I lived in los angeles for two years. And I must agree the traffic it's horrible. It's hot Most of the time. But what I love most about los angeles. Are the people, they're always Happy and kind. Miss living in L.A.
Sad metalhead I recently went to LA twice and both times ppl were extremely nice and funny coming from the Midwest where ppl don’t talk much and are pretty mean
Its Toriii lol that comment was before I went back to LA but I did go to LA again rude people, really mean drivers I come from Texas were everyone is friendly at least most of us
Cons: traffic, rent Pros: beaches, buildings, not rainy like oregon or washington, malls, stores, weather, west coast, disney land, gta v, boardwalk, san fran, universal stuidos, food, jobs, acting, high class and low class, famous people
@@davidmoore5004 Basically, the more you work, the better you become and more exposure to clients you get, which makes you get even more work at better rates. I hope ive explained it well
L.A. native here, best thing about L.A. is there is SO MUCH CULTURE and no matter what you are into or what you look like or where you are from you will find what you need here. It is so much more than the Hollywood/entertainment place. Diversity, food, tech, automotive, health/fitness, did I say food?, surf beach, hiking, sports. It's close to the Caribbean and central America. Don't let the cost of living discourage you but he's right about the entertainment field it is competitive and I meet so many people at my church who come here for one thing and end up finding a completely different more fulfilling calling in something totally unexpected. No place like southern California (dude). 😎
DTA I’m not reading all that lol 40,000,000 people must agree with me because it’s hands down the most popular state. Yes people move away but more people are moving here daily.
i am from slovakia , Livin in Austria and the life here is boring . L.A is my dream city and i want to move here no matters the cons , thank you for the video man !
Are you in Vienna? It's supposedly one of the best cities in the world to live in. Obviously not a lot of cool stuff coming out of there or Austria but you also have to factor in how large LA is and how many people live there. For every celebrity or famous RU-vidr, there are likely thousands more struggling, barely being able to afford to live, aspiring to also make a living from those things. It also attracts a lot of rich kids who can live a lavish lifestyle despite not having a job. Of course people like to see how rich and cool people live, so they may get popular on RU-vid and social media, but an average person can't live a life like that and attract followers. Also, in cities where less is happening, it is easier to stand out locally. You likely have a better chance taking off in Vienna as a RU-vidr or musician than in LA where there are far more people to compete with.
Los Angeles is great to visit but the cost of living is terrible. The house I own would cost 800k in Los Angeles. The people are diverse with food and culture. Also the taxes are horrendous to include some of the laws.
Coming from someone who has lived here his entire life, the biggest con he didn't mention is -- the traffic. No matter the day or time, except like midnight to 4am or so, the traffic is always bad. Although its not the greatest city, I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live than here in L.A.
@@josecastillo7700 yeah i'm from boston and legit boston has pretty similar traffic as Los angeles i spent a summer in los angeles and the traffic complaint is exaggerated since all big and popular cities have crazy traffic.
I've been to L.A four times and I would have to disagree. The public transportation isn't that bad in L.A. A car can be a real money guzzler,so it's good to have alternatives to owning a vehicle. Especially since traffic is so bad in L.A
if you live near the metro line and your work is straight line. Traffic is horrible. Even on a motorcycle and transportation is a 4th world not third!!!
Living in long beach, ride to dtla daily for work. Get. A. Motorcycle. Cars are a waste of time and money in California. If you domt know how to ride you better learn
PLEASE READ : not everybody wants to go to LA to be a starving artist ( musician or actor.) You can have plenty of stable, technical jobs in the industry and make a pretty decent living at it. I was born and raised in LA, majored in Film/TV. I'm a proud AV technician. For fun, I also work security for on- location shoots that pay plenty of $ and we get plenty of hrs.
I’m Italian and I live in Italy, I’ve always wanted to go to La and last year I did, it was an amazing experience, I wish one day I’ll be able to move to La!
