I've never heard this miraculous score sound so intense, yet warm, glowing and tender. But it also has tang and bite when required - that oboe! those double basses from 21:40! This orchestra under Maestro Chung is a wonder.
Absolutely the best performance of Prokofiev masterpiece. The best conducting and amazing orchestra! I was looking for this performance, I am glad it was posted again! But the one I was looking for was shot before pandemic.
@@Maryas58 . Yes. It’s so strange, why the Paris philharmonic delisted the version which could have been the pride piece of their work! It was great visually as well. Absolutely grand! Music is unique, with very distinctive individual style, no doubt! Russians are actually super surprising in finding unique expressions of their soul and feelings. Truly something else, just like their literature. Such a emotional intelligence! Makes you lose your sleep and stay stunned for along time . With tears or not, it’s the deep and profound as it can get! There is also so much of curiosity… I can go on endlessly 🤣
Quelle harmonie! Quelle performance! Bravo à Maestro Chung et l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France! ❤

I came here because the top choice for this piece was a video of Valerie Gergiev with the Marinsky, and (sorry, but) it was just awful. searching down a few more pages and I came across this recording, which I personally think is superb
