Money Tree is a common houseplant. It likes tropical climate, a lot of indirect sunlight and humidity. It is symbolically associated with good financial fortune and is commonly seen in businesses, sometimes with red ribbons or other auspicious ornamentation attached.
This video shows how to propagate them from their cuttings.

Thanks so much for having the patience to film the growth overtime. Many videos I've seen only show a snapshot of propogation. Also good to see the success and failures. Let's us see that not all cutting with be successful.

I never had flowers or plants or trees before .. then this moneytree in the store just called for me 😅 I brought it home and I find myself completely attached to her . (Or should I say them because it multiple braided together) my mother told me they were hard to keep alive and not to get to attached to it ... I have somehow just instinctively care for them .. rotate her for equal indirect sun exposure .. give her water only on Tuesday . I change them into a bigger pot , wash her leaves and mist her every day . She has grown so much and a lotttt of new branch and nods appeared in only 2 weeks .. so one day I decide to watch a video on how to grow a new moneytree. As I watch the video I look at Sarah (the money tree) and tell her .. ohh no I could never do this to you 😲 So I think im gonna stick to rescue them from the store instead 😅

I usually just root mine in a glass of water on the window ledge! Takes a few weeks, just keep changing the water once/week until you get roots then plant in the pot. Obviously this way works too but I enjoy watching the roots grow!

no idea if you're still active but i'm super new to this! would a smaller branch with 2/3 nodes work with this method? and, is the rooting powder she used necessary?
@jessicalazarus7524

@@limnpeach9640 it should work. Just make sure your cutting where the stem is still green and try to cut on an angle to increase surface area. I’ve never used rooting horomone and it’s always worked but if you have some I’m sure it would help!

I love your videos about how to grow and propagate the money tree. I'm researching about growing this tree indoors myself, as it is a good indoor plant to clean (re-oxygenate) the air in my room, and it is non-toxic to cats (so many plants are poisonous to cats, and the money tree (pachira aquatica) is not only beautiful, it's non-toxic to our feline friends!). I especially found your advice on direct and indirect lighting for this plant very useful, and will be more mindful about where I place my plant from now on. I did read and watch on other sites, that eventhough the money tree requires humidity, the soil needs to be allowed to dry out completely in between waterings. I'm unsure if procedure is different for propagation and new growth, so I'm a bit confused on the strategy to tie it with plastic bags to retain the moisture. Maybe you have a drier climate than I do. I live along the equator and have enough humidity all year round. Some have suggested to put a layer of pebbles over the soil, to help create a more humid environment, in between waterings. As this is not required for my climate, I didn't research more into that, but perhaps it would help you. These plants like a moderately humid room and deep but infrequent watering (so allowing 1-2 weeks in between waterings would be recommended). It is recommended to water the plants until the water runs from the drainage holes and then let them dry out between subsequent watering sessions. The top 2-4 inches of soil should be dry as a good indication of when the next watering should be. I also watched another video on how to test the soil to know when would be a good time to re-water the plant. I think if plants get too much or too little water than they prefer, they get moisture stress, and their leaves might start turning yellow - and they might die :( I'm still learning more about planting this plant successfully, but I hope this helps you as much as you have helped me. Thank you for your honest videos. I love them!

I’ve had the hardest time with my money tree. I’ve lost now 3 branches out of 5. I noticed one branch was mushy at the bottom, and realized I had root rot. I had went by the directions on the plant, but chain places, not to mention names, I feel set you up for failure. When I realized it. I did everything I could to save the branches that had good roots. I got the right dirt, cleaned everything...all of that. I was not over watering, but now 8 week later, I’m down to two. The crazy thing is, that it has still had nice green health leaves that are growing. The two that are left look good, but I’m not very optimistic. I guess I’m learning at least.

I had the same problem with mine early on. I followed the directions to water when the top inch or two of the soil was dry. After seeking advice on a plant Facebook group, someone suggested only watering when the soil is basically COMPLETELY dried out. That seemed crazy to me, but it made all the difference in the world! I water it maybe once every 3-4 weeks until water comes out of the bottom drainage holes. My money tree has now almost tripled in size in just a few months.

This is so helpful! I bought a poor little money tree that was on sale because it wasn’t looking too good, and of course, as we do, we try to revive the poor thing. Little did I know it was in worse condition than I thought, the whole base was squishy and most of the plant was rotting but luckily there were some stems that were still alive. I’ve cut them and now I’m propagating them in water with a splash of fertilizer and hydrogen peroxide. Wish me luck 🙏🏻 Also any tips to help with propagation during the winter?

I found this plant at a dumpster. It is obviously sick, it has root and stem rot. This particular plant is actually 3 or 4 individual plants that are flated. One of the "flated" or plant is actually alive and fighting for survival, it has small tiny offshoots at the base and the top. The other ones look dead, grayish and soft in texture. I decided to take it home to give it a chance of survival. Any tips what I should do?

If the whole root is dead, could I try to propagate it by the stem? Can roots grow directly from stem or only green small branches?
@EasyPeasyGardening
@EasyPeasyGardening 3 года назад
@@Zhiivago you should definitely try to plant it and see if it survives. If the plant doesn't have healthy roots, try to plant the stems

Is it not possible to plant the cuttings directly to the soil without dipping in rooting hormone? Will it not grow ?
@EasyPeasyGardening

It may, rooting hormone just makes it easier

You can but success rate may be lower.. some people use turmeric powder or honey instead.

I saw a previous videos of yours where you propagated in water, can I use either water or soil for any size cutting or are smaller cutting & leaves better in water where as a larger cutting will do better in soil. Thanks.
@EasyPeasyGardening
@EasyPeasyGardening 4 месяца назад
You can use either in either medium. Don't try leaves though, they develop roots but they don't grow into plants

How often do u water a 4ft plant
@EasyPeasyGardening
@EasyPeasyGardening 4 года назад
Not too often. Only when the soil dries up. Also watch your plant closely for a few weeks and slowly you will be able to judge when the leaves are droopy and you will come to know of a rhythm
