About
🌎 Denton, Texas is a city located in Denton County. The city was founded in 1857 and named after John B. Denton, a pioneer lawyer and soldier who fought in the Texas Revolution. Denton quickly became an important stop on the Chisholm Trail, and the city's population grew rapidly as new residents arrived seeking opportunities in the cattle industry. In the late 19th century, Denton began to develop into a major educational center, with the establishment of several colleges and universities such as University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University. And the city is home to a diverse population of nearly 140,000 people as of 2020, making it one of the largest cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

I would mountain bike all around town and Loved using the train 🚆 to trinity mills then to Dallas and fort worth which gives the whole traffic thing no head ache. Would just make sure my jobs I had where in Denton or near the train line. And with mountain bike boy was it an adventure and healthy on the long run. In El Paso TX now but missing the Green will be back by next year continuing the mountain biking and train adventure. Great video 👍

Nice vid. I can tell by your traffic assessment that you have lived in Denton. 380 is insane right now. I live on 377 and it's also going to be nuts later this year when they make it ONE lane (for both directions) to expand (it's one lane each way now). To add on to your last point about Denton being 'isolated'. It's also 'developed' in that Denton already has an identity. It is actually older and was bigger than Dallas originally. It is the largest 'northern' city above DFW and has a strong liberal and entrenched govt. Dallas now that it's north of Plano/Frisco is just a free for all for development. All the way up past Celina to Sherman eventually. Tbh all the development looks the same and will provide the same experience of DR Horton / MI Homes fabricated houses and access to Walmarts, Home Depots, HEBs etc, as that side of the city demands and expects it. There's nothing stopping that type of development. On the other hand, north of Fort Worth and Flower Mound is Argyle, which was always occupied by rich oil, businessmen, and even Dallas Cowboys. They have established acreages and aren't giving them up. Argyle's motto is "Keep it Rural". This plus the natural floodplain west of Lake Lewisville (north of Argyle and South of Denton) is a natural moat against insane development. As a result, developers have turned to Northlake (west of Argyle). There, Hillwood is developing Pecan, Harvest, and two massive developments that will connect west Denton/Northlake all the way down to Fort Worth / Alliance. If you want to avoid insane development, south Denton along I35E by Corinth is a great area to get all the suburb amenties while avoiding the crazy development affecting north Dallas. Also Northlake is going nuts with property taxes and traffic as there are all sorts of 'special water taxes' since developers are buliding houses where there is no water infrastructure - which means they must pay cities like Argyle and Denton to extend water out. This cost is passed onto the homeowner.

I am a BIG advocate for Denton as I used to work in healthcare there for 4+ years. But outside of that, I would look at cities like: Frisco, Irving, Plano, Carrollton if you're looking for suburbs (aka: not Dallas itself)
