I'm so happy to see you starting this game, it's so wonderfully realistic and gritty! A couple pointers: You can change enemy highlighting in your setting for melee AND ranged instead of ranged only, and also in settings, just to make it easier and save time, you can set time to resume normal speed after the current task is done. There are many other points, but they're mostly based on gameplay and I want you to play how you like! (Farming and Cabin in the Woods guy myself) Hopefully that helps, and you continue to play this game for an amazing new series like all your others!
Its awesome to see you playing this. Tho for a hint you cant check the truck of vehicles in the front seat. Actually have to go back there to check those
Disinfecting does not prevent zombie infection. It is just the roll of the dice. 7% scratch 25% laceration 100% bitten. Disinfecting only helps towards normal wound infection.
Finally having my fav RU-vidr playing this game. Just something to consider: -Life and Living channel will give you valuable exp on multiple skill started at 6AM, 12 PM and 6PM. - Day 6-7 will be helicopter event, be sure to secure a vehicle if you don't want to play rambo with 2-300 zombies. - If you find a needle, rip sheet to get some threads and apply it to your clothes using leather strip getting from leather jacket. The higher your Tailor skill the better protection
@@TRUSTeTMguest I started with a ps5 controller and been playing 1 month or so and have gotten lighting fast at managing inventory. It def is quicker with KB+M but when it comes to combat and movement I can kick ass with my controller and it’s just unmatched in that aspect. But each has their pros and cons I’m my opinion
My wife keeps looking at me funny as I yell at the screen, “Read the f--ing books in your inventory!” Or “Take the messenger bag!” Or “That was brilliant.” Love it, love you, looking forward to more.
Some tips from my playing time - blood doesn’t matter at all, you don’t need to wash yourself you don’t need to wash your clothes you don’t need to wash anything, although I wouldn’t be surprised if someday the devs make it so it matters but right now it doesn’t. You can drag all the items you want to pick up to your inventory you don’t need to right click it. Be careful of when going into houses there can be sneaky zombies waiting for you in the corner and there’s a chance a house alarm may trigger if you go into a house, same for a car alarm but only if you break a window. Be careful of watches there could be an alarm set on the alarm and it don’t disable it, it can go off and trigger all the nearby zombies to your area. Watch out for the helicopter event that happens at the end of the first week, days can range from day 5 to day 10, to know what day it’s coming you can watch out for radios they may have the emergency automated system on one of the channels, and then you can remember the frequency of that channel and you may put the emergency automated system on whatever radio you want. Don’t come to Louisville, you’re not ready for it yet, but what you can do is go to the outskirts of the city and to the blockade, those have weapons, armor, and military or large backpacks and a lot of generators if you’re ever looking for those. When the power goes out you can use a generator and connect it to whatever building you want and regain the power but it will take gas and a how to use generators manual/magazine to use a generator, you can find those manuals in houses, mailboxes, libraries, schools, etc. Also generators have to be taken care of or they will break down, you can use scrap metal to repair them. You need a gas tank to fill up a car with gas, or if you want you can go to a gas station (beware those can be dangerous) and fill your car with the pumps (you have to be on the right side where you car takes in gas for that to work, those can be random for every type of car) or you can use the gas tank and fill it up through the pumps as well if you don’t have a car. And remember, gas stations don’t ever run out of gas when they have power, speaking of that There’s a way you get unlimited gas once the power goes out, if you take a generator to the gas station you can connect it to the building and turn the building’s power on, hence unlimited fuel. DONT EVER turn on a generator in a house, that’s very bad for your health. One more tip, vhs tapes can be used to gain skills, and when you read a book and gain it’s xp boosts the tapes are very overpowered, some of them have more critical importance than others, and you can find a lot of them in vhs stores, and there’s only one in muldragh, which happens to be near a police station. Take that as you will.
It takes some getting used to, but it's worth it if you ever want to try again. I find that watching videos like this really helps me learn the ropes. I also recommend Cromulent Archer and NoMiS Plays because they're very good at explaining stuff.
The games controls are actually pretty good once you learn it. It's similar to a lot of other games like even 7days. You can even get a hotbar and assign things to it, though the modded hotbars are way better, I believe the regular hotbars from vanilla work too. Like once you get a backpack and holsters. What took me a while to figure out was what required long presses and what doesn't and really that's only for interacting with windows. It does feel overwhelming at first because of all the ins and outs of crafting and special tools you'll need for certain tasks, but the crafthelper mod is very good for a new player to learn. For me the hardest part of this game is just how grindy it is on vanilla settings. Takes ages to level up skills and unlock more craftables, but just boosting the xp multiplier a bit fixes that. I usually play with a 150% modifier but that's probably too fast for most. 75% still takes a while but you can max most skills in a couple ingame weeks. I absolutely adore this game though. Imo it's the quintessential zombie experience.
