*UPDATE: I emailed 101 Films regarding the transfer on this release. I was informed that this release features the same transfer as the Synapse Films' release from a few years ago.

I think you have the best cadence of any youtuber I'm subscribed to. In one of your recent videos/livestreams you said you worked with the mentally handicapped, also you include your brother in a lot of your content (which is great!) It's most definitely and obviously clear, in a great way. I work in elderly care with severe dementia patients and you sound like you'd fit right in there with your speaking style as well. Not sure if you get enough credit for that, but it's definitely noticed by me.

but Jamie's character isn't really the final girl - the Final girl in Prom Night is in fact the Final boy Nick, played by Casey Stevens.

I recently watched this. I had seen it when I was a teenager and remembered not thinking much of it. However, upon seeing it recently, I was shocked at how well done and made this is. Nice review, Piz.

I love the murder sequence at the prom with the disco music droning on through the whole scene. It helped with pacing and adds a fun mood. Great review!

To me, Jamie Lee wasn’t really needed in this film. A good twist would have been she was in on the plot to murder the kids responsible for the death of her sister. But she was just there. Wendy should have been the final girl. She was bitchy but interesting. We rooted for her to live which is odd considering the bitchy characters we don’t like get killed off. Another thing i really don’t like how is the four main targets didn’t even know why the killer was after them. We needed more interactions between them since they were the core to the story. But overall, it was good.

I agree Curtis doesn't really do anything in the movie she's just kinda there I also agree that the characters needed more interactions so we could see how they feel about the past event. Overall this was an OK Giallo movie but nothing special.

This movie is just Ok I think it's honestly only remembered because Curtis is in it besides that the killer being sympathetic is good the movie has a good atmosphere the film is less slasher and more a Giallo film. The first half is mostly fine but does drag after a while the dance number also drags the murder mystery is predictable by the end and the film ends way too abrupt compared to other Giallo films or the good to great ones this movie is just Ok nothing terrible or amazing but OK. Curtis in this film is more like a strong average well liked girl compared to Halloween where she was more the bookworm virgin hero I disagree she was more prototype final girl in this as compared to Halloween where she was the token virgin.

I don't know. Given that I find things like the killing of a character in "Breaking Bad" with a box cutter entirely too gruesome to watch, with the realism including character development outweighing my moral objections to that character's actions and associations in terms of being able to luxuriate in his demise, thus making it so tremendously unpleasant, I don't know if the lack of character development in slasher movies in the '80s was so much a matter of laziness and/or apathy as it might have been about keeping things fun and not making them too heavy and deep for people of a normal level of empathy who were just trying to have a good time. Having the supposed threat of thermonuclear annihilation hanging over your head perpetually was deep and dark enough for most people, I'm sure. This may be evident to some, so excuse me if that is the case, but such a shift from wanting to have fun with entertainment to looking for depth, etc. is very much in line with the shift during the early ‘90s from rock music that was about forgetting your cares and enjoying yourself to depressive, dark grunge and the rise of gangsta rap which, early on, gave stark depictions of the incredible dysfunction and horrific degrees and amounts of violence being carried out in the inner city, though it also served the purpose of eventually paradoxically depicting those engaged in such things as some kind of heroes or at least the “cool, edgy” ones who were more "interesting" than those actual men who function on the basis of conscience and high regard for justice and decency in their midst. People nonetheless talk about the dramatic movies and TV series of today being "an escape" for them, but how can that be when what they induce is a significant amount of stress, and a whole range of emotions, centered around people and events that DO NOT REALLY EVEN EXIST? This is similar to the way so many get caught up in and emotionally invested in sports, while, invariably, the winning or loss of a sports game HAS NO PRACTICAL EFFECT ON ANYTHING IN THE WORLD OF ANY SIGNIFICANCE WHATSOEVER!
