I loved this particular type of scout and have been using a poor roll long arm for the longest time and doing really well. The burst damage at that range throws people off and it works wonders in a team environment. Kill clip on it is just a huge bonus, while I do see pretty frequent max res guardians, the value isn't lost considering they will be incredibly one shot and out of the fight

I'm loving it with offhand strike on mnk. I don't have it with hipfire, but getting one kill while ads-ing and then having the freedom to break people's ankles for seven seconds has won me a fair few duels in trials this past weekend. Kill clip was working better in 6s but in 3s the extra duration was helping a lot.

The whole point of that origin trait is that you can whip your weapon out quickly, get a really quick shot off in hip-fire without needing to waste time by ADSing, and then aim down sights after dealing a good amount of chunk damage to get an advantage, and then be rewarded with better accuracy for it. Which it does absolutely fine, but yeah it would be good if it buffed the first 1 or maybe two hip-fire shots on a player. Especially on other archetypes that aren't 120 scouts. That way it's a bit more of a last word/DMT lite than it is now, and it still doesn't step on exotic territory. Which of course it shouldn't.

Tex balanced stock should like hip-fire rapid hit, where it's giving you some useful buffs to counter bloom, not fix the hip fire entirely or improve the hip fire at base

Hip fire grip, explosive payload, and a freehand grip mod make this thing lean into the hip fire fantasy the most for me. Actually felt pretty good IMO and enhanced hip fire will help out when it's available. Hopefully they don't nerf the explosive payload benefit to the tex trait by then.

@@SavvyMon4 as it should be. A legendary origin trait shouldn't be as good as an exotic one right? Like most are saying, you shouldn't be building into this purely for a hip-fire weapon like DMT is. It has many traits that DMT does not and those are what you should be going for. If you want a good hip-fire weapon, just craft and use a DMT.

I think we're overthinking this. Get a kill clip roll, and use it like a scout rifle. Couple it with your favorite flavor of close quarters weapon in the energy slot.

Great review as always! Tiny little thing that i didn't see you mention (as well as other content creators) is that Tex Balance Stock Origin Trait got a buff in the mid season update. It also gives +20 Range in addition to all the other benefits! I know this review is about the scout but that buff makes the sidearm Liminal Vigil get to 100 Range giving it an 18 meter drop off. REALLY loving that! Just a tiny thing i thought others should know and keep and eye out for future weapons. Keep up the great work! Glad you're healthy!

The roll I kept on my Adept drops was Keep Away and Precision Instrument, and I gotta say I was VERY surprised with it. I don't use scouts inside of PVP too often and I haven't put the thing down yet. It's at 90 range with the Adept mod and range masterwork so the Keep Away tops the range off at 100 and I use One Quiet Moment as the origin trait. I love the sights on this thing. This is a very fun weapon to use!

As much as that roll its amazing, I personally feel like keep away is a wasted perk on this weapon, the range bonus is kinda nulled by it being a scout, the reload buff is great for smooth feeling, but the perk becomes useless if your enemy is aggressive or near. Personally I like outlaw, rapid hit, or enlightened action, my personal roll gets me 82 range max with outlaw kill clip with does amazing because this scout I like to be aggressive with and chain 2 taps. If I want a long range scout, I go box breathing hung jury

@@Changingtesting I managed to snag a few of the normal Prophets with Rapid Hit and Enlightened Action rolls and I like those a lot too! The extra accuracy and stickiness with the 100 range just feels very good for me! It's a very consistent and comfortable kill at any range. The thing just doesn't miss lol. I have been pairing it with different autos in the energy slot and it's been a very enjoyable time. It's been a very forgiving and comfortable roll for me!

You're better off leaning into handling and stability vs range. This thing already has 80 meters of ads range and 40 hip at base. You're rarely ever going to need more range than that.

Another Content Creator, I think it was Cammy, mentioned that regular Hip-fire Grip helps, but the Enhanced version is what makes a noticeable difference. May want to stash the Hip-fire roll away until we can enhance the weapons in Final Shape.

Being able to strafe, transition between a hip and ADS shot, and jiggle peak is what I like a lot about these. The bounce to shooting it and sliding corners with the initial hip fire into ADS shots is pretty much how I go about weilding it. Looking forward to using my haul this upcoming iron banner.

For once, I think I'm with the vocal majority in saying that this weapon (much like the rest of the Tex Mechanica foundry weapons) are rather disappointing but mostly from a design aspect. Why not lean into that hip-fire aspect more and make it viable? The Final Shape is in just over two months and the last thing people want out of Destiny is more of the same. We need innovation out of the hundreds of weapons we have in our arsenal currently.

Love this! Agg scouts have been my baby since Long Arm last year. One thing to add. For PvE, please try one quiet moment… if you’re using this scout like you’re supposed to this comes up all the time and it’s just a free near-max reload speed.

