Recently, I had an issue with my Propex HS2800 Heater not working. I could hear the igniter trying to light the propane, but it would fail. This video shows how I went about repairing the Propex HS2800 Heater. I don't know if this would work on other Propex Heaters, like the HS2000, but the instructions I followed were for the Propex HS2211. The instructions clearly say they are not for the Propex HS2800 or HS2000.
Here is a link to the instructions I found on Vancafe's website

Nice work, Jason! It's really interesting to see the internals of these units. Glad its up and running again.

Just went through the same process in my HS2000. Seems like that gas inlet got clogged up but the air compressor cleared it. Working perfectly now it seems 👍

Very interesting to see the intervals. I have one of those in my camper but I think it’s a newer model and I’ve been curious how it works inside

This is very appropriate for me. I just bought that exact model in hopes of using it in the Shiftpod for winter camping.

We were talking about propane heaters and problems with the buddy heaters at winter camp, and I said I had never experienced an internal clog on mine. Guess what? I now have just that problem on my shop heater, in spite of always using a filter and the Mr, Buddy propane hose. Looks like I get the joy of repairing it very soon. Yippee.

Hi Jason as one of the other comments mentioned using a furnace filter, i would add the suggestion to allow the return air to ONLY get to the heater by passing through the filter . This would minimize the amount of dust that can cause trouble for your heater. If you can do this setup, i would try it. Have a nice day. Tom up in Canada in the Maritimes at the NB-NS border

Thanks Jason, been thinking about a propex heater for my van. They seem to be more reliable than most of the gasoline/diesel heaters that are more common. Maybe a comparison video between the propex and the vevor you have in the shop?

Van cafe is a great source for repairs, questions and buying one. They don’t make filters for either intakes so don’t run your furnace while traveling. They also recommend using about 10 psi to blow out the cabin intake air and a shop vac on the exhaust. I use a furnace filter cut to shape for the cabin cabinet intake, amazing how much dust you can kick up in a small space! Also they recommend running your furnace once or twice a month through out the year.

Used to have the Propex on my trailer and getting it to start after storage was a pain...noisy at night too if you leave it on it woke me up every time. Got rid of the trailer so no more Propex...Love the Dickinson Newport in my Kimbo...nice and quiet and no igniter to fail...no lights on it either so therefor no error lights to clear lol...

It is much quieter if you use acoustic ducting. I noticed about an 8 decibel reduction in noise.

Good job, i tried and failed to repair a Jackery 60w solar panel, i failed due to a very poor factory soldering job that ripped the surface of the board off with the mostly unsoldered + wire, junk from the start , never saw 60w out of it under perfect conditions

My original propex install failed due to a low flow rate single stage propane regulator. Same symptoms you describe. Switched to a high flow two stage regulator: Marshall Excelsior (MEGR-298) Excela-Flo Two-Stage Compact Regulator All was fine after a high flow regulator was in place.

My heating guy always uses emery cloth on the igniters/electrodes. Very lightly to clean any corrosion…

I had basically the same problem and it turned out that the heater exhaust pipe was clogged with mud.
