Omg. I hated it at first, but her vision and your skill completely turned it around! The red lining and new neckline made it stunning a wonderful color on her!
I thought it was very pretty but it didn't suit her shape until the alterations were made. I agree it's stupid to put a non stretch liner on a stretchy dress. What is the point?
As someone who sews garments and has done alterations, my hat's off to you. People don't realize that alterations can be much harder to do and make professional-looking than sewing a garment from scratch!
I came here to make this exact comment. The only alterations I do are for myself because if I want to pause for an indefinite amount of time or just flat out quit in the middle of it I can.
Yeah that makes sense dealing with fixing someone else's work would be a pain instead of just doing it "right" the first time. Plus I imagine the pressure of the person already loving the dress and there only being the one that they've already bought and paid for and a finite amount of fabric is stressful.
Very much so. I don’t do a lot of sewing alterations, however I’ve done a bunch of alterations/“fixing someone’s f’d up shit” both with peoples failed DIY furniture, hair colour/cuts and photos. It’s always SO much harder to work with someone’s already half done and messed up stuff. The wiggle room you have is minimal and you just have to make do with (more often than not) very little since they only asked you for help because it’s bad. They often expect a miracle, which is difficult to achieve when the thing they came in with is in bad condition and just uuuuugly. Like when people want me to save their hair, they come in with orange noodle hair (it’s breaking off due to damage) and wants me to make it healthy and platinum blonde/silver. Well I can’t do that. Colouring virgin hair that’s (obviously) not fried is so much easier than to fix someone else’s failed vision.
I can totally see that. Cuz when she said take the lining out the dress I started huffing snd puffing like I had to do the work.😂 I'm tired just from thinking about it.
The transformation was incredible. Amazing how just changing the colour of the lining, makes the gown look so much better; and because the lining is stretchy, the gown falls better, and fits the client perfectly. Great job. 👏🏻👏🏻
You’re a great seamstress, what you did is like sawing the whole gown which is not easy to do but you did it with passion, care and love of what you do.❤
Wow, just wow! I've seen few of your altering videos and I'm just in awe at your talent. Your work always comes out with the most beautiful results. Your clients are very lucky to be able to enjoy your sewing talents 👏👏👏
WOW, changing the lining from gold to red made ALL the difference!!! Such beautiful sequin fabric but you couldn't see the full sparkle until you placed the red under layer, but when you did...BAM!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
This is the third reel of yours I've watched and I have to say that you are a fabric whisperer. You just know what you can do after getting your hands on the dress, feeling the fabric, notions, seam allowances. You are quite talented and creative, but in a very practical way. That's how you'll make it big!

I'm so happy to find your channel. It is wonderful that you are sharing all that goes into doing "alterations". This was not doing a fitting alteration. This was creating an entire new dress using existing fabric that needed to be deconstructed first. Twice the work! It is way more detailed than sewing a dress from scrap!!! Fabulous!! She looks great!❤❤❤❤
Wow! STUN-NING!!! One of my co workers mother was a ‘tailor’ did not call herself seamstress. I’d hear all the stories of shock over cost. Clients coming with a handkerchief of material-make me a floor length gown-not dress-GOWN! There’s a difference. I bought 3 materials to make dresses but neglected to ask price-80’S-$150.00 for skirts no blouse yet another 75. So I quietly didn’t say I’d buy them tucked material away coz while WORTH every penny I didn’t have it. I understood the value. Custom anything is worth every penny you’ll have it for years! God you do his work on those alterations/REMAKING CHEAP into DESIGNER!!!🙏🏻❤️😎
I want to give props to you and the client. Props to you for an outstanding workmanship on that dress and props to the client for having the vision to change the lining of the dress from gold to red and wanted an halter top instead. With an excellent skills like yours you made magic happen with each one of those dresses you happen to work on 👏🏿❤️
You my dear, are an artist. The dress looks like it came from couture. She looks stunning now that the liner was replaced. It fits her beautiful shape perfectly.
I've sewn for 50 yrs. I have to say doing alterations is stressful It's not my thing. But you deserve a medal for wking on all these dresses. People don't realize how much skill and patience it takes. Bravo🎉🎉 good job!

WOW that lining made such a difference! I think taking the stomach in a bit and adding some boneing would have made the dress even better but this outcome is still amazing.
