I think that is my problem, I am too stiff in my lower legs. Maybe it is a good idea to practice those movements at 1:48 before I start with my scythe. I do notice my lower body tends to loosen up after maybe ten minutes. I am just beginning with the Austrian style snath and blade, and my best cuts do indeed feel effortless. Scything renewed my enthusiasm for yard maintenance after decades of decline in build quality of gas lawn equipment soured my attitude. I just love this 19th century tool! 😁👍
You just solved another of my problems. When I encounter taller, thicker grass, the blade does not slice through as easily as I thought it should. I see that I need that spring energy from my hips to get the blade going with more speed and power BEFORE the edge of the blade engages the grass. The karate example was very helpful because I tool Tae Kwon Do as a teenager. I really need to get my hips involved much sooner in the swath. Thank you for posting this video.
Säd nej ytterst lite. Dock slår jag och mitt team 45 ha ängsmark årligen med lie varav stora delar av det är mycket stenigt och ibland tuvigt o knöligt på andra sätt. Har ännu inte stött på någon som skickligare tar sig fram i stenig miljö än jag. Men så har jag också haft det som yrke och passion i över 15 år. Filmen handlar dock om att lära sig grundslaget i lie. Precis som man inte gör sin första övningskörning i rusningstrafik i Stockholm är det rakt upp och ned korkat att ge sig ut bland stenar första gången man slår med lie! Eller hur?

Slowly we work on it! From now on videos that can be relevant to an international puplic will be in english or have subtitles - this video I will do in a new version to next summer as I did some more inventions regarding teaching the basic movements during last years.
