A good honest review. The food quality is enough to put me off ever doing an MSC cruise. Can you imagine eating that for 10 days??? I am doing a Virgin Cruise to Iceland in July 25 so have been looking at all of your vids. Cheers guys.
Thank you! And thank you so much for watching our videos. We can only assume on MSC they’re basically forcing you to pay for the premium restaurants, or to pay to go Yacht Club 🤷🏻♂️, but you’re right 10 days of that buffet food 🫣
Thanks for this it was really interesting to watch and sorry that your experience wasn't as great as it could have been. We went on a two week cruise on MSC Virtuosa a couple of months ago and enjoyed it so much that we have booked another two cruises with them. We were lucky enough to have contact with the guy cleaning our room on the first day and I have to say our experience in terms of the cleanliness of the room was a lot different to yours, although I agree that your situation wasn't dealt with very well. The food menu in the main dining restaurant does change every day wity around 7 choices of meals each day and the vast majority of the time we found it to be of a high qualty perhaps with a couple of exceptions and our waiter was very attentive. I think one thing that is great on MSC that sets them apart from other cruise lines is the entertainment and the staff. On a longer cruise they have some amazing shows a number of which I actually found better than the west end. The events and entertainment staff are also great and we got to know many of them really well by the end of our cruise. There was so much to do on board and we were never bored. They also have some great themed paties on longer cruises and the ship does cater for those who like to stay up late with the night club open until the early hours. We found this great for socialising and meeting other crew members. I really hope that your two day experience hasn't totally put you off MSC and hope to come across you both on a future cruise either with MSC or another cruise line. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your experience too, we might look in to a longer cruise as it does seem to have a difference from what we’ve read :)
I love this channel! You guys have great personalities and taste that I find relatable. Looking forward to more content. If I can submit video requests: 1. Tips for new cruisers, 2. Making friendly connections on board, 3. Planning the perfect day of romance on board, 4. Are the cruise rumors true- swingers, weight gain, seasickness, safety concerns for solo cruisers, etc…. Thanks for sharing! xo
That’s lovely of you to say, thank you :) And thanks for the suggestions too - we’ve thought of doing some of the ones you’ve suggested so keep your eyes peeled :)
We are so close to booking either the Virtuosa for July next year. The fact its way cheaper than other lines means We'd have the budget to try the speciality restaurants a few nights, & the drinks package is great value. What I like about it & your video shown this is its so alive, just looks fun especially at night. I do have a question about what were general waiting times like for a drink at the bars, especially during the peak evening time after 9pm. Good Videos BTW watched & enjoyed all 3 parts!!!
Glad you enjoyed the videos! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. The wait times weren’t completely horrendous, but it wasn’t fast. We waited probably 10 minutes once in the pub (Masters of the seas), and similar in the bar just off the promenade. But it was a busy sailing. We found we mainly drank in the champagne bar, where you get table service for drinks so waiting times weren’t an issue there.
I think you should book the Virgin Cruise for Rome to Barcelona from October 7, 2025, to October 16, 2025 on Scarlet Lady. We have a Mega Rockstar Fab Suite booked, and will gladly let you do a review of the room. And, selfishly, I and my husband would love to meet you guys and enjoy a few GnT"s.
We would love to, but will need to see what happens with Marks job search first before we look at something like that. Never say never though! Thanks for watching and maybe see you onboard one day :)
Hi Mark & David, I’ve sailed three times with MSC, all on Virtuosa but in the Yacht Club. Whilst similar menus the food is good quality and the Yacht Club area is more private and relaxed. Would be worth you watching a few videos perhaps to see if it would tempt you. You’d never queue because the Butlers escort to the front of the queues etc. I’m really keen to try a Virgin Voyage cruise. Hope to meet you both on a cruise soon!
Hi Gary! Thank you so much for the message, we will defo be having a look into Yacht club (we’ve heard it’s a step up from a number of people now). We hope to see you on a Virgin Voyage soon! Thanks for watching 😊
We have done a 2 day and 7 day on MSC. Agree wont be doing a 2 day again and also wouldnt recommend it as a taster. We got chatting to a lovely 70yr old lady and the 2 day cruise was sold to her as a taster and i think she was in shock ! If you want to try a 2 day cruise, then you really need a party mind set and appreciate it will be rammed with bars closed at odd times .. But, the price you pay for MSC including drinks is something to bear in mind. We are off on MSC World Europa in January for a week around the Med, (inc flights ro Barcelona) for half the price of a 5 day cruise with Virgin in September just going to Amsterdam and Zeebrugge, without the all inclusive element (bar tab on Virgin not as good..). Have Ambassador booked and want to try Princess next year too. All have pros and cons, but as long as you do your research first , can avoid surprises/ accept what may happen .(although Virgin may throw some surprises!!). Cheers
Fab points, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. One thing we’d say about the Virgin Pricing (…. although, it has jumped quite a bit lately 😬!!) - on the face of it, it might seem a jump in price compared to MSC, but the fare includes all restaurants (that are the equivalent of speciality dining), and all ice cream, snacks, soft drinks, basic tea and coffee etc. So once you’ve factored that into another cruise line fares that charges for these on board, the pricing gets pretty close. Granted - you could just not do those charged for things. But you get the point. As you said, the great thing about cruising is that there’s a cruise line for everyone 🥰.
We want to get showered in.... Confetti! 🎊 Embarking at Southampton is great, so smooth and simple! We think that MSC's drink package is definitely one of the best out there! Great review guys, we felt it was very balanced, considering you only spent two nights onboard (a point which you openly acknowledge). We haven't done a Virgin cruise, but from what we've seen alone, can imagine it would feel like a much more premium experience than MSC! We've cruised 5 times with them now, and have enjoyed our cruises with them - but can completely understand others people's issues with them!
Everyone deserves to be covered in the stuff!! 😂 Thank you so much for watching, we’re so glad that it came across as balanced (I was worried people might take it the wrong way). We would defo recommend a Virgin Voyage, they may seem pricey but the fare includes so much of the things that are up-charges on MSC (hence that being a bit jarring for us).
@@TheDoddolds My first Yacht Club cruise is in 4 weeks time on the MSC Virtuosa, can't wait. This will be cruise 4 on this ship. The only cruise on this ship I didn't love was a 2 night one. I recommend you guy give MSC a real chance on a longer cruise. Keep up the good work, your video's are detailed and honest and I really appreciate that.