Glock, as a PZ player since 2013, here are some tips. - Watch TV at 0600, 1200 and 1800 for XP boosts to certain skils. - water and power go out between 0-6 months at random times each playthrough. - when panicked combat effectiveness severly reduced, use beta blockers to compensate. - Rosewood is easiest spawn, Riverside, then Muldraugh after. Westpoint is most difficult. - First couple days, try to find a weapon, backpack, can opener and vehicle. - Other useful items are a hammer, screwdriver and saw for dismatling doors and furniture. - Turn off lights and close curtains at night to keep zeds from agro-ing to your location while you sleep. - Disinfecting wounds will not stop zed infection, nothing can. But it will stop normal bacterial wound infection which can lead to fever and death. - After water and power go out you will need generators and rain collectors for power and water. Looking forward to the series! This game has been a fav of mine for many many years. Love your content bro!
Pro tip Glock! That mini wallow talkie you found at the beginning is actually on of the best hand held walkie talkies since it weighs the least of all of them. It can alert you of the helicopter event when you have it on and it won’t attract any zombies if you equip some earbuds or headphones into it
Real excited for this series! I recommend you start with the instant zombification setting on so you don't waste time with a doomed survivor. It'll help speed up your first few runs in getting used to the game!
You need to check on your wounds more often to make sure your bandages do not need to be changed. Also, you can wash the bandages and reuse them. You can get food poisoning, but you can not get sick from not washing before you eat. You can catch a cold if you get soaked in the rain or if it is cold outside, but simply washing your clothes you should be fine. Using a towel gets rid of the moodlet
24:14 "we were doing so good, too" the hidden tagline to project zomboid lmao. ALLLLLL of my last deaths over the past week came right at the tail end of a cool and fun adventure, just to miss a push on a single zombie and have them nail a bite
Glock you got the key to the ambulance truck and the car in the drive way has fuel. It should work, just need to rev the engine a bunch (keep pressing w). Put that fireman coat on, its worth the weight, the armor will protect your arms and body. Try getting to a gas station and base up there. Free gas = free electricity. :D
You shouldn't be taking on five zombies without a weapon... Generally in PZ you want to figure out how to be only taking on 2-3 zombies at most. But you're doing pretty good. Better at the fence stomp than me, but I never really considered that as a strategy. BTW, you want the fireman's coat and boots too.
Oh nice! Squad mate got everyone this for Christmas and we have had a blast. Save water in pots and buckets for when power goes out. Watch TV until station stops working. Seeds will be very important if loot doesn't respawn!
Helpful tip, and just the tip... You can check the trunks and backs of unlocked vehicles (or locked vehicles if you get inside and hit the unlock icon on the vehicle console at the bottom) to find extra loot by walking around the back of a car and searching. Gas cans, guns and medicine are fairly common.
As someone starting off zomboid recently, It's so nice to know that my favorite youtuber will be starting too, It really gives me the motivation to play it alongside, *so so* looking forward to this series
Few tips sir. Check car trunks. Especially that fire truck. Satchels are backpacks, don’t pass them up if you can. And heavier cloths provide more protection at the cost of being hot as hell. So a firefighter jacket is a good addition, as are military boots. Though boots do slow your run speed slightly. One last thing to. If a car is unlocked always hop into the driver seat. You can switch seats with the z key. The keys sometimes spawn in the ignition. Just a few pointers If you plan on sticking with the game. Keep up the amazing content. :)
I JUST started playing this last week and I've been having so much fun with this. This is going to be so great if you make it into a series and I can't wait to watch more!!!
You can use pans as weapon. Not washing doesn't do anything before eating, at least in my experience. You just need to wash yourself when you're wounded because that may cause infection. I would recommend you wearing that firefighter jacket. Helps a lot with protection. Hoodies, leather jackets, sweaters, and denim shirt are good top clothing and you can put it on top of the other. Make sure to inspect your clothing as well as it may get holes when you get bitten/scratched. Also, the key you found is for that firetruck. Good luck in your game! Can't wait for the next episode :)
Awesome! Tip: frying pans are decent early weapons. Also check the trunk on cars. Also break line of sight to lose zombies. Cover windows with sheets to stop zombies spotting you. 👍
So, your issue with stomping on zombies was that you HAVE to make sure you are stomping/hitting their heads. You can kill them by hitting their bodies, but it takes forever. To get that one shot right after they hop the fence you need to be precise and hit their head. Also, freaking LOVE this game! I am so excited that you have picked it up! I hope this becomes a staple to your series rotations! (Also might help with 7DTD burnout!) EDIT: Also, to help protect preserve your weapons a bit longer, once you knock a zombie to the ground instead of hitting it with your weapon, stomp on it. You'll get the kill and save some durability! EDIT 2: Lmao, unlike 7DTD running away is sometimes completely necessary... Let's call it a "tactical retreat". Because there will be times where you will literally have to turn around and haul ass in the opposite direction. Just something to keep in mind, if you come across a huge pack of zombies just turn around and sprint away! EDIT 3: Passed up a frying pan when you had no weapons. They're pretty good early game and easy to find. It's usually one of my first pickups until I can get myself a bat.
I have seen a bunch of posts on Reddit about this game, but never tried it either. Thanks for playing and letting us watch. I will be downloading the game this weekend.
