I met Moe in Florida and watched him hit balls. I kept saying to myself “you cannot do that, no one can do that” but he did it over and over again. Hitting 3 woods out of a divot perfectly straight and long, he hit 5 balls at the 50 yard sign and hit the sign 3 times and he hit every shot straight. There were others watching and many of them were teaching pros and men and women tour pros. We were all amazed and almost in shock. He really was that good. I flew from Germany just to see Moe and was not disappointed, it was worth it.

That's awesome. Incredibly awesome. I would have loved to just walk the course and talk with him about life. It'd be extremely nice to watch him hit, but to chat with him sincerely... I feel like he'd welcome that more than anything. Guy has had question after question drilled on him. Talking about the randomness of life would be more of a joy I'm assuming. Really sucks I never got to do this. The funny thing is ... I feel like I can hear him telling me what to do sometimes when I'm on the course practicing for hours on end. "stop fighting positions kid"

Yesterday, I went to the range. Hit @ 150 balls trying to use Moe's technique. I estimate @ 30 shots went dead straight and far! Of the rest of them, @ 60 shots were OK and @ 60 were bad. This was the 3rd day in 4 weeks, I had a club in my hand (in many years); the first day after studying Moe and Graves over the last 2 weeks. I was completely surprised and encouraged! I will be 64 this month. Over the course of my life, I have had an estimated total of 30 days hitting a golf ball. 4 weeks ago, during a visit to WV, I played 2 rounds of 18 with borrowed clubs, scoring 132 and 131, respectively. Then, I found Moe and "Little Moe" on RU-vid! I'm looking forward to many days of improving golf ⛳ in the future. Thanks.

We as golfers love the feeling of middling a ball, then times the exhilaration by 10 if it goes where we’re looking. I, personally can hit balls all day everyday at 54 until the swelling starts. Back, wrists, hands, shoulders etc. I can’t get enough of it so I watch Moe, the man who loves it the most.

What a privilege to watch the great man's swing, Thank you to you Todd, Mark and your teams for keeping Moe's memory alive. I've tried the one plane swing for a time but not had the confidence or knowledge to stick with it. I'm tempted again to give it another go when the course and range opens up again. I'll never tire seeing Moe's swing and the sound of his ball striking is a thing of beauty.

Just went to my range to do the same. No balls out as there was rain last night but I chipped and putted(probably worse than Moe) the chipping technique worked sooo well I sat there and used my 50 degree gap wedge and 55 sandy from 35-20 yards. I was surprised by the results.

I've gone down a rabbit hole, one that Moe dug (straight of course). Bought the book & watching videos galore. I've gone into small steps of trying his swing, but I've gained much more than a better game of golf,. by learning about Moe, he's fantastic & a true role model - I'm utterly addicted. Love it, thanks from Scotland - He's really our kind of guy & I was glad to see he's got Scottish ancestors....I'd have loved him anyway, but love him even more :)

I like the observation of when Moe spoke, you need to listen to what he said because he is teaching you something about golf. I find myself rewinding videos to hear what he said to understand what he is teaching in his clinics. I have heard other personnel stories from other golfers and the way they would explain is exactly how Moe would speak and you hear what is said as if Moe was talking himself. He had a unique way of saying something that sticks between the ears. Thanks Mark and Todd.

"With this swing, and being smarter, nobody would've touched me"...very interesting comment from mr Moe. Hogan once said “I played with a young kid [Nicklaus]. If he’d known how to win, he would’ve won by seven strokes.” And look how Jack Nicklaus turned out. If only someone took mr Moe under their wing or someone influenced him positively like all the greats were influenced for the better. Its sad, very sad. Mr Moe could have been the greatest of the greats.

I agree but in some ways I believe Moe will contribute more to the game of golf than most of the great players - simply because even after he is gone he continues to help others find joy in the game. There should be a Hall of Fame for that.

Thanks Todd for your dedication to keeping Moe's legacy alive. I have 1-question that no one has talked about; why did Moe need to set the club face behind the ball and then more it back 6 to 9 inches further behind the ball before starting his back swing? Hope to hear an answer from you. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to you and yours.
@rw21r1
@rw21r1 3 года назад
Moe answers this on a couple different occasions. His response was “I’ve just always done that since I was 9, you wouldn’t teach that though it’s just something I do”. He also went on to say that “it starts the right shoulder back earlier and eliminates 8 inches of backswing and that’s one more variable to eliminate”.

@ToddGravesGolf
@ToddGravesGolf Год назад
when you throw a ball, you step forward as your arm goes back. When you skip a rock, you step forward as your arm go back. When you swing a club, you move into your lead leg (step without stepping) before your arms complete the top of the backswing. This is all part of sequencing.

@TheWedgeWizard
@TheWedgeWizard Год назад
That’s what I was thinking, that wasn’t that great out of the bunker and neither were those wedge shots considering you couldn’t get an easier shot and it’s easy to hit the same shot over and over. Instead of hitting different shots from different angles and yardages. Any decent player is going to do just as well if not better. On modern hard/fast greens your going to struggle with that chunk and run style short game. Moe was probably the most accurate driver of the ball ever, but his short game was mediocre.

Autism ..Asperger’s my guess fixation to ball striking brilliant…interpersonal skills dealing with other humans limited…sad…whether it was this or an injury to his head, we play the cards we are dealt those cards determine the ratio of pleasure and pain we experience the ratio of either varies so so much from human to human. Then we die in most cases handing the baton on to those that replace us to try and figure it out. Good Luck! If it was mainly good then appreciate it.

Some day I am going to have to email you my story of how just your videos here have helped me improve my ball striking. For now I will just say I went from a nasty slice & having to set up stupid to correct it to a 90%+ grouping of 5dgerees of deviation either side of center in 100 balls. Even with some medical issues that would probably keep most from swinging. It truly is a Feeling of Greatness to be able to have confidence where your ball is going to go. Thanks for all your work. If I ever get my workers comp settlement I will be sure to send you a donation towards the video and maybe even attend some schools. Moe had a very consistent setup, so much so that it is almost easy to miss. You likely know it better than anyone. He seems to stand, feet fairly close together open to the target and bit farther away from the ball and places the driver on the ground square to the target between himself and the ball. Then he takes his stance, seems a bit close with his lead foot forward of the target line and sets the driver on the ground, maybe 4-6 inches behind the ball, takes a very short waggle, picks the head up and turns back about 12-18 inches behind the ball(Todd I am sure you have measured the exact distance) then he stops at that point for a very short time with the club on the turf picke the club up and fires. He does almost the same thing with his irons. It is seemingly just as consistent as his swing! Am I missing much more in his setup? Thanks Todd for our recognition of Moe’s genius and perhaps as much for proving it is teachable and can go to a real world golf course.
