The secluded homes by the lake are even better now. Discovered these myself in Build 41, and now one of the homes is entirely closed off by tall iron fences except for the drive way, which can easily be baricaded. Also, in addition to "Ben's cabin" on the other side of the lake still having a garunteed spawn of an antique stove, another one of the houses has a BBQ pit, so you'll never not be able to cook once the power goes down. Its surrounded by trees now too, so plenty of fire wood and building materials to turn the whole thing into a fortress if you want to. Also, in my run, one of the houses was populated with inmates with several dufflebags which was a killer find, but I'm not sure if this is a garunteed spawn or if I was just lucky. S Tier long term base location if you don't mind a half day's walk to get anywhere, unless you have a car.

I have been trying to set up new bases in other playthroughs but always end up back here. It's just too good, deep forest tiles right behind the west house too for easy rabbits. Never any Zombies even on 2x pop. Trees grow all in the yard for endless planks, the list goes on. Only down side is the nearest gas station is very dangerous to refill at.

A couple of my favorites aside from some of the ones you listed: The double farmhouse just on the north outskirts of Riverside, has two 2 floor houses right next to each other and a garage/shed at the end of the driveway. Secluded, not too far from town, plenty of woodland, and the factory is just up the road. Also, in Westpoint, the Food Market next to the post office and hardware store (next to the 3 floor office building, in the back room is a staircase that leads up to 2 decent apartments, one of which has a window that opens out to a flat roof with a decent amount of open space (can also connect to the second floor of the pile 'o crepe up the other end if the street if you put a floor down. If you can manage to block off/destroy the stairs, you have a safe haven in the middle of town with plenty of potential.

@@celladoor_uk place is perfect, get food from marketplace downstairs, take hunting knives and tools from the hardware shop next door to go round slowly clearing buildings and disassembling every wooden and metal object you find.. eventually you'll run into a sledgehammer. Go back to cleared buildings, at street level, tear every window down with the sledgehammer and use the wood you left behind to make a wooden wall. Secure. The. Entire. Block. Build a wall around the parking lot (always at least 3 cars in there you can use to level mechanics, even get a main vehicle). Survivor Base Starter-Pack!!

I have my own rosewood recommendation, the fire station, its very out of the way, large space, minimum windows, garage, and lots of varied loot to start off, also next to the police station if you want the guns, you can get an axe from the firestation and take the locked doors down
@drybeanz1995

That is also my go to base! Although I might plan on moving to riverside unless I get like 20 barrels (level 7 not 3) Water barrels which could last me a full month or more if it never rains, but I'd probs have a base in riverside or next yo a water source as back up if you have no water left water left

The location I first based in was actually on Riverside. I went to the 5 houses just south of the bar area. Despite being very close to the town, it is actually pretty empty. Moreover, thanks to it being a 2-floor house and thanks to the proximity of the forest (Which is right next to the house), you can easily barricade the entire lower floor while using escape ropes to access it from the outside. Now, it's not fenced in any way, but the low density of zombies, the two floors, and the proximity to an unlimited food supply (outside of winter) makes it, to me, an above average early base, and it can easily be used as a safehouse when you will have seriously settled in somewhere.

13:20 The farm at the bottom left is the best location in the game imo. Well, the best depends on what you want to do. But if you want a spot that is pretty close to everywhere on the map, then it's the best. Lower population than the one you suggested, especially if you consider the surrounding areas. You will have a proper road for your car and you can park pretty much up to 10 cars outside the house. It's a nice looking big house, and it has a fireplace. You don't have a well, but since it's so close to the house you suggested, you can use that well in emergency situations. It's pretty far to a gas station, but clearing out a gas station is always a problem, so you should make gas runs as sparingly as you can, which means you always bring a car. So it shouldn't be a problem. You have 4 or so choices at that location too, so depending on what town you have cleared out the most, you can adapt. The Riverside Bar is imo the best if you want to be in a town. The Rosewood Gas Station is a solid choice if you have no respawning. With respawns, no thx. That place will swarm will zombies. That town between Rosewood and Riverside have a similar Gas Station setup that is more or less as good. The one at 12:25 might be the best if it's ok to be in the middle of nowhere. If you want to travel to other places it might work if you set up a secondary base for offloading when you make runs. Then you can make many runs at a time and only take home the essential. I don't get the point with the fenced in locations. Sure, it's good to be fenced in, but you can make it yourself and if you're in a high pop location, you're a sitting duck. How are you going to get your cars into your base? Remote locations are vastly superior because you can easily go in and out and offload your car without being disturbed. Helicopters are also less of an issue. Being in a town is just bad in general. I only do it temporarily unless respawns are off. With no respawns, your location doesn't even matter because you can make anywhere completely safe.

