When this song first dropped, I listened to it a lot. From June of 2021 to March of 2023, I was taking care of my mother as her primary caregiver. She was declining rapidly, and I was told by hospice that she didn't have much longer. I was out of work on FMLA, and doing my best to hold it all together. My mom passed away on March 6th, 2023. This song really ministered to me during those difficult days. I still go back to it often. Thank you Disciple.

10 years ago headed for the bridge. Decided to give life one more try. That decision landed me at a homeless shelter...on Dec. 24th. I held my hands up and said, "O.K. God. Don't know why you put me HERE after all my prayers, but ok. Show me what you want me to see." Today...I am a very LOUD MOUTH advocator for them, going back to school with gov't grant for social work, and working on a Christian based mental health help pamphlet for them...BY one of them! P.S. I turn SIXTY-TWO years old tomorrow!!! My thanks to Jesus first, then Discipline for this early birthday present!!! 🪔 HE is STILL lighting my path! Take your mess... ...and turn it into a... My mom has called me fat,stupid & incompetent my whole life and it made me so depressed, I have to raise my siblings who are 10&9 years younger then me cause of how much Mom and dad fight and it made me self harm and I thought about killing myself almost everyday...my dad choked me and called me stupid one day and that made me cut my arms so bad l but Jesus came and saved me by showing me disciple👏 I still struggle but I am getting better...thank you disciple

No one deserves to be maligned, refused medical tests and treatments- like a second class citizen for their size. It really breaks my heart that the dieting medical industry labels us as an epidemic and crisis. That's why I'm an advocate for people with eating disorders and chronic illness. When this song first dropped I was laying in bed, I grabbed my headphones so I didn’t wake my husband. And immediately burst into tears. This song transported me back to being alone in my bedroom 8 years ago when I was sooo depressed, struggling badly with self harm. That night God gave me a dream and He spoke to me. The next day I put my “tools” in the offering basket at church, as a symbol of giving it all up for good and fully surrendering everything to God. This song explains exactly what it felt like to really encounter Christ in the midst of the darkest time in life. He was never not there. I just didn’t know how to hear Him. But He saved my life and has showed up for me countless times since. This song means soo much me too and to everyone who listens😭🫶🏻
I was SA'ed when I was 18, and came close to "ending it all" after the assault 😢 I would stay in my room for days and just cry. I had told my friends, but they didn't believe me 😢 One day, when I was feeling really down to the point that I was thinking "I can't take this anymore", my stereo came on (it had a short in it; turn off and on) and Air1 was playing Disciple's song Dear X (you don't own me). I listened and then broke down in tears. God was talking to me through Disciple. Disciple saved my life ❤❤❤❤ I made my Promise after hearing Promise to Live for the first time when they were at WinterJam ❤🫶 I'm married to the best husband in the world, and I have 2 beautiful children now. I'm living the best life I could have only ever imagined. I have the word "Promise" tattooed on the outside of my right wrist. That way, with my hand on my heart, I keep my Promise to Live for my family. I love this album and the band Disciple so much. I can't wait for the music video.
I'm a survivor too. I truly truly believe to live is for Christ!!! He deserves the reward for his suffering- in me. He's going to get what he deserves. He is going to get what he wants. I am his.... That motivates me to not only share the gospel but to live as a servant. For the wages of sin is death, but Christ paid those wages on the cross in his life's blood. On the cross he said it is finished which means paid in full.
I fell out of faith many years ago. But while I was still going to youth group I found these guys and saw them live with Superchick. Even got to meet the band after the show. The album Scars Remain was played in my car all throughout my teens. Even through all the hate I had for God and his Church at that point in my life. This band spoke to me. Their songs Someone and After The World got me through so much hardship, and I am so grateful for that. God called me home little over a year ago. Praise The Lord God Almighty!

