Yeah, I feel the same way. Too many credits, too many annual fees, not enough value. To me, juice is not worth the squeeze, but yeah the Venture X could be a better fit depending on the situation!

Yeah, for me, I don't even consider Amex's overseas, unless I stay in a hotel - but even then, for Marriotts, I bring the Chase RC card which is a VISA anyways. The only issue is Hilton because their credit cards are exclusively with Amex

Thanks for leaving your Data Points! Yeah, it’s nice that the Connect and Go can pool points, but sadly there’s no reason to do since they both already can redeem 1cpp base. Hopefully, one day it will be changed so they all can pool, but we’re all still waiting on that like you mentioned!

@@TheCreditFrog Soon we'll need an Amex Copper or Bronze! A couple weeks after my retention, I was able to use a $350 cruise offer, which was only 6 months after the prior $200 offer. Since these appeared on the Green Cards as well, I might have to hold my nose to some light games to stay in the loop.

Not sure if I'd transfer MRs to either Hilton or Delta since they're both kind of weak transfer partners, but if you really want to, Hilton is probably better when theres a 25% bonus so you could get a 1:2.6 transfer. When you transfer points to Delta, I think they also charge you an excise tax to do so so I would avoid that at all costs. As for the upgrade/downgrade paths, you should look at your spending and travel habits and make the decision that works best for you!

Great selection! AA is hard to get since they don't have any direct transfer partners. It helps to have their credit cards

Well the Platinum card is already a coupon book, but no, haven't heard anything about the Platinum or Green, but those cards are also on the radar. Right now, the big changes are with the Gold card.

USBAR is such a great card for dining and groceries as long as the ability to use Apple Pay is available! I agree though, the Gold card is really for those urbanites.

Yeah same I might end up canceling my Gold even though I use it a lot since i'm working out of the suburbs now.

Ryan, if you decide to cancel the Gold card, what I would do is make sure I had a no annual fee MR point earning card to hold those MR points so they don't get lost. Cards that fit this are the Amex Everyday and Amex Blue Business Plus. The BBP is the preferred card to do this. If not, yeah, I would transfer your MR points to whatever ecosystem you think you'd use. Hilton is a hard sell since it sort of devalues your MR points, and if you don't transfer it during a bonus period, you're missing out on additional points as well, which is why it's better to hold on to your MR points until then, whether it be on the Gold card itself, or on a no annual fee MR point earning card.

Well I think that’s the reason the card is so polarizing. Of course, those who dislike the cards want more relevant credits to them! If you take the view that there are more statement credits to get net positive value, then yes, I can see why this is a positive change to that individual. I am on the side of the fence where more statement credits are bad regardless of what they are because almost almost all of Amex’s lineup of annual fee cards has some type of statement credit, if not multiple, and mostly monthly. If you value the credits, then thats fine, but I can speak for myself, and I’m kind of over it tbh, regardless of the “value” the card brings. There are plenty of other alternatives that are almost as good without any of the hassle or nonsense.