@raidermaxx2324
@raidermaxx2324 3 года назад
@ilikebacon oh hahahahah i didnt know there was that setting.. bbut still, part of the " feel" of that game, is not knowing where or what is close to you in the map, right? like when you already know where everything is in the maps that come with the game, like you know that one where as soon as you leave your spawn spot, there is that school, and you know you go in there to get your backpack and hit up the school cafeteria,? Well, i dont play that map anymore because i know where everything is, its not the same feeling as when i was clueless to where i could find the shit i needed to survive or where the best spot to establish your fort\last stand spot would be, so to me, something defeats the intended "purpose" that the devs wanted to convey that makes PZ, PZ with an addition of a Ubisoft minimap at your beck and call. I mean there are plenty of maps to be found in game, as well as you have your own memory and repetition so why would you need one? The zombies showing up on the map, was just a really obvious and glaring aspect that i had noticed, and one of the first issues i had, but not the only, as you can see lol, and i had already unsubscribed to the mod to even know that an option to turen it off might exist..just not for me, but i still roll deep with 50 other mods lol

For the garage-area in westpoint warehouse you don't need a sledgehammer. There are always open garage doors, so if you kill zombies inside and get a key you can open the garage doors of the same building. Only thing where you could use a sledge (don't need because you can destroy doors) is for the greater building, where garagedoors don't open from the outside, even with a key. It's also one of my favourites. Other bases i like: -Westpoint Docks either the one near the school or the other one north east. Building your base on water gives a good control about the entrances. fishing and foraging areas nearby and the town isn't far away. -southern gas station of rosewood: it is a bit outside of town but there is a small lake nearby. -Muldraugh warehouse area near the motel: only one large vehicle needed to block the entrance, high generator chance, gas station nearby. -Riverside gated community: the last row of houses to the east can be blocked with vehicles, just like in rosewood. i would prefer riverside junk yard, though. - in Marchridge i like to use either the school or the cinema, with enough vehicles you can make them a safe place.

I went to the logging company on Apocalypse with default settings, and the place was overrun both inside the warehouses and in the parking lot. I tried to clear them out with my car and couldn't do it because more kept coming from the forest. On my map, the tavern was actually the safest location in Muldraugh, with a very small zombie presence and being closed to a gas station to supply the generator. There's also a lot of props you can break down for base building resources and it's just a short drive from the police station and warehouses.

I have a good one i did. Go to Riverside, the big gated community, youll need 3 gates and a small wall to wall about 30 houses in! And then you can loot all houses inside your compound and have near endless storage and easy lootings! Also expanding and base building there is real easy, you can forage south of the compound and, downside: no shops, just houses.. but just outside the compound to the west is all of riverside

Muldraugh tavern is great. It's at the end of town, with low zed population. It's right next to the gas station, and has easy access to the highway. There's a lockup right near it which has pretty much guaranteed generator as well as a small warehouse for tools/weapons. Collect every cooking pot/bucket and leave them outside until you've made water collectors.