As much as i would like to move out here, I feel like it would be impossible if I was livin with myself, just because of money but since me and my friends are ending high school soon and getting ready to go to college, we are all thinking of getting an apartment and staying in LA. Which if you think about it, that would be pretty cheap. But at the same time, it’s nice to have alone time without your friends always around you
I think if you live somewhere in Arkansas or Alabama and then you move to LA then yes, I guess it would feel expensive but if you live in London and move to LA then you will be just fine and prices will feel reasonably cheap in LA compare to London
In Ontario, Canada-it sounds about the same (minus the weather)...for a 1 bedroom/bachelor apartment, you'd pay 1600-2100$/month (with 1st and last months rent up front)-and that is for a regular, run of the mill place that isn't worth the price...if you'd pay 2100-3000$, you'd get a much nicer place, but who can afford that? There are tonnes of homeless people, drugs etc here as well, so it makes me think this is not just in Cali, it's everywhere! Also, it is very competitive here finding a job too, but the difference is these jobs are usually regular joe jobs (restaurant, office, construction etc.), in no way are there any opportunities in such creative fields as Calif offers...So really when you think about it, it may not be too bad for some people; its just the way the world is now.
I’m originally from Tennessee, I moved to La in late December 2017. I go to a high school and it’s my senior year here. The only pros LA have is it’s beaches, foods, and scenery. Yes minimum wage here is nice compared to the south, starting from 10$ but with that wage come higher prices. Like when I first got here my mom was paying 2000$+ for a 2 bedroom apartment.Theres lots of homeless people also and the air is wack, AND PEOPLE IN LA CANNOT DRIVE. I’ve almost lost my life twice by some idiot while trying to cross the street. Now let’s talk Highschool, Most schools in the east are what I like to call “inside schools” I call them that because for most of the school day you are inside the school. And the schools out here are outside schools, NO I don’t mean you go out with your class and sit on the grass and read and do work. I’m mean that when it’s lunch you are out side and you can pretty much eat where you want ( CLEVELAND HIGHSCHOOL) and during breaks you are outside chilling with friends. My hobbies out here now is playing my ps4, chilling at the mall w friends on fridays and Saturday’s, also going to party’s. That’s pretty much, all I can say is, I miss my home, I miss my friends, La suck BALLS, me and my family are moving back when I graduate and yeah that’s it.
@@Cam-pt9ex rude and pompous ass ppl is just the beginning. When I was visiting there I had to flip off a bitch who acted snotty towards me at the Union Station when I was headed back to my cousin's place in Palmdale; all I did was try to get her attention to compliment her since she look real good, but she acted as if I was somehow irritating her, so the next best thing to do was to flip her off, cuss her out and keep it moving. She'll remember that shit for the rest of her life.
Rama Crime is heavily centered in ghettos, and between gangs. Most people watching this video will not move to a ghetto or join a gang. If you were to take out the ghettos and gang-on-gang violence, then the crime rate wouldn't look very bad at all. This is the same for basically all major U.S. cities. Just don't go to drug and gang infested ghettos with your expensive car at night by yourself, and hang out with the right people and you will be fine.
@Umaru Chan Irvine is actually one of the safest places in the United States. It is also a university town and many rich people live there. Irvine is not LA county, it's in Orange County, which is generally safe, except maybe some parts of Anaheim and Santa Ana.
I want to move to Los Angeles but it's not to be in movies or anything. I want to get in radio and media but I mostly want to me there because of the weather and better job opportunity. I live in Detroit been here all my life and hate the winter, don't like the cold at all and it last forever. The only good jobs your going to find without a college degree is working in car factory making, building cars for like Ford,GM, and Cyrsler. It's not easy getting into those jobs because you have to know someone that know someone that work there. And I don't want to be building cars for the rest of my, that's hard labor and you still don't get paid that much. Detroit not cheap either you want a good apartment you paiding between 650 to 800. Downtown you paiding 800 between 1000. Unless you live in the hood, but those apartments can be expensive but not worth it because people don't take care of the buildings. And finding low income apartments our hard because people moving in them and don't never moved out. Not much to do here, you mostly got to go way up to do things or go downtown, they don't have no malls in Detroit or even a Walmart. You got to go way out for those things. So I know if I can make here in Detroit I can make it out there, I'm determine to make it out there because I know I don't want to live in Detroit for the rest of my life. Great advice. I got a car, but I the cost of living is going to be the biggest issue for me living in Los Angeles but I think is going to be worth for me because of the weather, the many things you do out there, hopefully better job opportunity meeting new people and because I never left Detroit. I want to move out there by next year and the plus I have family that lives out there. I just got to meet them😂. But anybody that reads this. Please wish me luck.😀
Hi Livia, Detroit sounds really afforable compared to LA. LA is more expensive, but the quality of life is much better. You'll get paid more so hopefully that will make things easier. Good luck on your move, I hope you succeed!
