While I see a clear communication difference, I want to point out the patient in particular. With the first scenario the patient immediately started yelling at the nurse. In the second she was asleep, and calm upon the nurses arrival. I feel seeing this example where the patients demeanor is negative to start with in both would be better.
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I'm a brand new EMT and my preceptor has noticed I'm really struggling with interpersonal patient assessment and how to talk to a patient. This helped a ton
If the medical issue is gender specific, might be best to ask patient 1st if they'd like to speak to same gender caregiver as some people won't speak to or give wrong answers to opposite gender caregiver no matter how much sensitivity training, education, or experience they have when it comes to gender specific issues. @@wendellmadfinger2358 Within reasonable limits of course, empathic care IS teh right thing to do. It increases well-being in both staff and patient, it increases immune defense, stability, hope, willpower and shortens healing-time both mentally and bodily! This has been proven in research in case you wonder.I see it must be hard for you.
I HAD TO DRINK GREEN VEGATABLE JUICE ON DOCTOR'S ORDERS & GO INTO A SWIMMING POOL TO DO EXERCISES ALL THIS TO RESTORE ME BACK TO GOOD HEALTH. DO YOU HAVE ANY VIDEOES ON PATIENTS PATIENTS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH MY SITUATION?
I'm amazed by this. I read a book with similar content, and it was truly remarkable. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
The woman in bed is right there are some nurses out there that are stingy with medication that's for very good reason because we know that the morphine supplies are starting to dwindle these days
And what what's next are we going to have to start carrying a magnifying glass to look for surgical stitching to find out if you are who or what you say you are LOL
1 main point is, don't mention other patients, others' needs and your own situation, that will only give a feeling of not being heard and met and cared for, even if it is well meant. Because it is the feelong-level that wants ands needs addressing, where the sencible, logical etc talk addresses the head, whih does no good at this point. Lter, when the emotional regulation is in plaxcew and the patient is willing to see herself, change and take in other views/ facts, taht is good. Empathy can be brief if necessary, but means the world.
A very big appreciation to Dr. IGUDIA on RU-vid for helping me get rid of my five years old type 2 Diabetes disease with his natural herbs medication. may God continue to bless your good work sir.

I hate being a patient in hospitals,as l become not. A happy camper, although l have been in catholic hospitals that did things different towards patients. NURSES NOW ARE A PAIN ,DONT TOUCH ME ,OH MY GOD THERE SHE GOES AGAIN AND FLING THEMSELVES AROUND THE PATIENT. SHOW TOO MUCH POWER TOWARDS PATIENTS. THAT IS VERY WRONG VERY WRONG.
