i initially thought water coolers are great especially on the looks department but when my friend bought one and after a few months it failed and had a leak, i changed my mind. water coolers may have a small chance of failing but that fail could ruin your whole system.

One of the cheapest cooler master AIO were leaking in pc shop during assembly I witnessed it two-three times. It was scary because the guys were professionals. 😅 Also even AIO liquid cooling is gonna get moldy with time. So in the end of the day you need to buy a new one in every 3-4 years. It depends on which you got.

Air is pretty much eternal and failure-free. Also, while it's chunky it doesn't have to look bad. In case of the Noctuas, you can just replace included fans with something like CM mf120/140 and keep the amazing performance and the RGB for little of the price increase. As for the AIO's, the high-end one is not only 2-3 times pricier than the best Air coolers (like Noctua D15) but also you have to replace it every 5 years or so, meanwhile you can still use your 9 years old D15 and it still as good as it was back in the day. Maybe fans might get loud so you gonna have to change them for ~50€ but that's it. It will still cool your 13900k as fine as it was cooling your 2600k back in the day.

positioning is important in aio coolers as it can greatly reduce it's lifespan if done incorrectly... then it becomes a matter of "when" rather than "if" it fails on you, all you would be relying at this point is build quality of the product rather than it's actual function

I was recommended to go with liquid cooling since I record my voice a lot, and the fans love to add unneeded background noise. If I get liquid cooling, is there ways I can ensure a failure doesn't happen, even if it's unlikely?

I’ve had my THERMALTAKE prebuild for a year and 3 months and my AIO failed already. Sucks . Really sucks cause I know nothing of PC repairs and damages and how to fix them and my pump just started heating way the hell up after turning it on and stuff and I took it to geek squad and they just flat out told me (bad pump). When I think it was just clogged and so they gave me a Corsair pump and radiator and now I do not know for the life of me how to sync the RGB. I was running MSI dragon for my whole rig and now that won’t work and nothing I try syncs all my 8 fans up and it’s the most depressing thing. Why even have a rig with all this RGB and I can’t even see it turn on

I just slap a 40$ ThermalRight cooler in there and my temps are never over 60 for my cpu and gpu even when playing demanding games. Sure AIOs look cool but it is MUCH more expensive and I personally don't trust having liquid constantly flowing around in my PC, AIOs fail a lot more often than air coolers and, when they do, they can cause some SERIOUS damage. Until prices drop and/or AIO reliability improves, I'm sticking with Air Coolers.

@@Alex-tu5vu looks really? @@VR00100 Well, an AIO doesn't necessarily have to come with RGB (look at the arctic liquid freezer II for example). Though I personally do prefer RGB (Firm believer in the RGBible). The biggest issue with huge air coolers for me personally isn't the size narrowing your case / motherboard choices down, it's the fact that they cover my beautiful expensive RAM sticks, if I went with an air cooler I wouldn't have had to spend the money on that RAM and I'd have just gotten some kind of green PCB ram with the same speeds.
