Wowzer! I have lived here 30 years n have a ton of 50 to 60 feet tall bamboo, n never knew about propragating them. Dont know if i will, but thanks for your video...I live in Northern California. The home was Bing CROSBY'S nieces home long ago.

I recently tried to propagate by cutting a shoot down and then further cutting it into nodes and then planting those. Some of the nodes have started producing what look like little rhizomes on the side. Should they be below soil or is on/above soil level ok?
My branches on green stripe vivax* all start about 10ft high so its not easy to get to. (*- I think that's what it is. It's larger than what they say green stripe vivax should be. And it has a lot more green stripes.)
Hi mate my bamboo died i manage too get too cuttings off it they have been living in water for a few months they have massive root system what’s the best dirt too use and fertiliser?? Thanks

Great video, thanks 👍 I'm propagating my own bamboos on my acreage, I've had some success here and there, mostly with old hamii and Chinese dwarf. Once you've potted the cuttings how often and how much do you water? I live in Queensland Australia so our climate is similar to yours in Florida.
how would you find the selling price that would be competitive in your local area? whats the fastest turn around to sell plants from day of propagation to selling size? How would you know whats a good point to sell?
This season has been weird. No new shoots from my 50+ clump of green stripe vivax. My propagations from the past 2 years all sprouted shoots but they all grew too fast so theyre falling over. Is there a way to slow their growth in terms of height?
@newolde1 actually since posting this, I've discovered I can cut the new shoots at X height and they won't get taller. Their lower branches also become much fuller and essentially become a shrub type plant. The ones I've cut, I've all done at around 8ft (essentially 10-14 days from time they first sprout about ground.) I've also started to train them to grow in certain directions. They would traditionally grow and lean eastward. But on several I've planted, and some that are new shoots, I've been able to get them to twist around each other. I'm also able to get the ones closet to Mt home to grow away from my house (at night rats are all over the bamboo making it like a rat condo. Lol. So I keep them from easily accessing my house this way.)
@@carterscustomrods oh well then I stand corrected! That's great news, I must try this. I just knew that if you cut the tops of older bamboos that you would kill it and possibly introduce fungi and whatnot. Wonder if it works on all species or not. I live in Indonesia so lots of different varieties here.
