@@sandervandervliet8071 I actually play steadily with Joscho Stephan and also play gigs with Stochelo Rosenberg from time to time, they both like their rhythm players to do some more. Joscho actually doesn't like the straight playing, it lacks the swing. the straight 4s are a modern phenomenon, what you choose is a matter of taste, what you said about top players is definitely not true for every top player. warm regards Sven

The first time I heard of Django was in 1970 while a freshman in High School. I was with a friend in a Thrift Shop looking at Records and my friend held up an old 78 and said "WOW, Look at this" It was Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappellli, I had never even heard of either of them. My friend went on and on about the two of those great musicians and then told the story of how Django burned his hand and switch over completely to Guitar. It was an unbelievable story. Certainly we bought that record and went home and played it. I couldn't believe a guy could play like that with only two fingers and a thumb working on one hand. I was immediately hooked. I have tons of his work now all these years later. Lots of his work pre, during WWII, and after . What musical geniuses those two were. You young people are playing in that style and teaching it to others. Bless you for doing it. Great, this is really great... This is an awesome video. Thank you so much for posting it.

Gratulerar. Hälsningar från Jonas som flyttade till Spanien.

Sven, I just heard this for the first time, pausing at the end of your playing to let you know that I think your arrangement is nothing short of brilliant, as is your playing. I can't wait to get into the lesson as I enjoyed your lesson on Minor Swing very mush. John.

Been trying to work on the amazing percussive sound you get with your right hand. I finally understand that you are pressing into the chord with your left on the very beginning first beat and quickly releasing that pressure at the beginning of the second beat. This was a game changer for me. Thank you Sven!

Very good demonstration and explanation. The gypsy voicings and fingerings really do sound different from the big band and modern jazz guitar voicings, and even for an experienced guitarist, maneuvering smoothly among them to get a good "crunch" and clear voice leading is a lot of work!! It also becomes clear as one absorbs this instruction why this works so well as an acoustic guitar style, that rich "ring zing cushion of sound" for the lead guitar or violin. Kudos!!!
