tied to the bottom cage, so the ties can snap off in case of a bad crash

Yah buddy, as a retired holster maker kydex is slept on in rc a bit, when 3d printers started taking over you started seeing less kydex and making things by hand.

It came with the truck. I modified it because the people that design these make you lean the shock so drastically that you bend the shock shafts and Crack the plastic bulkhead. Google SBR 2.0 chassis braces and you will see a bunch of people make them. The flex of the cage is designed in to help it not break on big crashes but everyone focuses on the flop 👊😎 thanks for watching dude, never too late

Thanks, still got my eye on a Baja but people in the USA got them way overpriced for crusty examples. Still waiting to see the Vekta 5b at the end of the year, I got this SBR used from a friend so it was cheap,🤙😎

I eventually adapted my 1/10 cage panels and they work pretty good to keep the cage stiff, I use zip ties so it has a way to break away if you do crash bad, I don't know how others are using 3d printers besides flexible filament to build functional parts for these trucks, the 3d printed tire carries and cage stiffeners would just not survive on my trucks for very long, these Kydex panels I have had in use for over 5 years and I am really happy with how easy they are to make and how durable they are. The 1/6 bent panels for the super reys, These look great if they are the same ones I am thinking of, the bend is a super nice touch, not really realistic to how full size sheet metal is made but a cool feature, You could easily bend a panel like those with this materiel but you have to have a understanding of thermoplastics and have a heat gun to bend it, I think either way would be good functioning just depends on how much time you want to spend making this kind of stuff. Thanks for watching. No upgrades needed, I use grease to seal the transcover but it's not needed. When you take the Trans and diffs apart the cases are two pieces and have a channel that I put grease into so it's more air tight.

Main reason is to keep debris out of the chassis, pretty much fill up with dirt, grass, tan bark and in my case sand. Been doing this to my 1/10 bajas and it's a really cool scale functional detail just like the full size trucks have panels under the body. The cage flex is more of a visual thing that it's causing any issues, it's designed to flex although I agree it's excessive. Stay away from cage braces that use the shock tower as the mount and force you to run a sock angle that will destroy your shocks. The cage braces that use the shock towers will end up breaking the rear bulkhead. I modified the set that came with my truck so I could run the shock angle more upright. 👍😎

@@DoubleClutchProductions wow. Thanks for the quick reply. That all makes sense. I recently purchased a set of braces that I’m going to keep handy in my toolbox for now. Only because everyone is swearing by them. My philosophy is this…these engineers spend hours working on these projects. The flex is built in. Otherwise, as you said, things will break. I’d be curious what your brace mod is, since you seem to grasp the flex issue. It needs flex it’s a lot and the spare tire weight is mostly the issue. I bought these braces(see below). I think metal is a bad idea. Bad idea on most places on a basher. I learned that the hard way with the stupid bling I bought for my Senton 3s blx. I think the sbr2 does need much at all. Some adjustment for your specific terrain is necessary which is why I dropped my pinion down and raised front shocks a 1/4”. Otherwise she’s good to go right? Until the full send itch and the end. Legit. Yah your on the right track, the braces that came on mine are the metal ones, you can kinda,see them in the video and I recapped them to allow the shock to sit more upright, my bulkhead was severely cracked as a result of the brace. Good luck

@@DoubleClutchProductions I have removed the fake fuel tank and zip-tied only one spare tire. Less weight to deal with for the cage and does not kill the aesthetics

Cool, if you notice it's not handling as well in your terrain think about why those spare tires are there. 4 links especially on desert trucks require a,certain amount of weight over the rear to work properly. CG wise these trucks benefit from having more weight over the rear but if it's working it's working 👍

Just give it a shot making your own man the sheet of kydex is like 12 bucks, a little bit of your time, and you'll feel the gratification of making something yourself!
