Project TJ Wrangler: Ep 28- Cutting Fender Flares

Trimming my fender flares for some extra clearance for my new tires. I'll be running 33"x12.5" mud tires and want to have enough space when my sway bar is disconnected. Add in a little bed liner to bring the old flares back to life and not only will they be functional, but look good too!

Thanks for the idea and the awesome how to video. I watched your video and an hour later me and my brother in law had them all cut and sanded. Thanks my 97 budget rig handles the 33's now and looks great.

I think I'm going to paint or plastidip my flares. I did the bed liner on mine and they are a little rough. I like the look you have going!

It looks good man. Good job and thanks for saving some of us some cash. We can spend it on something else for the TJ

Been thinking about doing the same thing on my '05 TJ. What did you end up doing with your marker lights that were on the fender? Did you reinstall them inside the wheel well? Nice job by the way!

Dude. I cringed when you took that cutting wheel to your fender. But I must admit it does look good. Can't wait to see the repair job on the YJ frame. Just sparking up the welder on my own now. Opted for polyurethane bushings on the springs and track bar by the way...the rubber ones were 0.02" too small and were super sloppy. Used energy suspension ones and they fit like a glove. I'll just sit on a pillow to soften the ride. Lol

+Oatz It'll be a little while yet before I get to uploading the YJ video. Poly is better performance anyway. Just make sure it's a really thick pillow! lol

Great video Trev, but what did you do with your side marker?
@UndergroundTrev
@UndergroundTrev 5 лет назад
It's tucked up in the fender well.

Do you still have the cut fenders on now? How have they held up this far?
@UndergroundTrev
@UndergroundTrev 6 лет назад
I still have them. The bedliner I sprayed on has faded, but otherwise the flares are still perfect. No waves or anything. The trick is to leave a bit of the curved edge so the flare stays ridged.

That sounds good I will have to cut mine. Thanks for the info and your videos too.

Now, take off the fender flares and bolt on the part that you cut off

You check your flex yet? I also run 33s with 2inches of suspension and 1.25 body lift. And even with my flat fenders from psc I rub the top of my fenders just a bit. Hate to see you rip your new cut fenders off! What mine looks like: imgur.com/yK9pPRn Paint job looks good on those fenders!

+ctackett51 That's a good looking Jeep you have! I've been wheeling with my sway bar disconnected, so far so good, but I haven't flexed it out completely yet.
