I think the cut from Vi's eyes to Jinx's eyes is meant to highlight the dramatic irony of Vi lamenting her failure to chase Jinx's monsters away as Jinx is literally being transformed into a monster. I also think the look we see in Vi's eyes is her showing Caitlyn the emotions she had tried to hide when she looked down moments before. She's trusting Caitlyn enough to let her see the depths of her pain and fear about her sister. It's a great scene because it shows us the baby step of Vi trusting Caitlyn enough to share some really deep feelings about Jinx (i.e. talk, not punch), and that gives Caitlyn the insight into that relationship that she needs to have in order to spare Jinx in the finale. It progresses their relationship and character arcs AND the plot, which is what any great scene should do. I honestly don't think that trying to pull off some wink-wink coyness about an offscreen hookup was the intention of the scene. I think that would really diminish the emotional impact of Vi trusting Caitlyn with her emotions. I mean, if they had actually continued the scene and showed them work their way up to a kiss, I probably would have squeed along with everyone else, but trying to play head games with viewers about them hooking up, IMO, cheapens both the bedroom scene and the oil and water scene. I'm sure they were smart enough to know that some fans would wonder, but think any ambiguity was a side effect they could live with, not the intention.

I think relationship of Caitlyn & Vi has rather more parallels to Jinx & Silco than Jayce & Mel. Vi wants to get rid of Silco, Jinx wants to get rid of Cait, they both think that given person changed them somehow.

That would be hilarious if they recreate that but also kind of tragic ngl. I was thinking the same thing too lol, their dynamic between Jayce and Viktor reminds me of Jinx and Vi, with Caitlyn and Mel pulling them away

I have to agree with you there. It is very obvious that they were both crushing on each other. heck even when Caitlyn broke her free from Prison Vi's face when she turns to look at Caitlyn is very like timid and meanwhile Caitlyn seemed genuinely annoyed during that scene/moment. I do feel like both of them share similarities like they both joke each other in a cute way. Even the cupcake nickname having back n forth's with vi calling her that.. I mean seriously how is that not crushing on somebody lol

I agree, When Vi storms out defeated and Cait chases after her she says something like "we'll think of a new plan" which kinda doesn't make sense unless they took that time to prepare before going in front of the council

the whole point of the meeting was for them to discuss a plan with the council instead it just felt like a formality and they got additional insight into the situation from vi and caitlyn.. if they had a plan why didn't they speak up and express what the plan actually was? it felt like vi and caitlyn were the ones being interrogated mostly and until Mel said well War is a last resort we must be diplomatic and everyone agreed and vi knows that Silco wants diplomacy because it means he will be given additional power/control. She was right to confront them by saying he hates them but what i dont understand is why Caitlyn is so against the Hextech or Gemstone powers..? first of all she hardly understands the technology.. secondly its still relatively new tech like Jayce was trying to create Hextech so people can fight for Justice and even the playing field because Silco created a deadly drug that mutates and enhances the persons natural physical abilities.. Like its clearly obvious Caitlyn is missing key facts about these weapons.. if she honestly thinks the technology isnt good then how else would you fight a chemically biologically altered person? I mean as soon as Vi used her gloves it proves how easily and effective those weapons are. I think there is lots of plot missing here like it was hinted to both vi and caitlyn that they prepare a speech but instead they got interrogated then when Jayce suggested being on the offensive using his technology she was completely against the idea..? then later Vi goes to Jayce and agree's with his idea but wants to help but she also mentions how Caitlyn looked up to Jayce for a solution ? and trusted him? like i dont understand

@@chrissy93x cait was looking up for jayce from the start, but u see she started changing her mind when she visited the undercity, she "there r good ppl down there", but i hardly disagree with the fact that cait and vi made plan, because like u said, they disagreed on the spot, so they didn't really have a plan...

yeah I do agree with you. Vi was always the leader and had to be strong for others (even a motherly figure to Powder). Apart from her parents and Vander nobody protected her - and imo she didn't even rely completely on Vander- otherwise she wouldn't have had tried to give herself up in ep2 to protect her family -so after years of prison where she had to fend for herself/and others it is new to her that she is protected once in a while- and even by a supposed to be hated enforcer. She even remembers her mom (motherly care) when Catilyn is tending to her. This shows how much she craves for a caring touch in reality but is used to not voice it because she is usually the one protecting and caring for ohters. As an avoidant attachment type and from her experience with the world in general , of course Vi remains guarded at the beginning - but I think this changed heavily in ep7 when Cait offered herself up in order to free Vi even though they had an argument(!) earlier. From then on Vi trusts Caitlyn completely. About Catilyn sneaking in girls I think absolutely the same. She wouldn't have the need to do so- her mother is pretty supportive (ep8 nodding when Caitlyn went to chase after Vi). It would maybe be more like her to sneak out going hunting or visiting Jayce in his appartment (see ep2). As far as Caitlyn is presented in the show I think that she is a lonely child, too. She is never with the upper class to be seen and with her enforcer colleagues she is mocked and pretty isolated as well- doing investigations always alone. She is only ever shown with Jayce as a brotherly figure she looks up to because he can do a lot of things she would like- like going to the Undercity. Regarding the Sevika incident. I think as well that she gave up at that moment- if Caitlyn didn't come she would have died because she was excausted from the fight- Sevika caught her of guard when she said that her sister goes by the name of Jinx and is working for Silko, being like his daughter- this was a shock to Vi and immediatly guilty feelings come rushing in. So , being overwhelmed and being excausted from the fight - now with a stab wound- she has no chance against Sevika anymore and gives up for the moment. But then Caitlyn comes to save her ^^

