The glycerin is a natural hygroscopic compound and actually hydrates the skin by attracting water from the air and the tissues underlying the skin. I use it when experimenting making a pre shave cream. It is dirt cheap and doesn't have to be called glycerin as some come companies call it glycerol:-D
Very nice Kevy. Glycerin and AS, interesting twist and looks like it works. Love the vintage Gillette adjustables. You're right about them feeling like no blade loaded. Great video. Enjoy!
Good video Kevy. I have a 1963 Slim Adjustable and it is certainly one of my favorite razors. I especially like using it on setting 3 with a Feather blade.
Ok, just got this in. LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff!! Thank you so much!! I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone! I can’t wait to try the other scents either!
Hey Kevy, just ordered the Proraso shave cream from maggards. Yes they do have it. $ 20.00 ( USD). Great deal! I’ll definitely keep you posted on how I like it, so you can keep everybody updated! Thank you so very much for everything!
Great shave Kevy. The wood and spice has to be one my favs from Proraso. I used it with my wood handle open comb razor from West Coast Shaving and it performed excellent. I placed about a nickle size amount in between the boar hairs of my brush then sprinkled a few drops on top of the hairs. Afterwards I started bowl lathering and it was amazing how much creamy smooth lather was generated. I also felt the slickness and amazing cushioning on my face from the cream. The scent is strong but pleasant. I did get some of the wood and spicy notes in there but I also got some honey nuances from it as well. I’d like to try the other two fairly new creams as well. I’m sure they’re good. Hope your having a great day Kevy. Looking forward to more of your funny, interesting and well put together videos.
Hey Frank. Great mini review in your comment. Yes there is a sweet smell at the base of the scent, that might be the vanilla. I'm gouging to ask Santa for the other fragrances in this cream! Lol! I'd better start behaving then! Have a great week ahead mate. All the best. Kevy :)
Thanks Kevy. I’m sure Santa would oblige even though he hasn’t shaved for a long time. Lol. Always look forward to my “mail” calls. Can’t say it too loud or the Mrs might hear and might want to use my “hardware” and “software”. Have a great one brother.
I've been praising this one for months now on the shaving FB groups that Kevy reads religiously! The scent lights up my entire shaving drawer and lasts for a few hours after the shave. I bought the cologne, too. I'm disappointed that Kevy didn't spring for the 275 ml pouch and just had a sample! Sacré bleu! Take a look at the price (and there's a 10% off discount code!): www.tvbshaving.com/Proraso-Shaving-cream-Wood-and-spice-275ml.html?search=proraso A friend picked up in Italy for me before the summer. Great video Kevy, I've just bought the wood & spice and the Azur lime both fantastic CREAMS, at the time a few weeks ago I couldn't find a review from the UK or the USA there was plenty of European videos but not in English so at the time I just took a gamble and fantastic CREAMS are they, I bought them from Executive Shaving....All the best Mark.
Hi Mark. I like the sound of all the scents on these creams. They are excellent performers for sure. I plan to get the Cypress and Vetiver one from Santa! Cheers. Kevy :)

Thanks for reviewing new or recent lines of products. I had not seen anyone reviewing these new Proraso creams. I have also been looking for youtubers to review the line of products of the Shaving Shop/The Club (the Charkalis line of products). Have you thought of buying and reviewing any of them? I have ordered a couple of things from his shop but they have yet to arrive.
I've seen a few of Peter's stuff. Looks amazing. It's not easy to get the aftershaves shipped to the UK due to the alcohol content. The reviews of some of his soaps look brilliant. I've not got or tried any just yet. Cheers. Kevy :)
Thanks Kevy for doing this review, I've just received the Azur Lime cream & Balm and am thinking of buying the other two scents, depending on your reviews, can't beat Proraso for price :)
Good evening Kevy! Yeah, Russian just goes pass my understanding as well. Nice Gillette Slim Adjustable...I find settings 5 to 7 work best on my face, depending on the choice of blade. I loved the voice characters of the Scottish Kong and French Plisson. You are a man who knows his craft. What I been using to shave? Well, I sent you a few photographs so you can have a peek. My affair with the 1955 Gillette Red Tip loaded with a Wilkinson Sword blade came to a tragic end...lol. It seems the German made Wilkie gave up mid-shave and drew blood; leaving a nasty razor burn. Brilliant lather. That was a delightful shave. I find that attempting to shave with the Slim on anything less than setting 4 is useless. YMMV. Thanks for posting and shave on, Kevy.
