I have watched several clips to explain how to use Projected attribute to apply texture to a curve face but this is the most short, sharp and easy to understand.

Thanks! As a woodworker, I haven't had the need for projected textures but I appreciate having the knowledge if I ever need it.

Your comment about texture grids at 6:00 now explains why I have issues with wood grain textures being oriented incorrectly, after using ''Sample Material' ('Alt' key in Paint Bucket) and painting new surfaces... Thanks!

didn't realise it projected in a grid formation from the original material, which explains why I have had issues like this in the past. I have tried turning on hidden geometry and selecting one surface of the curved face and applying to that and then making it projected as a workaround in some cases.

Hi Aaron, hope I'm spelling your name correctly, I use Sketch Up to design cabinets and millwork. I have been searching for an indepth instructional video by you, specifically on how to build my own library of wood textures and finishes, so that I can more accurately "paint" my models and evaluate the species of wood or veneers I'm planning on using. You may have already made one, but I haven't found it. If that is the case a reference link would be appreciated. Otherwise would you consider creating one? I would hope that it would be in the Skill Builder series since I consider my level intermediate. Ok thanks for you time. One comment on the weekly live modelling series. I really enjoy your teaching and have been learning a lot regarding work flow and how you simplify your modelling process. It's a very professional studied approach. But I often get distracted but that side kicks Jody's off putting, off topic comments. I guess I don't get his sarcastic sense of humor. Sorry if that seems harsh. I try and ignore his remarks and stay focused on your instructions but he can be a major distraction. The live videos would be more enjoyable if he could develope a more professional tone, refrain from the cheeky and coy insults. He probably believes he's adding to the dialogue but it doesn't come across that way from my perspective. I would wager I'm not alone in this regard. Any way I'm still a fan and will continue. The info you present is well worth the effort it's takes to ignore the adolescent chatter.

I would be interested in learning this too. And is it possible to take photos of different woods with various finishes and use those in SketchUp. Does it help to include something to scale the texture from in the photo?

Hello Aaron. When you add texture to a curved surface, it doesn't tile or repeat. But when I do the same, the texture is tiled. What am I doing wrong?

I used projected textures a few times, one way to position the texture is to align the projected texture surface to the object I want to apply the texture on, so if I were to use x-ray view it would appear where I wanted it to be, Can you make a follow of video showing how to apply a texture on a cylinder, Thanks Aaron

Hi, I am designing the interior of a penthouse and want to add the surrounding view as a panorama picture. I am trying this by putting a giant convex shape around the house and project the panorama on it, but it does not work... any suggestions?

You said arc tool but you meant 2pt arc, which is what you used. That apart excellent demo!