That moment with Sevika is one of my favorite animation moments just because of how emotive Vi's eyes are. Takes my breath away every time. I agree re: Caitlyn bringing girls home. The writer's response seemed to be saying "Something, but not the something you're thinking of" to me, and her answers regarding Caitlyn are usually pretty ambiguous. I hope that's because we will get more background on her in S2, so she just doesn't want to explain things that the show will attempt to fill in next season. I do think there's room for Caitlyn to have already known she likes girls before meeting Vi, but that doesn't mean she actually has any experience with them. I agree with the other two who responded to you--she seems pretty awkward and inexperienced, not just with sex and relationships, but with people in general.

well.. technically Caitlyn caressed Vi's cheek.. I do feel like Caitlyn is the more forward one whilst Vi might be tough on the outside but does feel gentle or more reserved on the inside. Even during the brothel scenes proves that Caitlyn is more assertive. if she was more submissive she would have shown it Even when Vi pushed her against the wall she was surprised or shocked. She was never timid or nervous. But because Vi asked her preference so bluntly of course she was hesitant to explain and i did feel like that whole thing was Vi teasing but also testing her sexuality. she intentionally grabbed a guy and then moments later its confirmed she is Lesbian and her demeanour changed. Even after vi noticed that she was thinking in her mind "i knew she was Gay!" whilst being smug about it

In S1, past things was always told at the beginning of the episodes except ep9. And the bridge scene at the beginning of S1 is the scene that connects to the last scene of S1 (red screen, mother's death). If it follow this rule, the beginning of S2 might tell a past significant event in Vi or Jinx's. I believe the blank period of Vi and Cait in ep8 is one of the candidates to be told.

Sounds like a reasonably "safe" route to take. Arcane hasn't really been "safe route"-ish so far though. But I still think this is what I would write if I had the opportunity.

Personally, I don't think showing us that they kissed in flashback makes much sense. I mean, I know a lot of fans would still be happy just to see a kiss at all, but we already know that Vi bailed on Caitlyn a few hours after the scene in question, and the events of the finale seem more likely to drive a pretty hefty emotional wedge between them (even if it also brings them closer because it forces them to work together again). For me, showing us that they kissed in a flashback would rob the moment of the joy and excitement and sense of possibility it would have had if we'd seen it in real time, because I already know that they weren't ready. It would just feel like, "Oh by the way, here is a kiss that happened a while ago, to prove that things between them are romantic" as opposed to actually building up to a meaningful kiss and showing it in real time. I also think that anything significant happening between them offscreen doesn't really make sense considering the way Vi behaves in the first 30 or so seconds of the oil and water scene. She tries to stomp off without even saying goodbye, and when she does stop and talk, she's clearly not thinking about Caitlyn at all. She’s talking as if they have no personal connection, as if Caitlyn wouldn’t even care if she were to just leave, as if they’re just a couple of strangers who teamed up to take down Silco and failed. She’s not even treating Caitlyn like a friend, let alone a lover. I just don't think something as significant and tangible as a kiss would be that forgettable for Vi.

While I do think they are obviously falling in love, I don't think that Caitlyn thinking, on a conscious level, that this is what she's asking is actually that crazy. She started from a place of empathy with Vi, and she wants to help Vi and protect her because she's a walking example of why Cait became an Enforcer in the first place. I think that empathy and sense of connection is developing into something deeper, but since it's so closely nestled in with her calling as an Enforcer, maybe it's taking her a while to untangle it? The way she interacts with Vi throughout the show is actually pretty innocent of any romantic intention so far. She never quite seems like she's hiding a crush to me, and she never seems like she's actively pursuing Vi, either. She's just reacting to Vi in a caring way, helping her, protecting her, and Vi hasn't had anyone to do that for her in so long that of course she falls really hard really quickly. Caitlyn, meanwhile, may be taking a little longer to catch up, even though her feelings are obviously already going a lot deeper than "just friends." I also may be completely wrong. Maybe Caitlyn really is 100% aware of her feelings, as many seem to think. But I think "Obviously they banged" is a little TOO obvious to actually be the answer to the mystery of what we missed offscreen.