Hi Todd. I only had a couple of days growth so didn't want to go too high. The Plisson is pining for her big Scottish cousin! Lol! Ouch, razor burn is horrible. I feel your pain. I probably should've left the razor on 5. Setting 4 was struggling on my cheek as you saw in the video. I'll know the next time. Have a good week mate. Kevy :)
I wonder if they are trying to mimic the Creed spice and wood. I've been holding off the urge to buy an adjustable eagerly anticipating the Rockwell adjustable that's been in the pipeline (if it ever gets released)
I'm not sure. I've never smelled the Creed Wood and Spice. That campaign for the new Rockwell seems to be taking forever. Hope you get it soon. Cheers. Kevy :)
Nice shave Kevy, and I hope you managed to rinse away all that lather without clogging up your drain. :) Have a look for a product called 444, I think it's Portuguese. I've seen a few people mixing it with aftershave, the same way you used the vegetable glycerine.
Is your house on the beach? I can hear seagulls sing, are they? And Riley scratching, that's a regular sound on your shave den LOL. Great shave, BTW. Loving my K1 slim at setting 6 more every day.
Ha ha Martin!! I'm not too far from the beach. Sometimes the seagulls come inland a bit looking for food. That's probably why you can hear them. Good to hear you're liking the Slim, brilliant razor. Cheers. Kevy :)
Hi Kevy, great shave! I've got the shaving cream, balm and cologne of the wood and spice and must say it's a great shave, I've asked Santa for the Azur lime and might need to pick up Cypress and Vetyver too! On a side note if you are ever selling that slim please give me a shout; I've been looking for an M3 for sometime now...I have a 1962 H1 but am looking out for am M3 cheers
Hi Stevie. It's a really good cream. I'm asking the big man for the Cypress and vetiver set. If I ever do sell it - which I doubt - I'll keep you in mind. I'd be happy to swap you for one in a similar condition. Cheers. Kevy :)
Bought the wood and spice aftershave balm blindly and honestly I smelled it and haven't used it just not my scent way to overpowering good thing it was only 8 euro
I actually bought the Stirling Kong after seeing you use it and now every time i use mine, have do my deep tough guy voice imitation while im shaving and i think it drives my Wife crazy. It is a good brush though lol
Hey kevy, love the videos!! Being a newbie at DE wet shaving, I have learned so much from you! I am wanting to treat myself to a new razor for Christmas. I’m looking to spend $50.00 - $100.00... I’m also wanting a new brush. What would you recommend? What websites would you recommend? Keep up all the great work with your videos! I always look forward to viewing them! Thanks again! CHEERS!!!
Thanks for the kind words. Well, the comment below is a good place to start looking for new shaving gear. As for the recommendation for your razor...I'm not sure what you have just now but an adjustable razor is an excellent razor to have in your den. You can make the shave as mild or as aggressive as you want it to be simply by turning the dial. 3 adjustable razors I would recommend are... The Parker Variant, The Merkur Progress and The Rockwell 6C. All well within your $50-$100 budget. There's lots of videos on here of reviews and thoughts of people using those 3 razors, but any one of them would work well for you. As for a brush, I would recommend getting a synthetic brush. They are great and are very easy to look after, they don't need to be soaked and they dry very quickly after use. Also they are super soft and great at lathering soaps and creams. Razorock do some excellent synthetics. Maggards do some really good ones too. Hope that helps. All the best. Kevy :)
Hi Kev happy new year, I'm thinking of buying this cream Vetyver & Cypress version. Here in Greece costs 7 euros the 100ml and is quite rare to find. Is it better than usual Proraso? SLickness? Cushion?