Glad to see glock playing zomboid, this gonna be a blast! Also a couple pointers to help out - your character and their clothes can get pretty dirty before worrying about infections, and you only get a chance of infection when wounded by zombie attacks or by other injuries, and remember : you can survive normal infections, but not the zombie virus. And remember to always disinfect wounds and use clean bandages! -when you make a new character, I highly encourage to have traits, they can really help or challenge your play style. Also some negative traits are temporary, like being overweight or unfit, and can be fixed with diet and exercise. When you get a handle on traits and what suits your play style, I recommend the more traits mod to get really creative with possible characters.
I am glad to see you doing this game because I always enjoy watching others play this game, and I know this will turn out to be good game series for you.
now is a great time to be alive! also from my personal experience, when fighting zombies it is good to keep your mouse behind the zombie you are fighting or atleast further from your character so you dont do a 180 when fighting the zombie and get bit; like how you got bit or really scratched
Some VHS tapes like the one here 7:42 can give you exp in carpentry and other stuff. Also you should be focusing on watching TV while there are still broadcasts, turn on TV lower the volume to one point to not drag in zombies, switch channel to Life And Living. At 6AM, 12AM and 6PM you can watch shows that give you alot of exp in cooking, carpentry, mechanics, fishing, foraging that is otherwise hard and time consuming to earn. Reading books gives you multiplier to exp gain, you can read books while watching TV Also make sure to check for loot in trunks of cars, they can be open even when doors are closed
This game has a bunch of nuances & small details. I personally love it. I'll share some knowledge . The aiming of the cursor matters when zombies are down. Aim for the head. As for having to wash yourself. It doesnt impact your health unless its on an open wound.
Be sure to take all the VHS tapes and snag a tv that can play them. Also the life and living channel can teach you stuff in the beginning until the show goes off the air, I think it's on ever 6 hours. 6am, 12pm, 6pm and 12am. That firefighter jacket, helmet and gas mask are all wicked good protection. They don't weigh you down when you put them on I don't think. If you have the right weapon or tool you can either take apart or just beat down locked doors. Also you can sneak around by pressing the C button. You can run around while sneaking but it tires you out quicker. Taking the fresh food out of the refrigerator and carrying it around makes it go bad quickly. Try and hoard as much canned food and water as you can find in your base for when the power finally goes out.
I absolutely love when I see a notification for your channel comes up on my phone! Ive been wanting to buy this game for myself, so I shall be watching you play this game and deciding for myself if it is up my alley or not so far it definitely does look like it could be a game I'll enjoy. My guy keep up the awesome work with the channel I can't wait to see what comes out on your channel next!
I tend to go through phases where I dont watch anything from you then binge a shit ton. But the moment I saw zomboid I was here. Good luck dude, you'll need it!
I am so excited you are delving into this game! I just started playing a couple of weeks ago. It is so good. Actually took over 7DTD as my top zed game. A few tips: set the highlighting of zombies to all weapons which includes melee. Loot the trunks of the cars. That firetruck may have a fire axe in the back. Look for keys on the ground near vehicles. They are pretty small so either zoom in or hit the magnifying glass to the left to search the area. When curb stomping zombies put your back to the fence and be near where they come over and hit them just as they are landing and you won't have to worry too much about the lunge they do. I love this game for all of the details and the fact that every single zombie is a threat. One last bit of advise don't get over confident. I do all the time and bam they bite your dick. Good luck! Can't wait for more!
Watching this series from the beginning. I came into the series towards when poop hit the fan. So far, this definitely looks like the kinda game I'd be into. I'm a sucker for base-building, crafting games, bonus points for open world (Fallout spoiled me with that, :) ) If zombies are involved.... Well, let's just say that I discovered you while looking up 7 Days to Die basebuilding videos, and you popped up randomly. Thanks for being so entertaining, the commentary is just the undead zombie head on top
I hope he does another episode, I enjoy a walk through with his take on the zombie genre. Gives me something to listen to while gaming, working out, and at work.
When zombies hop over a fence, the moment your character looks down, that's when you know you'll do a stomp rather than a swing; Moreover, there's a setting in the options for forcing a ground attack. You can set the left Ctrl key so that it forces you to target a grounded zombie, even if there's a standing zombie in front of you.
If you see this I believe that you’ll have a blast playing scum survival again. They have polished up everything that you were concerned about on the last play-through. You can now change almost all of the files related to loot spawns, zombie spawns, ECT. I’d love to show you how to do all this in a extremely in depth tutorial and will answer any questions that you have on the matter. I have been playing this game ever since it was realest and would love to see you play the newer better more polished version of this game.
This game s awesome man! Glad you started a serie on it! Ill try to give you a tip, once you push a zombie to the ground stay on it, he wont get up till you move from him, also you missed a bag the zombie banging on the door!Glad atleast you found something similar and better soon later! Good luck my dude, dont forget to mod it once you experience the vanilla version cause the mods for this game are insane and the community is awesome, they enrich the game a whole lot better