In Riveside : the School : I break out windows, not all of them, maybe one on each side. Throw a rope out the window so I can enter the base on the second floor. Then if you have a sledgehammer break the stairs going up, this make upper area super safe. Also if you build a window up top where the stairs were, throw rope down for access from inside. NE sides of the school are fenced in, water collection and farming could be done as well. But this video has shown me awesome locations to build multi-bases and safe houses. It is truly about luck, what you find, how long the water and electricity is running. My son says every time he restarts, water shuts off in 4 days. He just found a van with 200 storage in the back, or near that much. Now that is truly a survival supply hauling vehicle. Might have to have him show me were abouts that was. Unless it too is the luck of the draw.

One of my favorites was the *smaller* office building, of the Lumberyard. Right past the McCoy sign. There are a ton of already cut logs, lots of woods, a place to forage and its a good distance from the warehouse. It isn't the largest, but it only has two windows on the bottom and you can always build on top of it. Very few zombie encounters...

I found the neighbourhood north north east the school in riverside to be very handy. One side is protected by the forest, I've never seen a zombie come from there in a month. Two of those backyard cabins where you can find generators garden saws screwdrivers are right next to it. Many houses, so a lot of water. Forest is close so perfect for foraging without getting too risky. And on top of that you have two barricaded houses, which have a MASSIVE weapons spawn: machetes, axes, a few guns and gun canisters and a lot others, idk if mods give you more or less weapons, but I have like the four most common weapon mods and the spawn is massive, quite enough to last for a big while. You're close to school but not too close, which I think can be good. Of course plenty of water and food and tools since plenty of houses. Spawn is rough at first but once you get their asses there won't be a lot more coming at you. Maybe the only thing about it is that it's got two big entrances and one small, apart from the northern side of the neighborhood which is just a simple fence, but as I've said just before, you've got the forest, and not a big number of zombies come from over here.

Absolutely loving that SH playthrough. Also really good to clear out WP inwards instead of getting flanked, oh and the train tracks just below you go straight to the rail yards with no zombies. 10/10. 2 months in and the base is a fortress. In one of my games I started as a fireman who spawned inside the Rosewood Fire Station. It’s so damn large and empty with some fences around its back and sides that I could build a decent farm there and store a lot of my looted stuff inside its rooms, lockers and shelves and still have space to park around 6 cars inside it (plus out on the parking lot)! Plus, it’s generally close to the downtown shopping strip so looting for food and stuff (and gas!) won’t be a major problem. Definitely one of my favorite bases! Too bad I can’t operate the treadmills in the built-in gym, otherwise I could get some fitness exercises done there when I power up my generator.

The school in riverside is the best place I've found so far. The school yard is 100% fenced in with high fencing. The fence side of the building is accessed by only 1 hallway and 3 doors which can easily be blocked with all the desks in the school that take no carpentry skill to move. The base can still be accessed from 4 sides by jumping the fence. Also once carpentry is high enough you can move the lockers build new walls to set them against in the hallway. IF you find a sledgehammer there are 2 sets of stairs to the massive second floor that can be destroyed. There is a full kitchen which you can move to the other side of the base, a watercooler, a huge library, a dozen steel cabinets, ample space for farming and a guaranteed backpack for loot. The desks and benches can be dismantled to level carpentry and build walls, stairs and rain collectors. All of the chairs (which there are like 100 of) can be dismantled to level metal working. You can loot all the houses around the base by just jumping over the fence in the back and the distance is so large its unlikely zombies will walk all the way around it to the front of the building nor can they hear a generator when placed on the center outside wall. All this and it's centrally located in the town so looting can be easily done without getting too tired. There are 3-4 sheds to the south that likely have a generator and maybe a gas can. Also if you back a car alllll the way to a chain-link fence you can access the trunk THROUGH the fence. Wall & fences > ropes. PS: Don't destroy stairs, destroy the floor at the top of stairs. Think of it as a sky moat.