I somehow went flawless with the path of persistence this weekend and spent all of yesterday farming adept rolls. I got every single good roll combination except the goofy one I wanted which was hip fire off hand strike. After watching this though I am so glad I kept the discord/cascade point roll. Almost deleted it.

Before the adept version was out, I got the Keep Away+Kill clip roll on the normal version. Played one game and had 28 final blows with the thing. I put it in my vault because I wanted the Adept version after that one game. Luckily I finally got the adept version of that roll and I can’t wait to get to use it this week!

This has been my favorite roll as well! Got a really nice adept one with small bore, accurized, keep away and kill clip with also explosive and a handling MW. It feels great and racked up 200 kills on it in a few matches. I’ve been advocating it’s great to all my friends. :)

120 scouts DPS feel throttled in PVE due to the frame being balanced around the first of it's kind, an exotic with 40% more damage. I'm not saying they should up the damage for this archetype in PVE, I just think the legendary ones should have way faster reload speed or reload 3 bullets in one go.

Been having a ton of success using this like a long range 120 HC in Trials this week (handling is even good enough to use it at pretty close range too). Peek/team shooting potential is crazy. I’ve also got kill clip on it and I’ve been shocked at how many 2 taps I get (you just can’t start expecting to get them, in case you run into a 10 res).

This is what I keep saying: if you want to be Chuck Connors from “The Rifleman,”, use DMT. I don’t understand why people can’t grasp with that bungie is never going to make a legendary DMT that actually behaves like DMT.. I’m genuinely shocked that the Battle Rifle exist, and that’s definitely a unique case.

Been touting the 120 scout archetype for a very long time. You play it like a long 120 handcannon. Long arm is my absolute favourite. They're versatile & you trade aim assist for effectively infinite range and high handling. Highly recommend Long Arm w/ EP if you play Blink hunter. EP lets you proc the origin around corners & is incredibly lethal My recommended playstyle is run-and-gun where you duck in & out of cover like you're playing a GM. Blink is *very* suited for this playstyle because it lets you cut distances quickly an essentially reduces the distance of every single piece of cover on the map. You can do this in PvE too and is my favourite way to play Arc hunter in PvE because IMO, Mothgrips Arcstrider is the strongest GM support class that *nobody* is playing. I honestly want to get into content creation to talk just about my philosophy on approaching endgame content because I'm tired of having to play other subclasses in LfG to try & triage a run & I think I know how to find a way to teach players better moment-to-moment decisionmaking across all types of content, PvP included because high-level knowledge of one *can* prepare you for the other.

They should have given it an interaction with dmt: if a dmt is being used by a teammate then the origin trait gets turned up to 11 for all the bonuses.

It’s a hard hitting 120 that can have 90+ handling… people sleep on that aspect too. You can hip shot for body and quick scope in for double head any resilience.

Honestly, i learned pretty quick with "keepsake" and the arc equivalent of these scouts that these arent DMT at all, just really long barreled handcannos. Discord-cascade was the only thing convinced me to try to get a prophet , GUN HO-!

I think Long Arm got pulled under the bus for the same reason as people are trying to drag Prophet. It can roll a DMT type roll as well and I'm pretty sure people were saying the same thing. People weren't seeing the other possibilities it could have.

I encountered a guy with a prophet yesterday and the only way to effectively duel him was with a 360 auto (which feels incredible right now. I’m using lodbrok c) 720 autos also feel incredible and have pre nerf smg ranges with only a slight ttk hit. I was tearing through the crucible with both of them

I went after 2 rolls the hip fire everything roll, and a precision roll. I used my arrowhead, accurized rounds, keep away, kill clip roll with a stability MW and adept range mod. It feels really good, and it will be even better with the enhanced perks in just a few months

Something I enjoy about the Prophet is that Diamond Lances to activate the weapon perk. By the mere fact this thing is a Stasis weapon, the Prophets one of those few weapons that can self-proc that perk.

I ended up with Keep Away and Explosive Payload on my first roll. Not a bad combo. Especially considering Heal Clip/Incan was my first drop on the Summoner. I'm pretty sure those two used up all my positive RNG for the rest of the year, but at least I don't need to touch any more Trials until the next weapon refresh.

Hip fire grip with explosive payload felt the best for hip firing to me. Explosive payload has alway felt like it gives more bullet magnetism to me and since it procs the tex trait in half the hits it actually makes it somewhat useable.

While unfortunate, as the two Adept Prophets i got, my best one is a keep away kill clip with mostly range boosting perks, im looking forward to trying it out. ... if it wasnt for the fact I'm so hard pressed on using adjudicator. I need to broaden my weapon usage, lol.

