At 5:18 When mafudad said “no matter what, I’m always on your side, Mafuyu.” Compared to when her mother said that to her, there’s such a big difference even with the tone and how it delivers through words, when mafuyu hears that from her mom, she feels weird and suffocate by it, and when her dad says it, it just feels like genuine care and affection from him, like he TRULY cares for mafuyu A LOT

Given Japan and how he was on a business trip, that man probably works for like, 16 hours a day. And he couldn’t have known about Mafuyu’s suffering bc she was masking it from everyone, including him.
Mafuyu’s dad is understanding… this is very heartwarming, I’m so happy for Mafuyu. To all dads out there, try to connect with your kids, whether they’re toddlers having fun, teenagers trying to find out who they are, or adults who are trying to make an impact in the world.
Idk why i got the feeling that Mafumom might manipulated Mafudad as well to get him marrying her... But Mafudad never getting into to the "real" Mafumom as he might be a very busy man to even interact with his own family, this might also explains why he also didn't get into his own daughter's real self as well. Mafudad might not 100% innocent for not interacted with his own family much, but he's def not 100% guilty either. Man, everyone in Asahina's family needs therapy so bad. I think so. Yeah, he's at the very least actively trying to understand who Mafuyu is as a person. Even just making time to check in on her once a week and looking at hospitals for her to go to for her mental health and stress, also taking into consideration her relationship with Kanade and the others by finding one close to her house. He's not even mad at her for not telling him what happened right away, knowing that it's difficult for her.
It’s Japanese/Asian culture. The idea where dads aren’t really relevant or have any role in the family life is likely a part of it. The idea of saying “hey people, women aren’t always good moms” and “dads should have a part in raising a child rather than making the mother do all of it” is great. This is a learning opportunity and a call to action to the dad to finally start raising his daughter.
i don't think mafumom "manipulated" mafudad. mafumom has many flaws, worst of which being pushing her ideals onto others condescendingly and an obsession with being "proper" and "cultured" so to speak, but otherwise she seems like a relatively normal person to interact with as an adult.
Im happy that mafudad understands mafuyu and lets her do what she's happy with, while mafudad isn't the best parent at least he tries to understand his own daughter and supports what ever she's happy with. This is what mafumom needs to understand and what her actions have done to mafuyu

Hearing her dad say he'll always be on Mafuyu's side is probably what Mafuyu needed to hear the most to move forward. Mafuyu is so unused to freedom that she feels guilty of allowing herself even the smallest things, conciously or not she probably thinks her freedom is always at the expense of others, So her time living at Kanade's house is likely the most freedom shes allowed herself thus making her feel like she has to go home out of guilt as shown in this event. But then again staying at Kanade's house has also lessened the weight off her shoulders significantly, made her happy and all warm inside, cared for and loved even if she doesn't completely realize it, so getting rejected by someone who she cares about and whose opinion she values so much would equate to everything she just experienced as wrong, and thats terrifying.
I almost cried. As someone who's too empathetic for their own good, I know how Mafuyu feels about wanting to please the people around her and blaming herself for something that isn't her fault. I also agree that Mafuyu's mom sucks. She looks at Mafuyu and doesn't see her Wonderful Daughter Mafuyu, and only sees her Perfect Girl Mafuyu. The difference being she doesn't see Mafuyu as the wonderful girl she is herself, but the puppet she wants Mafuyu to be. I mean, Mafuyu can do so many other things! She's a skilled lyricist, has a beautiful voice, and if you think about how she's managed to fool her parents for years with a fake smile, she'd be wonderful as an actress! She seems to enjoy music and similar stuff more, too! Wouldn't forcing her to become something she didn't want just be wasting her potential? No wonder I want to throw up every time that woman speaks.

Not only that, he apologized to Mafuyu for how she is now, which I'm quite glad. I'm also proud of Mafuyu for finally said it, I'm proud of her. Alright, now that that's settled, Mr. Asahina said he'll have a talk with the witch later, hoping the talk will be a serious talk about her actions (and maybe divorce papers involve hopefully)
I cry when I'm reminded of this event because I see my dad in Mafuyu's father. Always busy so we have less time to spend together. Like Mafudad, my father is imperfect but when it really counts, I know he'll be there when I need him and I can feel he loves me in spite of his busyness. I don't say this a lot about any video game but the fact it resonated with me so deeply and reminded me of someone dear to me... Excuse me, imma hug my dad now

Man, I'm so happy that at least her dad understood her and not only that, was willing to listen to her and still be suportive, even said sorry... Mafuyu's family situation/dynamic reminds me of Amity's from the Owl House. The mother was in total control of the daughter's life, not giving a care about how she (the daughter) felt about it, even resorting to dirty tricks to make sure she stays on the path she (the mother) chose for her. But the father had no idea what was going on, and comforted the daughter when he realized how she was really feeling.

Mafuyu’s parents are literally mine but reversed. My mom’s pretty chill with what I do but my dad always wants me to get good grades and doesn’t like it when I hang out with friends that have low grades and always forces me to go to classes :(
I wonder... I don't really keep up with events unless it's Kanade, Tsukasa, or Honami, so has Mafuyu said that she still wants to be a nurse? I wonder since all of this has happened alongside her "pursuit" of being a doctor, if it has affected her desire to still be in the medical field?
Honestly, as far as i catch up the story. I don't think that Mafuyu's mom is antagonist. We don't have evil character in project sekai. Even in MMJ story, Arisa from Cheerful*Days is not a bad character, it's just the situation forced her. We learned that in the TV show event story. As for Nigo, we really need to see more from Mafu mom POV/thought.
