Lots of projections and lots of parameters. What's a mapper to do?

Hey John! I love your videos very very much, and I wanted to point out that when setting the geographic coordinate system (GCS) here for a suggested projected coordinate system, you should definitely be selecting the GCS that's intrinsic to the data layer whose "blank" (in this case you chose 'area') you want to preserve. Unless this tool runs in some way that is absolutely nuts, then (without getting into the details) the nature of projection says that the suggested transformation (applied projection) at the end is gonna be roughly based on (meaning, these things are very important): the starting GCS, the extent, and that 'quality' you want to preserve. OK I'm done nerding out over here :)

Thanks for the kind words and this note! I'll have to read it a couple times to try to understand it.

@@JohnNelsonMaps haha, looking back at my comment, it's about twice as long as I remember it being! My explanation aside, I noticed there's a hover-over tooltip that also suggests using the GCS of the dataset you're focusing on - it's interesting that we are even given the choice to go beyond the GCSs of the layers actually~ sidebar - those tooltips/links actually rule
