Rule question: if you pair rockets zapdos with electrode from base set and use the electrode as a double rainbow energy, does rockets zapdos do only 10 damage to itself for that electrode? Bc it states „lightning energy cards“ on rockets zapdos

I'm not sure if you meant it to be read this way, but I don't think special energy cards like Rainbow Energy are a valid choice for 'Buzzap', much like Double Colorless Energy isn't a valid choice (i.e. you can't use it to effectively get 4 Colorless Energy. You're just limited to 2 of [your choice of] type at a time). Honestly, it's a little weird that it is not even clear if you can pick a basic "Colorless" as the type Electrode 'Buzzap's into with the original phrasing of the Pokémon Power. With that noted, there was a modern printed version of Base Set's Electrode released in 2023 that has its Pokémon Power phrased as: "[...] you may Knock Out this Pokémon and attach it to 1 of your other Pokémon as a Special Energy card. While this card is attached to a Pokémon, it provides every type of Energy but provides only 2 Energy at a time." That new wording makes it sound like it is counted as providing 2 Lightning Energy for attacks, but only as 1 Special Energy Card otherwise. Since Rocket's Zapdos is phrased "[...] does damage to itself equal to 10 times the number of Lightning Energy _cards_ attached to it.", I think it *DOES* only do 10 damage to itself! Now, If it were 2 Rainbow Energy in place of Electrode's Buzzap, Zapdos would do 20 damage to itself for each Rainbow Energy + 10 for each Lightning Energy attached at the time of the attack. Why's that, you may ask? REMEMBER: While in play, Rainbow Energy counts as every type of basic Energy but only provides 1 Energy at a time -- even when it doesn't help you out! That's my best interpretation of the rules. *EDIT* : I've now asked and searched around and found the same answer. Rocket's Zapdos does 10 damage to itself both for each Buzzap'd Electrode card attached AND for each Rainbow Energy attached. Electrode can provide 2 Lightning Energy for only 10 "recoil" damage while each Rainbow Energy card provides 1 Lightning Energy per 10 "recoil" damage.

Whoever is here in 2024,. know that this deck is not good in the format now. If you want a go fast Wigg deck, play Wigg/Rapidash it's the most degenerate deck in the meta.