U can do it. I’m from Detroit Born and Raised been in LA for 10 yrs to support my daughter’s acting career. Let’s just say she did very well. It can happen just go for it. Best wishes
Livia G / go for it follow your dream, I can totally understand with being somewhere your whole life and wanting to move to a different state n city. I did it 16 years ago when I left my hometown of Houston to LA, it was one of the best decisions of my life and LA is like none other in the United States. LA is a lot of fun and interesting but just know that it is very expensive and if you don’t have family or close friends there it can also get very lonely at times. In a city so large with millions of people you would think it’s easy to randomly make friends or hook up with someone but that’s not always the case in LA .... Best of luck out there ...
I've been to L.A for 5 days only as a vacation (Irvine) and I gotta say it's very beautiful the vibe is perfect I wish i could get to live there I wanna go back so bad
I wanted to thank you for this video, I am moving to LA. in May, and I actually would like to make myself available to be interviewed by vloggers the 1st week that I am there as I will be working in the reiki business and am also nonverbal...Though, I communicate with my mini laptop, cell phone, and through other means. If you are interested or know someone who would be interested in knowing more about reiki, or just want to interview a nonverbal person, or you are interested in interviewing someone who is K(h)emetic, or who can break down what a dimension is. Just let me know. Cheers and ankh, udja, seneb.
absolutely true about the car - on a daily basis it is a must. The public transit is poor at best. If you are tourist maybe you can get around to some major tourist attractions but ultimately LA is too spread out
this applies specifically to the west side of la, not the city as a whole, which is large and diverse. alot of the pros and cons change if you look at the valley, east la, south central, or down near san pedro
I'm a child but I am dreaming of living in LA (I live in England). My dad is the overprotective one but he wouldn't mind me going to LA, but my mum 😂. I would love to live in LA because it is incredible! When I went to America 3 years ago I immediately wanted to live here. Thanks for the vid ❤️❤️
Well Los Angeles is one of the popular cities on the west coast. It has a big name in TV,film, entertainment. It has warm temperatures, nice beaches, mountains, forests, piers, deserts. Yosemite national park to Redwood national park.another good thing about California is it has a lot of well-known film,TV,and entertainment studios like Warner Bros, New Line Cinemas, and Universal Studios.Nice theme parks and amusement parks Disneyland, Six Flags, California's Great America, Knott's,Sea World, Adventure City,Santa Cruz boardwalk amusement park, Pacific Pier.Upscale shopping :The Grove, Rodeo Drive.California is a huge state because it has a lot of geographical features, attractions, and other things to do.You can take a weekend getaway to Vegas, Mexico, or Arizona.
I live in Oregon and I'm moving to California. I'm moving to La. I'm only afraid of 2 things there. The heat and the earthquakes. I'm not used to a lot of heat because I live in Oregon where it rains every 1-4 weeks. I took a road trip there and it was really warm but I liked adventuring around everywhere. But I hope it fun there
Vmin Is Life i’ve been here for 4yrs and have experienced three earthquakes, neither of them lasted longer than 6 seconds. Most of the buildings are retrofitted to withstand severe earthquakes so there really isn’t much of a concern there
I am from another country that does not speak english, and I would love to move to LA, becouse it's such a beautiful city, but it's hard to get there...pretty hard...so I have all my hopes up that i can find a job there and be happy :)
Its summer all year round. I lived there 20 years now I am in seattle since 2011 and I have noticed a lot of Californians are moving to seattle. The traffic here is becoming worse too cause of people moving from ca and other states. We also have the great homeless population here too.