That’s good to know because I have a great nephew that listens to Nirvana and Seether. I’ve heard about Nirvana but I really didn’t know what to tell him. His family needs Jesus for sure and we’re a lot of miles a part but he has been messaging me lately and asking me about this music. Never met him in person, he’s about 13 now I guess. My first time hearing this song was also my first time seeing Disciple in concert. It was in Huntington, AR on November 15, 2023. I’ve made a Promise To Live and share the Gospel of Jesus every single day since that night. Just as the video says at the end if you are going through something or you know someone who is going through something, I want you to know one thing: YOU MATTER! Not just to your family or friends, but also to the one who created you! Isaiah 43:1 “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. You are mine.”” You might be going through the hardest season of your life, but always remember you belong to a King and you matter to Him! He loves you!
Honestly, I am a Combat Veteran from Iraq and Afghanistan. I struggle with PTSD and depression. Disciple really lifts me up like no other Christian band has done in a very long time. Listening to Disciple is like listening to Petra from my youth days, Disciple Rocks! I thank God for Disciple.
I've lived in the faith pretty much my whole life. That said: In school, I was bullied badly for years and years, along with my 2 little sisters. In 8th grade, one of my bullies attempted to kill me in the gym locker room. (13 years old then) When I was in 9th grade, (15 years old) my sister was raped by a guy easily 3 or more times her age and me and my friends and her friends were across the street in the park and none of us knew that happened. I didn't know about it until she had to stab the guy in his arm when she was in 10th grade and still only 15. (17 years old) For the longest time I felt like a useless big brother because I wasn't able to protect her from him. I wanted to kill myself in 10th grade when I was 16 but that same day, my now best friend of over 17 years happened to be rearranged to sitting next to me and we just became friends and found a lot in common between us. He grew up in a Christian home as well and he was still shy from home schooling from K-8th, then 9-12 in public school. We just started hanging out all the time and built an unbreakable bond as friends. Skip ahead to 18: The bully who attempted to kill me in 8th grade had his restraining order lifted and he sent an apology on Facebook messenger ojce he turned 18 in September which I didn't see until December and the apology was thorough and he asked for forgiveness. To this day, I haven't heard from him or how he's been doing but I have wanted to meet him again to thank him for apologizing and the fact he also asked for forgiveness so he could start fresh. Skip ahead several years to just a few years ago. I wasn't able to see my kids over a stupid court case that had no victims other than myself due to my property being the property that was damaged. Well, from May until a few days after my birthday in early September, I didn't get to see them and the only person keeping me going then was my then fiancée. I couldn't sugarcoat it that I wanted to end it because I couldn't see my kids for months and it wasn't due to work or military training or deployment (veteran with PTSD but didn't deploy) but a court order that was definitely unjust. When I could finally see them, my son couldn't handle the hugs but my daughter just took it all in and just allowed me to hold her and cry from the happiness I had finally having them in my arms again. Went to the park, went for ice cream and something to eat, then didn't see them for a while after again. But, my resolve is always going to be getting to see my little ones again. I love them so much and I would die protecting them and to keep them safe. Having such a rough life growing up (the above only being a snippet of a snippet), Mt character grew drastically and having been involved in church for years, making it was made a little easier. I'm a truck driver now and I know over the last several years I have helped many not kill themselves and tried what I could to help them grow. I never care how old someone is if they need help. I've helped kids as young as at the time 11 or 12 not kill themselves and even tho I didn't hear from them again, I was confident they grew up. It's been a goal for me to be there for anyone who needs someone to talk to about anything and I don't tell anyone about their secrets if they tell me them or what they're going through. The first time I heard this song I cried so much. On August 12, 2007 I was in a car accident with two friends that should have killed all 3 of us, but we all survived. I got a traumatic brain injury from it that has limited me greatly, and for many years I’ve had many nights where I’ve cried myself to sleep wondering why this all happened. But this song reminds me that God has a purpose and plan for my life. Through all the anxiety and depression I’ve fought, Christ has given me the strength to keep fighting it all, and will do that for all of us if we trust Him completely. I’m doing things again all the professionals and doctors said I’d never do again, I even wrote a book about it all to help others struggling like myself. We may not or ever know why bad things happen but there’s a reason for the life that we have. No matter what you been through, you’re not a mistake. Your life has meaning, every breath you take proves you have a purpose! God has a plan for us all. Our story’s not done!
I have the Skeleton Psalms CD. Praise the LORD for this song, it reminds after all the stupid mistakes i've made that Jesus still loves me and that repentance is a daily thing in the Christian life, not just when you come to Christ. Praise the LORD for His mercies, they are new every morning.

When I got to hear you guys talking over what to do for this video on the bus I felt like I was really getting to be in on something special. This video turned out INCREDIBLE, and admittedly spotting myself (twice) and my best friend in it made me so happy. 😂 There were so many spots I saw that I knew I had photos of exactly that moment, photos that I have LOVED ever since because I’m real proud of how they turned out. When I was young, 2 of my friends committed suicide and a couple attempted suicide. When I was in my mid teens my father shot himself. I made myself, family and friends the promise I would not follow in my fathers footsteps.
I promise to live because after struggleing with depression since age eleven my dad suddlenly died from a rare heart condition I also have. My life changed overnight. I went from just trying to survive depression to living my lfe to the fullest and trying to honor God with whatever time I have left-whether ir be nine years or ninety.
This song makes me emotional every time I hear it. Such a good and powerful song. It came out at the right time last year. I was dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression, I heard this song and it spoke to me. I've never had thoughts of suicide, but have felt so alone before, especially before I knew Jesus, but last year this song really spoke to me. At the age of 6 my dad showed me that I was a burden and in the way. I was very depressed. At the age of 11 my dad sexually abused me for 6 years. I wanted to die. I tried at the age of 17 several times. GOD stopped me from killing myself. I hated myself. GOD had to show me that HE was always there and never left me. I had to learn what GOD's love was all about and realize that HE was an amazing Father. GOD showed me that I needed to forgive my dad and my mom, she knew what was going on and didn't stop it. It took me about 30 years for me to forgive my dad, but I did. GOD restored my relationship with my dad before he died and my dad said he was wrong and sorry for what he did to me. I know that GOD is an amazing Father and I pray that if only one person reads this and realizes that HE will never leave them or forsake them. GOD is real and HE loves you so much. Please don't push Him away for walk away from Him. He is the answer your looking for.

I lost my best friend (which was practically like an overprotective older brother) to suicide by cop 4 years ago this November. Because of everything with Covid, I just felt like I had to suck it up and try to move on. I heard this song for the first time 2 years to the day it happened. It's what broke me! 😢 I just feel like I needed to thank you for that.

Back in 2007, I had a family member who committed suicide. When I was between 6th and 7th grades my uncle attempted suicide but believe Adonai spared him. Fast forward to June 2007, he succeeded in taking his own life. Sometimes, I find myself remembering him because songs and wonder with the question, 'why?' For 7 years, I had a difficult time of accepting his decision and forgive him. It was not until 2014 reading a passage in Job chapter 3 that helped me accept and forgive him of his choice. Sometimes the thoughts of my uncle flood my thoughts because of song or group I would hear through the company radio station, such as the band Heart; they were one of his favorite bands. Sometimes the memory of his passing ,it still stings but I carry resentment no more thanks to the passage I read in Job 3 back in 2014. Which was at a time I was getting ready to go through a divorce.