First of all, the devs said that north is actually towards West Point, like, Muldraugh's highway runs north-south. I noticed you got that mixed up when talking of Rosewood! Anyways my personal "pet base" which you missed was Muldraugh's isolated house in the northern end of town, it's easy to block off the entrance with furniture, a car and eventually just a gate, it's safe, has good foraging opportunities, plenty of walled off farming space... It's nice! And you also missed the apartments above the hardware store and food market at West Point. You can even farm on the roof of the post office next door, for goodness sake!

Its probably not ideal, but I shacked up in the riverside boat club I think its called. Its the two story building right on the river, just north of the church. Its got two stairways to secure, but tons of books, tons of furniture, an entire kitchen, many bathroooms, close to woods, has cars all over, and you can easily go nearby for loot. Surprisingly not many zombies wander over despite being so close to everything. You can also create a fishing hut so you dont get snuck up on (yes, i learned the hard way).

I may be *very* late, but I might as well add my own personal pick: Thunder Gas station in West Point is where I'm holed up. 4 boards on each window, fenced off farm, walled off the road around it. Have 2 cars, a boxvan and a chevalier dart(?), for hauling loot in the van and scouting potential loot spots in the car. Relatively decent amount of space in the actual building for storage, bed, and oven. I like it. [Edit: it's definitely an early - mid game base, though. Stragglers in the woods sometimes tend to bunch up into small hordes, and it's easier to just lead them away than to kill them]

personally one of my old favorite bases was in West Points, living in the homes on top of the hardware and food store. Although you needed a sledge hammer to make it *safe*. Plus you can access a cement roof from one of the windows, which gave you an area to cover in dirt, and grow your crops. From there you can just relax, and watch the zombies mill about, from above. Connect a bridge a path to the local buildings. Fun times. xD

The “riverside restaurant” just right by the river is a good spot. Rare building with open balcony, perfect for farming. Build a “skybridge” from the balcony to the lake and you will get 100% safe fishing spot and unlimited tainted water access. Not only does it have decent-ish access to all areas if you have a car, there's a gas station nearby as well as ample water sources and hardy any zombie spawns. i used the far left 3 houses of the gated community in Riverside. The south entrance to those 3 houses can be sealed with a simple log wall with only maybe 10 - 12 sections and the north the same... The entire thing is surrounded by a zombie proof iron fence if you seal the 3 houses off right at the southnermost narrow point you have an area sealed and filled with trees with excellent forage and you can easily keep an eye on the zombies through the wall to loot surrounding houses. Once you get a car it is a night short trip to the warehouse and storage lockers to the north, the river is clos enough even on foot and the gated community has a low zombie population anyway.... I know you hate riverside but if I spawn there on a random spawn I always head straight for those 3 houses in that gated community

Just a couple days ago at the time of writing this me and a friend were playong together and went to loot and secure the place so we could use it as a safehouse if one of us got caught out at night. I've been using the storage unit facility out of Muldraugh(?) It's fenced off except for one entrance, and the facility loops back around to the except so it could be used for a clever escape. I moved some essentials inside one of the lockers (i.e. bed, microwave/stove, fridge, storage containers) and keep my generator and water collector barrels outside the locker, and soon I'll be gathering the necessary materials to do some farming. These potential base are really good selection for new players learning the game (I choose the 2nd in Muldraugh), depending on your gameplay you should at least check the following : > spacious enough for farm, parking area and building spaces > pre-walled (wire fences zombies can see you, entrance needed to be blocked) > distance to nearest town (further = less threat and challenge, you rarely defend it, closer = risky but makes defending it challenging, not advised for new players) > built-ins (well, farm, large storage furnitures and shelves, etc.) > resource abundance (near forest, gas station, lake/river) > Are you a hoarder/collector? Then base size for those who would like to collect all furniture, posters, arcade machine, vehicles and such. (not a bad end game idea/challenge, The Collector)

My personal favorite base is the small house, North-West up the highway from Rosewood. The first right off the highway (a couple mailboxes marking the drive), there is a road that splits very shortly on. There is a small one room house on the corner, loot/ignore this. To the left there is a long road that leads to a warehouse that usually has farming supplies. Straight is a little house with a high-fenced in back yard. There's oftentimes at least one zombie, but once you clear that out, it is isolated enough to never get zombies wandering in. Even the ONE time the house was alarmed, it attracted nothing to it. Though i wouldn't count on that with a helicopter. But, the backyard is set up and ready to be used as a farm. With its close proximity to Rosewood (and pretty prime spot just off the Highway, so also very close to Fort Redstone if you have that mod, and the military base in the woods if you want to take the time to drive out there), it's easy to get to and easy to get more supplies for a long time.