Sputnik I believe was Russia's first attempt to launch a satellite into space...before the Americans..Good shave Kevy...Kong always delivers...had mine for a year now...still same price from Sterling....you should invite a friend for a shave with all that lather left over...The after shave "not in the US". I love Aqua Velva musk...quite popular with the shaving community...cheap....and dependable...Give Riley a cuddle from us...cheers!
Thanks for the info Bill. The Kong is an amazing brush. Whips up a lather in no time. I think I might've made slightly too much lather today. This is an excellent cream. =Riley says woof and thanks for the cuddle. Cheers mate. Kevy :)

Actually watched this on the big screen television tonight. Noticed what i thought were weepers during the first pass but now I think they were scars. Ha ha.... The cream looked good. How strong was the scent? Looked amazing on the big screen.
Oh no! Kevy on the big screen will scare any pets you have Tom! Lol! My face does have a few battle scars now. All from previous shaves I might add. The Proraso cream is fantastic. The scent strength straight from the tub is about 8-9. No kidding, it's a very strong scented cream. I like it. Cheers. Kevy :)
Completely different from Proraso red Chris. Much more stronger. I think the description nails it...woodsy and spicy. A little bit of floral/herb in there too. It's a little sweet scent at the base of the scent which I think is the vanilla. I really like it but as you know someone else might not but don't let that put you off. It's a nice smelling cream and the performance is ace. Cheers. Kevy :)
Kevy's right. Wood and Spice is much stronger. Giftsandcare.com has it with a 10&% off code and these two have even better prices. I'm sure the Azur Lime and Cypress and Vetiver are great as well. I bought both the Wood & Spice cream and cologne back in May. It lights up my storage drawer: Check the prices on these sites: www.tvbshaving.com/Proraso-Shaving-cream-Wood-and-spice-275ml.html?search=proraso A friend picked up in Italy for me before the summer. I don't use cartridge razors, but I've heard of people that use brushes and soaps that do. So I wonder why you said you can't use this particular soap with a cart?
I think it's because it's so slick with the amount of coconut oil, that it will clog up a cartridge razor very easily. I'm sure you could try it, and as long as the razor was rinsed regularly, it might work. Cheers. Kevy :)
It feels good to be putting the leftover cream or soap on freshly shaved skin. Also, most of these soaps/creams have good ingredients in them which is good for your skin. Leaving it on your skin for a few minutes after a shave while you clean up the rest of your gear then rinse it off, leaves your skin feeling even better than it did. I always like to make a lot of lather to use it for this reason. I enjoy it as it leaves my skin soft and feeling great. Some people say it's a waste of lather but I enjoy it and that's all that matters to me! Lol! Cheers. Kevy :)
Then why on earth would you add another 10 chemicals and oils to your skin with a balm? The oils from the shaving soaps/creams and aftershaves are more than enough!
OMG a brush that it speaks! Have the same problem with many of my creams & soaps... pffff.. I have them in a box in my bedroom. I go to sleep... "Hey George, it's me, Cella, why you abandoned me? Hey, it's me, Proraso Red, where are you? I dried out! " Oh come on, let me sleep you dirty b@SteRds! Nice shave again Kev. The cream, great, it is difficult to find in Greece, but I hope to come soon. Hope one of the upcoming videos to be Razorock Emperor. Fantastic scent! Cheers! Bought the Nivea 2phase! Burns like hell, for only a few seconds fortunately!
I love a great alcohol burn from an aftershave! Anytime someone complains about it, I refer them to this line from a famous Paul McCartney tune: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fK5oJcn99d4.html
Ha ha! You have talking soaps and I have a talking brush! Lol! I don't have RazoRock Emperor yet. The 2 phase does sting but not for too long. Cheers. Kevy :)
I keep the pouch in its back in my shaving drawer in the file cabinet. the whole drawer smells of it. The cologne is great, too! I'd like to get the Azur Lime and Cypress and Vetiver scents, too. At first I thought you would also use the russian clone of the Gillette adjustable because of the Sputnik lol. The clone looks even better to me: shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=5892