My guess is that they want us to interpret it how we see fit but same time they dont want to lose hype for season 2 if they expose everything.. They need to keep audience entertained but wanting more so to speak. You have to bare in mind that this series took 5 years before it got released to the public.. The entire whole show was built up from nothing. if things are missing.. im going to give benefit of the doubt and wait until season 2 arrives to paint a clearer Image. Its difficult to compare a realistic relationship to those inside an animation tv show. Sure elements are there but its not 100% accurate.. I believe fans might be thinking way too much on this whole speculation/theories thing.. which is normal for fandom to do this. However its better to wait till you get more information. Hopefully the series backtracks on some key details/plot points. As for relationships im 100% positive Riot will do fans a good service on Vi's and Caitlyn's relationship. If the developers seriously turned around and said "haha.. jokes on you they aren't Gay!" 90% of viewers are going to table flip and rage.. it becomes misleading and disingenuous. iv seen certain anime shows throw the 'queer bait card' a few times and basically it was to attract a larger audience but they never confirmed if the main couple were cannon or not.. given the show had massive undertones for a queer ship. I pray and hope Riot doesn't succumb to that because that would be stupid

Yes, thank you. I can't talk much about lesbian romance, but I am also confused how given what we saw, for some people it does not seem sufficient for Caitlyn asking "what about us?". I mean, it is a fairly open question and clearly they have chemistry between them. If I were Caitlyn an Vi was going all "wawa I need to leave I cant stay because I am a conflicted individual" I'd certainly bring the obvious fact up, that I like her and that I am not happy to hear what shes saying. So yes, I thought "what about us" was a perfectly apt question in response to the situation as it was 😅

I have points of agreement and points of disagreement, but I definitely agree that the idea that what we actually saw onscreen is not enough for "What about us?" is a bit simplistic. It feels like a lot of people are just making what they think is an obvious and intended assumption when it's clearly intended to be a question (given the coy responses about it, it definitely seems like they intended for people to wonder). They intentionally animated Caitlyn to be exhausted in that scene--her eyelids even flutter and droop because she's so tired. She reaches out to comfort Vi in a very calm and instinctively caring way. Vi impulsively takes Caitlyn's hand, then looks up at her in what is clearly the moment where she has fallen in love with Caitlyn in earnest because this means so much to her. We don't see if/how Caitlyn responds to this, and given her exhaustion and the fact that her touch was not animated as a come-on, I think it's presumptuous to just assume that Cait recognized Vi's look and was like "Yeah, I was trying not to fall asleep... but I'm awake now! Let's wriggle our exhausted, battered bodies around on this bed so we can kiss properly, and then I'll totally comfort bang you to help you forget about your possibly dead sister." People are making decisions for Caitlyn that we never actually see her make for herself, like just because Vi might want something (which is also not actually clear--her feelings are clear, her intentions are not), Caitlyn is automaticaly going to give it to her, despite all signs pointing to Caitlyn wanting to support Vi and then take a damn nap. On the other hand, I think the writers and animators are still using a lot of very traditional romantic coding and tropes in this relationship, including the classic "slow burn," and I think they understand that a lot of viewers, including a lot of lesbians, do want to see that first kiss between them when the time is right. For me, it's a moment that I'd like to share with them because I'm a hopeless romantic sap, but I think it's also important to not make it seem like such things are being "hidden away" offscreen. They were perfectly willing to play on the sensual tension of teasing a kiss in the "easy easy" scene, so I don't think there's anything wrong with people enjoying that and wanting to see the real thing when it happens. But yeah, I feel like a lot of viewers are really rushing the physical side of things and just assuming the writers hid kissing and sex offscreen, and I genuinely hope it's a red herring. I'm already annoyed that they seem to have intentionally made a guessing game out of what two adult women did or didn't do on a bed.

On her back there’s two keys with the first letters of the two friends/brothers M and C that died that day Powder tried to help them all, and the rest is all Jinx because she was always pretty crafty and there’s a few smoke clouds just like Jinx’s tattoo representing that sort of flare gun device that let’s out blue smoke that Vi gave to Powder in case Powder needs to reach out to her if she needed her. She ended up using it when she found out her sister was still alive and Vi recognized it instantly.

I'd also like to add that this is part of the reason we like the show. The writers make you care for the characters and they do it by keeping you invested in their story. So the fact that we are wondering about what they did or didn't do proves that they are doing a good job at that. Showing everything on screen would take the wondering away from us.

they're canon in league! they're shown in multiple official league of legends arts being close with one-another (not like friends would) and even have ingame interactions that allude to a bigger romantic relationships! Caitlyn even has a photo of Vi in her sheriff files