On the other hand, the lumber yard was clear of zeds, and there were lots of cars around so I was able to get out.

Oh, Rosewood firestation is pretty much SS tier for noobs like me. I knew it was strong but I never released how much it was. I died over and over again until it hit me. Top floor has living quarters and a kitchen, double door garage on bottom floor, a gym, a lot of containers, fire axe, fire gear, med supplies, hammer, saw, nails, cleaning products, and washing machines. The police station (north) has cigarettes and guns, the suburbs to the east have a high chance of having a generator/carpentry things (and food obviously) and then there is the construction site south which you already covered. The firestation is nearly all fenced, but crafting barricades and walls is trivial cause you already have all the tools needed, and then you can farm in the backyard. But yeah all that block is pretty much top tier.

My favorite spot is the 2 stories gas station in the rural town at the middle of the map, you will need to wall it off yourself but it would only take a week or less. There are a lot of plaster and painting at the stores to make the zombies avoid the walls. And you can trap over the road. There is also a fishing pond for water and farming next to it. also halfway to mauldrought there is a antique stove in a cabin i always pick up.

I had a BAAAD experience at that last one in Muldraugh! I was wounded, blacking out, it was night time and there were zombies EVERYWHERE! Somehow I turned it around and got to a house sometime the next morning and lived to see day 13.

I have to say, the fire station in Rosewood is also optimal. Not only are all the rooms easily allocated for living, storage and gun rooms, it has 2 floors and the garage is optimal to store two vehicles. And if you barricade / block the windows and door, the only way in or out is the garage, which makes it easily defendable. With ropes hanging from the second floor, escaping in times of need is easy.

I didn't play zomboid game for years but last time I play. I like westpoint at school. Just beef up cover windows and doors smarsh all stairs only use cloth to rope out/in. Grow farm on the roof. Of course first move all desk from 2nd floor to 1st floor to few stack block the doors and window and move library to 2nd floor before destory all stairs.

There's a house for beginners to start a small beginner's safe zone. It's located in a square with 4 simple houses, there aren't much zombies around and the area is often empty with no zombies around, if so, a few will appear. Another place is the Rusty rifle, a building with a lot of rooms to start a good base, if u have a sledge hammer you can destroy the stairs and the base is pretty much yours. It's away from the center of muldraugh and have a gas station, police station, VHS store and diners around.

A place i love is a secluded farmhouse to the north-east (kinda) of Rosewood... no zombie spawns, near a small neighborhood to loot some stuff early in game, the only con i find is that you have to travel a long distance from every spawn location.

In Westpoint you missed the 3 store office building right up North of the church! It's near a shitload of lootable locations and the balcony makes it possible to grow a garden or lay down traps without leaving the building. Ideal for solo base camp or a large group.

Two sets of stairs, take out the big windows to make garage doors and good to go. Can put stairs up to the very top for more farm space. Great for a clan

I've been reading the comments, and i don't think anyone has mentioned the gas station all the way to the west of the map, there are 2 houses that are 2 stories high and have double fence 3/4 the way round, gas station at the end of the drive, small diner, a camping shop and a gun store, very remote so no zombies, also just east of it is a little housing place with a medical clinic and another diner along with 20 or so houses to loot, always the best place for a base, i think all the ones you mentioned i would consider as "safehouses", a base should be away from everything, no chance of being overrun, a safehouse is not so secluded, but your only gonna be there 1 night a week whilst on a run, just my opinion
