Prop 22 does not offer you independence like Uber and Lyft want you to believe. Prop 22 classified you as an independent contractor. But here’s the problem. As an independent contractor working for this app based economy, you cannot raise your rates when gasoline spikes up 7 dollars For a gallon of gas. You cannot change your rate because you’re insurance went up. You cannot negotiate your rate for any reason. That’s not how an independent contractor should be working. The only independence prop 22 provides is that you could turn the app on and turn the app off as you please. That right there in itself people have a hard time understanding you are not an independent contractor.

You can stop contracting with Uber, then drive down the supply, then the free market will raise the price.

@@ric615palm4 i’m 58. I’ve been doing this nine years. I really hope you know what a independent contractor is. Because that comment falls on deaf ears. Uber and Lyft got away with classifying us as independent contractors. They made you believe you’d become an employee if prop 22 failed. You are not independent. Prove it to yourself by sending me a picture that you could adjust your rate when gas prices go up.go ahead. I’ll be waiting.
@theczar6171

@@hugegoogle not true. Did you forget what prop 22 told you. How convenient. Remember, they stated you would become an employee if 22 failed. That right there, would have driven out many drivers. Raising the cost of employment to Uber and Lyft. First look up the word independent contractor to understand what a truly independent individual has the right to do and not to do. In the nine years that I’ve driven the rate keeps going down for every drive I do. Go ahead and prove to yourself. You’re an independent contractor and adjust your rate because the maintenance on your vehicle now cost more to do. Let’s see the screenshot.

The reality of being gig worker comes to realization when people decided that its not just a gig its a full time job so now they want the benefits of a normal full time job. I thought that the gig was suppose to be short term or part time work to do on the side, but I guess not.

If you want a W2 job go get one. Go apply at UPS, Walmart or any other company that has a full benefit package. There are a lot of drivers that want to remain independent contractors so we have the freedom of working when we want. That's why most people do these gig jobs. Plus, if prop 22 is overturned none of the gig companies are under any obligation to hire you as a driver.

Illegal use of the voters rights act and self representative government and Congress legislature act. Employees. This is a illegal act of monopoly by yhe state and voters etc. Also this is also a illegal use of force and law and violation of court orders in over three million cases that proves this is also a act of violence and crime and a violation of the freedom of speech etc. There can be both companies employees and independent employees contracts and temporarily workers etc and also theres also a large amount of third party companies that also use the same system and charge higher costs like local monopoly taxi cabs etc. the state is built like a monopoly so. The states will probably have civil war internally over these issues even before undo burden front. Illegal inflation on the service or goods cannot be forced and then enforced. Its probably going to cause the shutdown of apple and Microsoft and Google and Amazon and Tesla and Nvidia and Facebook and Walmart etc to avoid civil war and world war and further crimes by the city county state and criminals.

The issue is you as an independent contractor under the app based services. If you’re so independent, why can’t you negotiate your rate for what you want per mile and per minute. Stop lying to yourself , independence means independence. When gas prices went up can you adjust your rate to compensate for that two dollars you were losing per gallon. The tires that you need for your car now more can you adjust the rate to compensate for that extra money that you need to shell out. You my friend better pay attention to what a true independent contractor is. You should be able to negotiate your rate with corporate Uber corporate Lyft you should be able to submit that you will not pay more than 10% or 20% or 30%. This is a true independent contractor. So my estimate is down from 25 years in the year 2014 to now 15 years in 2024. We’ll see how close I can get. My prediction hasn’t reached the halfway point. We’re only at 10 years.