Also you may get a project but it films in Palmade or Louisiana for 8 months. You have to think about success as well. You can't be like oh I work at this job. You go. It is very selfish living like but that is reality.
Thanks. I spent a lot of time there as a kid because my grandparents lived there. I love the spirit of "making something happen" but high rent and always car is maybe too stressful for me.
I really want to move to LA, I live in the UK and it's rlly boring here and I would like to see more stuff like new food, skyscrapers, busier traffic, the accent and the nice cars and the weather
I went in 1995 and it was a hell hole. I was threatened with a knife in a liquor store because I was in the wrong neighbourhood ( the look on the owners face when we walked in was ‘wtf are you two doing here’?) . The city itself (not the canyons obviously) was as flat as your hand, crawling with cars, soulless and ugly. We moved on to Santa Barbara which was absolutely beautiful and up the coast to San Francisco was beyond gorgeous (though 20 plus years later I know prices there have rocketed and they have a terrible homeless problem). In short LA was the biggest letdown of any place I have ever been
Very nice video!...I'm from LA and also the traffic here is terrible!...the 405 has like the worst traffic in the country!...Also I'm Mexican-American and there's ALOT of us Mexicans here!...and I mean ALOT Yeah!...We have the best Mexican food here, mmmmm, outside of Mexico.
good video I've been thinking about LA for a very long time.Just don't know how or who to go with I'm thankful I have relatives out there.I just got to figure how to get out there.
here in my country it is really fun to be in here but L.A has been my dream city since I was 10. I always search it on google maps, view pictures of beautiful houses, beaches and such in L.A, I kid you not, in every prayers of mine, I'd make sure that visiting L.A soon is included. I don't really know why, maybe because famous youtubers and singers lives in there and I've been dying to see them. But I'm afraid of judgment because everybody told me that people in L.A are judgmental.
I live in 102°F/39°C everyday so when he says its warm and I checked the temperature is highest 84.2°F/29°C I'm thinking wow that's the perfect temperature
I just moved to Burbank a little over a year ago! I love it here, but I'm just working my butt off at a day job. You mentioned networking, and I was wondering if you have tips on that. I'm just getting into photography and videography, so right now, meeting some creative, positive people and practicing my passion is all I need!
That's awesome man. I hope LA has been treating you well...I'd say you should look up events that are happening in the North Hollywood arts district as well as the downtown LA arts district and try to attend those events. I'd bring your camera and some business cards and use that as a conversation starter with people you meet.
@@FreshPepper thanks brother. I am a unionized actor living in Toronto been thinking of moving to LA as all the main casting is done in LA. I am just tired of being a day player. You nailed it actually in your video
I am studying for being a movie makeup artist and I would LOOOVE to move out to LA (I live in Spain) but I am really scared bc LA life is really expensive as you said and starting my career I don't have any job guaranteed before moving there
D.Break_7 if you can survive the first two months, then you’ll be fine. LA is a place for people who like to network. If you come out here, you’ll find work within a couple of weeks if you know how to network
I agree with the above comment! I moved to LA with enough money for 3 months and a short term 3 month rental. I got a job within 6 weeks and have been here for 2 years since! It's easy to get a job in LA to be honest, even if its just a short term job whilst you're finding your feet. Just make sure you save enough money to fall back on for 2/3 month because employees in LA will drop you as quick as they hire you. Sometimes in life you've just got to take a chance.
I would love to live there. I'm a stand up comedian from Italy, show business here is not like in LA. It's really hard for people like me, mostly because italians don't even know what stand up comedy is and that makes me so mad about my country. We don't even have house of cards on Netflix, how is that possible?
I’m honestly thinking of moving to LA when I graduate high school because I want to get into something business wise there that would make me some good money
There are so many pros but the biggest con is some parts it’s super dirty and we have a big homeless problem here and also the smog if u come here New the smog u would notice ima kinda used to it now
Sharing a place or room is the way to go here, I know many international students who just graduated and are staying for an extra year working and they all share rent.
