I'am one of the Founders of the Hatfield McCoy Trail System. It was Hell trying to get these leases from Coal Companies & Local Approval To Ride On Paved Roads to access trails. Y'all must Respect Areas Of Trails, Open Areas and areas that are "Red Circle, Do Not Drive On Or Over, Even If You See Tracks From Previous Vehicles. They maybe washed out or trying to reclaim by eventually regrading, seeding. Y'all that abuse the trails, riding on areas you aren't supposed to, as I see a red circle sign on the open area you are climbing. Their is a open path right next to the one y'all are climbing. Keep On Abusing The Trail Systems And Don't Be Surprised When The Environments Movements Force The Government To Close The Trail Systems. Erosion, Soils In Creeks, Abusing The State Roads By Wreckless & Speeding. Respect The Trails & Roads. This Is Not Your Rights To Ride, But A Privilege.
The sign is less than the width of a cellphone and is easily missed. The trails were very nice but finding your way without a GPS app was very difficult due to lack of good signage. You make good points, but we had an average speed of 12 MPH that day and probably did not go over 15 MPH in this clip. I know the trails will get closed down eventually and there is nothing you or I can do about it except enjoy it while it last.
