👉 This is a truly unfortunate example, as how an un-suspecting AND trusting customer can be swindled out of their hard-earned-$$$.! :-( 👉 The full explanation of the of the 4-photo "slide-show" above, will be "pinned" at the top of the comment section below 👈

There will be NO mentioning of the perpetrator's name, shop, location, etc., but there will certainly be web-links provided to the "proof-videos"., so as to show his "sleight of hand", rip-off maneuver, and is being done SOLELY for the sake of the general public.! PS: I am well into my retirement years, with a sufficient pension generated from my many years of being a commercial Motorola service shop, and have NO need for supplemental-income by stealing other people's customers (though I still do some work on a case-by-case basis.!) and only continue in my technical endeavors and the teaching of others, so as to both help and protect those who wish to know the Truth. *One of my biggest "pet-peeves" in life., are those folks with an attitude that's basically saying: "Hey look man, I've already got my mind made-up, so PLEASE don't confuse me with the facts".! +++++++++ Web-link to the full video, titled: UNIDEN PRO710E NO RX AUDIO FIXED ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U0g6IBuJRlY.html *Just in case attempts are made to either pull-down, delete or edit the video, I have already downloaded a hard-copy of the entire video* But for those who would rather just "cut to the chase", here's a web-link, which will auto-start as he does his "switch-a-rue" at time-stamp 26 minutes, 40 seconds (to be explained in GREAT detail below) ru-vid.comU0g6IBuJRlY?si=rsHulf_Cv0LgT_P3&t=1600 +++++++++ From 0 seconds to 17 seconds: "Welcome back to XX Xxxxx shop. A place where ya gonna learn something new all the time. And the best part is., you're gonna learn it by a professional. Cause here, we know how to use our equipment. And I'm gonna keep saying that. Until people realize., to uh., back off" ++++++++ From the beginning of the video all the way to where the radio becomes miraculously fixed at 27:12 take note that the whole time, the only thing plugged into the radio's microphone jack, is a coiled-cord coming from his proclaimed / self-designed microphone test box The schematic for that mic-box (shown above) is from a recent video of his (web-link also given near the end of this "exposure") that he supposedly drew in 1997, in which the schematic CLEARLY shows that there is absolutely no 4th wire shown (for ANY of the mic connections) which is absolutely essential for getting receive audio from virtually all Cobra, Uniden, Realistic, etc. radios, which when they do not have a properly wired microphone plugged in to it will result in absolutely NO receive audio output.! *Now let's all just wait and see how FAST he either re-wires his box correctly / re-draws OR excuses away his WRONG schematic* PS: For anyone reading this and wanting to build a simple, yet correctly wired mic-box, with a mic pass-through, an external (switched) tone input, and a PTT switch, just ask and "thou shall receive".! *We'll also then see how quickly he attempts to make a "new & improved" version of his own +++++++++ He continues: At 1 minute, 5 seconds: "Right now, what he's got written on his note here, says., tune-up for maximum performance, keep it clean, replace the meter light with a white LED. Of course, he wants to add variable power if possible" At 1 minute, 23 seconds: "So Mr. Dave., we'll see what we do for you..... .....In the meantime, there is no receive audio" At 1 minute, 50 seconds: "So we have our signal and when we adjust the volume there's nothing" ++++++++ *Notice there was NO mention (in the customer's note) of anything else being wrong with the radio. Especially something as important as the radio having NO receive audio.! *I truly feel bad for "Mr. Dave" (the owner of that radio) because as will be shown how much TOTALLY un-necessary work was performed on his radio, which had been from the beginning of the video, was a TOTALLY "staged set-up", all in order to "up-charge" the repair bill for something that was totally NOT broken :-( ++++++++ At 2 minutes, 50 seconds: Here he begins with his own lack-of-knowledge, concerning the use of his own audio tracer.! Then at 3 minutes, 0 seconds: Notice the VERY loud "hum" coming from his audio-tracer.? Well, that's simply being caused by his lack of knowledge concerning even one of the simplest pieces of test equipment, AND how there are different "grounds" contained in a most / typical CB radios, in that the ground-clip of the audio-tracer probe, MUST be connected to the "DC ground" of the radio, and NOT the metal chassis (as he clearly does so at 2 minutes 38 seconds), as virtually all CBs do NOT connect their DC-ground to the metal chassis. ++++++++ And so for the next 25 minutes., we must listen to his standard, self-centered, arrogant, pompous, pontificating