In short, it's a scout rifle, and it should be played... as a scout rifle. It's always been pretty clear IMO, even with the DMT. For sure from time to time hits from the hip can help you finish start a dual, but to me the "beauty" of Tex weapons is just to look/sound like a cowboy haha. Anyway, I love mine (fluted barrel, flared magwell, keep away, kill clip), got almost 700 PvP kills in 2 days of use. I also kept a outlaw + headstone (or cascade point), but I can't really see myself using this in PvE, I will try it with CP.

I’ve been running kill clip hip fire grip with duality on bakris hunter. Body shot body shot combo, and kill clip with bakris for 2 tap against any resil. But cascade point just seems nasty, gotta get a roll with it

Glad I went flawless this week. I got the Hipfire Killclip roll for it. Tasty two taps all day. Paired with my Bakris hunter, it is an absolute monster.

5 of my adept rolls had hipfire grip + offhand strike. Even my RNG is lying to me and wants me to hipfire it.

My only complaint with all of the legendary 120 scouts is that tiny sight. Dmt at least looks like an actual iron sight. The tiny red dot iron sight thing is kinda awkward for me.

I was hoping offhand strike + hip fire grip was going to be good because offhand strike is amazing on special weapons, but it seems to be nerfed on primary’s which just killed this weapon for me. Womp womp.

6:30 I think I hear you say that Osmio (Osmiomancy Gauntlets?) for Warlock would be good for Golden Tricorn, but the opposite is true. These only work with Coldsnaps and coldsnap shatters do not count as grenade kills. And similarly the Warlock melee also doesn't shatter nor do significant damage...

So not calling a "meta" build, but it is an incredibly fun 6v6 build. I have been running a hipfire grip cascade roll with a freehand mod. This gives long ranged poke if need be and sets up that close range hipfire power. To pair I have been running Vex Mythoclast with Rain of Fire. This sets almost like a Recluse playstyle where kills with Vex feed both weapons. One issue vex has is getting rushed though as it is a slower firerate now. This is where quick swapping to that cascade with radiant and hipfire feels good. The Radiant buff makes the aggressive frame 1 head 2 body 10 resil guardians so as long as you can land 1 headshot with the cascade buff, you just melt people up close with extreme forgiveness. If you REALLY wanna go hard, going for a 3x (might be 2x) stasis weapon surge with radiant or empower rift should let the weapon 2 tap to the head as well. I haven't really tried going that crazy as I dont have a Discord Cascade roll and I feel like that style of play would be better for ADS but with hipfire only needing 1 headshot I feel pretty reliable.

As an MnK Last Word user, I'll hipfire what I want but this is a sound take for everyone else. Seems cool, still not going to touch the cesspool of Trials for it though. Perfectly happy with my budget Arc version from Spire.

I could not for the life of me acquire a hip-fire grip roll. Either RNG wasn't with me when I won games to even get a weapon or I wasn't winning enough games after flawless. However, this video was helpful. Thank you for the perspective. Question: Is reload masterwork better or handling?

"Everyone thinks of this gun as a cowboy yee-haw fantasy" in the communities defense bungie LITERALLY PROMOTES IT THAT WAY. I have zero issue using this as another scout rifle, but they went through the hoops to make ANOTHER 120 scout as well as BUFFING the tex origin trait. I'm not saying make it as good as DMT but can people blame us for thinking it would at least be close? Hopefully they will add more regular weapon options from tex mechanica like an smg or something, literally anything built for close range/spray n pray

My only complaint is that both prophet and long arm have ironsights that make it hard to use for me in particular. Big ADS DMT fan and love the ironsights on it.

In short, the first hip-fire shot has like super-ultra-mega-hyper-enhanced-opening shot mk2, but then it's gone. Your first hit is a freebie, so take advantage of that but do it smartly, don't continue hipfiring. lol

I don't agree without GT on stasis, being forced to run glaciers isn't great and doing all that just to proc GTx2 on a primary scout? Just hard to justify that

I got a demo/GT roll. I think it can work well in pve if u run mothkeepers on hunter. Otherwise radiant plus GT might be a menace as well. I am not the guy to make that happen tho lol

I'm not like those people saying it was trash and as soon someone said it's good(I did say it wasn't good for PvP, i admit), then these people change their tune saying, "I've always said it was good" just to look like they were ahead of everyone. But I have always said it was great in PvE with Demo/Headstone and especially with the hipfire. This has the benefit of having the long range of a Demo/Headstone weapon like Horror Story and short range like Unending Tempest, on that front it's really good. Maybe not good enough for me to drop my Verglas or Wicked Implement from my primary slot. But for whenever I need an exotic for my Special or Heavy slot, I will use The Prophet. Everytime.

The issue is theres no exotic i would want to run in the energy slot that would require me to not run dmt. I love slugs but oh boy both duality and chaperone only having 1 ae HURTS.