Thumbs up! Really precise tips, thanks! I am from Brazil and I was researching cities in USA to move. I like the idea of LA but I am worried about the car thing. I did not expect that public transportation would be bad there . What is wrong with it? Doesnt have much of it? I dont think is accessible to have a car for someone out of the country ;(
Ka frames LA's public transit is actually getting better. The newest rail lines from downtown LA to Santa Monica Beach is very popular so is the Redline subway. Many ppl learn to navigate the city without a car.
Trânsito pior que o de São Paulo não deve ser. Aqui no Rio o trânsito é a pior coisa! Então se for igual já tô acostumada hahaha Meu sonho é morar em L.A também
Tbh I would think living in LA without a car would be easy... Like there's hardly any parking out here, and you're most likely to get tickets easily, traffic is horrible. Yeah I think having a car is a struggle. Unless you have parking spot at your place and have a spot to every destination you visit. Public transportation is fun if you like meeting new people or feeling the vibes of this City
Alright, I'm late seeing this video, but THANK YOU for doing a PROS and cons of LA. The only thing out there are videos of people either bitching about LA or giving the reasons not to move to LA. I guess that's telling, but, still, it's not realistic and nowhere near the whole picture to just get the complaints. And, a lot of the complaints I've seen are either non-issues for me or the costs they complain about are on par or very close to what I pay in a relatively small city in Texas.
It depends on where you live. As a filmmaker you probably want to be in Burbank, Studio City, Culver City or West Hollywood. 1 bedrooms in those areas usually rent for $1400+
I frequent So-Cal alot have family there im from Texas and its beautiful in the nice areas and really bad in the bad areas overall a great place to visit for me because for me there's no other place like Texas and my biggest gripe is that it's expensive as hell there nah I'm good
oh goodness Im so jealous lol. I'm not a celeb stalker but I think it be really cool to see just ONE. Ive never seen ONE. I live in Pittsburgh Pa 😞. Is it true that they hate to be bothered.
Hello I have a groupchat of people 12 to 19 who want to model act etc and we all want to be to Los Angeles because it’s one of the best ways to make our dreams become a reality and are maybe going to be roommates in the future because it’s the cheapest way to live in Los Angeles when we move there if you do you want to join❤️❤️my Instagram is dreamycatt2 it would be lovely to hear from you 💞
Do not come here! We have enough people and the quality of life here sucks. I was born here so I know. You will never be able to get to any place on time, so what is the advantage of having all the things to do and see? Jobs and scarce because the large employers are moving out of her to get cheaper labor and cheaper business costs. The air pollution is very bad here, so if you are an active person, you will feel out of condition forever. Housing is way out of reach for most people and the rents are stupidly expensive. Out weather may be better than most parts of the country in the winter, but out summers have been come hot and humid! I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. As soon as I can, I will be moving to a smaller, cleaner state such as Idaho, Utah, Georgia, North Caroliina.
Hey, I've spent a good amount of time in NY as well. LA is cheaper than NY, but not by much. The apartments here are definitely bigger, there's a lot more opportunities for actors, and great networking opportunities for anyone in the entertainment industry in general. The biggest difference for me is the lack of public transportation. In NYC, the subway is probably the best and fastest way to move around, but in LA, you pretty much need to drive or take an uber. Taking the bus or subway in LA is a slow painful process, you have to take two buses, walk, and maybe even a short uber just to get to your destination. Finally, you have to plan your day carefully out here since most of it could be spent being stuck in traffic. It takes an average of 30mins to get from one place to another and maybe 4x longer in rush hour traffic. Hope this helps
Ranjnish Sharma maybe a restaurant but make sure you find a good location and spend good on advertisement or a car dealership is fairly easy to start but you a good amount of capitol and you need to advertise your business as well. I'm a stock day trader and I work from my home.
***Attention! To everyone reading this comment that doesn't already live in LA. I think I speak for all angelenos by saying we will be fine with you visiting but please, DONT MOVE HERE!