monologuing., until just-like magic., he got it all "up & working" perfectly.! +++++++ So here's a few highlights pertaining to his TOTALLY unnecessary "tech-work-performed"., so he can then later charge extra $$$ to the un-suspecting AND trusting customer.! :( :( At 9 minutes, 38 seconds: He replaces a 47mf @ 16v capacitor (I found it to be C47 on the schematic) and is part of the audio "bootstrap" circuit, which would NOT stop ALL audio., only reduce it. At 14 minutes, 21 seconds: He replaces a 470 mf @ 25v capacitor (I found it to be C44 on the schematic) and is the output from the audio chip itself, which if faulty, would have then not allowed him to hear any audio, on his improperly, "hum-connected", audio-tracer probe. At 18 minutes, 2 seconds: He removes another electrolytic capacitor (and makes no mention of its mf value) BUT., between looking at its size, and where he pulled it out of circuit board, I was easily able to identify it as C66 (1000 mf @ 25v), and is the main-board, DC input filter capacitor, and if it was "shorted", would have had the radio blowing fuses, and if it was "open", would have caused a terrible "hum" coming from the speaker (but of course, only with a properly wired mic connector) Again, ALL un-necessary, "up-sale" repair items to help "pad-the-bill".! +++++++++ Now we come to the "secret-sauce" stuff., that only "champions of electronics technology" are capable of.! ;-) At 26 minutes, 50 seconds: "Alright. Well, let's see how we did" At 26 minutes, 54 seconds: "We could get lucky here" At 26 minutes, 26 seconds: "Let's take that out for a second" *This is when he removes the coiled-cord mic-connector coming from his mic-box, which even according to his own schematic diagram, does NOT have a 4th wire in order to ground the radio's speaker in such radios, and will be shown in full-color detail shortly.! At 27 minutes, o seconds: "And this one here now" *(this is where he now plugs-in a standard, correctly wired, 4 pin hand-mic)* At 27 minutes, 12 seconds: At this point, the radio now has AOK receive audio.! +++++++++++ Above this article, there's both a full-size schematic AND then a "color-coded" close-up of just the audio portion of that Uniden Pro-710E which CLEARLY shows that without pin 4 of the mic connector being grounded, there will be NO receive audio, even when using the radio's rear external speaker jack.! The green line in the schematic, shows the path for receive audio coming out of the receive audio amplifier "chip" (IC4 / TDA1905), to the audio transformer, to the CB / PA switch, to the external speaker jack, and then finally to the internal speaker positive terminal. The blue line shows the path from the speaker negative terminal, to pin number 4 of the microphone socket, which leads to the switch inside of the microphone (shown at the bottom, outlined in red) and connects pin 4 of the mic plug, to pin 1 of the mic plug (only when in receive mode)., which then finally makes a complete circuit to the ground symbol of the main board schematic. It's as simple as that. No pin-4 to pin-1 connection, equals NO receive audio.!! +++++++++++ Now for the next FULL hour, we are again subjected to his standard, self-centered, arrogant, pompous, pontificating monologue until he finally signs-off, with his very usual, self-conceited / high-minded and grandiose advertisement for his "technical AND educational services".! ++++++++++++ Also here's the web-link to the video his "mic-box" schematic above, showing how there is absolutely no 4th wire to the radio to allow the radio's speaker to be heard on such models of radios.! The video is titled CW OSCILLATOR REPAIR ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zqk3yiRy4BY.html *I've also downloaded a "hard-copy" of that video, just in case it disappears or gets edited* From 13 minutes, 50 seconds to 25 minutes, o seconds: He displays the schematic for hic "mic-box", which in the bottom-right corner displays a date of 1997 (27 years ago.??) Yea, right-on there guy, and is not even drawn anywhere NEAR what a schematic should look like (it's more similar to that of a grade-school architect class) and certainly NOT if it was done by such a highly-trained, electronics-technician as he claims to be.! Just as an example (4th photo above) there's a relatively simple schematic I had drawn for a D&A made BDX-V, which is a very rare, tube-type, mobile linear (no HV power-supply schematic available) and had to generate my own along with a few up-grade improvements and was made with a simple and totally free "shareware" program called "TinyCad". Here's a web-link to that somewhat limited program (capability-wise), but is also a VERY useful program (though has a bit of a learning-curve), for those who'd like to try their hand at it.! www.tinycad.net Regards / 73 Eric Klein Klein Communications facebook.com/radioman55 Also as KY8E www.qrz.com/db/KY8E
