Just found this channel yesterday, THANK YOU! My husband and I are looking for a gem to call home in the next year or two, VA is on the top of our list. We are both Veterans and love what you (Jennifer and Amy) have provided through your videos. This has really helped lower my panic and anxiety level, plus get more excited about VA 🤗
I'm SO happy to hear our videos have been helpful, thanks for your comment too! You will LOVE it here, many of our military say they end up loving this area more than they initially thought they would. Would love to stay in touch, send me an email at sjennifer@remax.net so we can connect further! It's never too early to begin those connections, we often start relationships with our clients a year or more out!
I'd love for you to do a video on retiring in the area. I know the area pretty well and fell in love with it when I was stationed there in the early 80's and still visite pretty regularly. I retire in 2025 and have been considering relocating. Maybe do a rental for a couple of months to check it out first?
Thanks Edward! Great suggestion that I will look into for sure. Reach out anytime and we can discuss some 55 and up communities if you're considering something like that for retirement, as well as some communities with golf courses. You could potentially do a short term rental to give you more time to look around for somewhere to relocate. You've got some time with retirement coming in 2025, but starting to plan now is excellent! Shoot me an email at sjennifer@remax.net and we can connect to discuss more.
Edward two videos are up now thanks to YOUR recommendation! Hope you've seen them, would love for you to reach out and discuss more in depth of how we can assist you with your potential move in a few years!
The city of Virginia Beach have some really friendly, honest people living in this city. The beach is one of the cleanest in the world. Captain Gorge's is a great place to eat sea food among other delightful dishes. Samona Monique Seymore
Captain George is great for unlimited crab legs. The line is extremely long most of the time but the trick is to go with 2 people as they usually call smaller tables and you can go in sooner than waiting in a huge line.
Problem with VB is that the best time to move here was in the 80s and 90s and people who did that are finding their homes at triple or quadruple the value. Back in 2008-10 time frame you could have sold your home at nearly 5x what you spent just 10 years before that. Not only pay the mortgage back but have enough to buy a huge house elsewhere.
We’re military and are obviously living here for that reason. However, we feel so lucky to live an area that is so good for raising families! Lots of outdoor options as you mentioned, and great schools
My family and I are flying in at the end of this month to look at potential homes. I’ve lived in a village of 900 my whole life so I’m really excited to be in an area with plenty of life
Oh wow, yes that will be quite the change for all of you! I'd love to help you find a place, give me a call or shoot me a text if I can help! 757-620-5613
I go here every summer for vacation u have to go. Me and my brother stayed up till 3 and I got up in the morning and I can just see the ocean and its awsome!
YES!! Named #1 Best Big City in the US in 2019! We'll take it, it's truly a beautiful city! We have so many nature outdoor opportunities, so much for you to explore. Thanks for commenting - if you're ever out this way please give us a call!
Watching this now bec i move to VA beach in summer for 4 months for work reality ressons, and am super intrigued about how it is up there im from Miami and am 19 😁
I am going for a visit soon to look for property. What other places would you recommend similar to Rudee's. Coming from FL I love the cabana laid back style bars with awesome food.
You will love Rudee's! They have an outside area that I bet you'll enjoy. I"m drawing a blank on other places, let me think on it! Hope you may reach out for us to help you find a property too!!
All good information. If you wanna save money in any of these neighborhoods I can help! Solar is now cheaper than paying the local energy company dominion!
True! That was me when I first moved here almost 20 years ago - although truth be told I still have to stop and watch them when I see them, I love watching them pass over.
3:39 lol i work rt there to the left is a wedding venue/events building.....pro: you do get all 4 seasons but va has bipolar weather in the winter one day can be 70 degrees next day its snowing 😑....Con: DONT ever go to Pembroke Mall its the worst mall and their mall look like the oceanfront in the winter year round lol noones barely ever there go to Lynnhaven or Mccarthur in norfolk.... Con: dont try driving on the highway heading towards norfolk or coming into va beach between like 430 and 630 bc traffic is horrible! Con: i used to work by oceana landing strip and the noise is way to loud need ear plugs and tylenol its nice to see/hear if ur a tourist... Pro: its one of the nicest safest cities in Virginia.....Con: if your a tourist lol the motto is Come On Vacation, Leave On Probation! So watch what you do....if you plan on drinking and driving dont lol catch an uber lyft etc.....va beach is one of the highest cities in America to get a dui dont try it a 20 dollar ride is better then thousands and thousands of dollars you will have to pay once convicted...Con: Police will fine or charge you for almost anything Va Beach system is a very money hungry city......Pro: overall its a good place to live 757
Just beware of the drivers!!!! Distracted driving is never OK, and is especially dangerous on pedestrian heavy Atlantic Ave. Please show consideration for the safety and survival of others. Pull off the roads to film monologues and to do other non-driving related activities.
Hello!! So yes, Mount Trashmore is the park, and actually used to be a landfill. The name started out as a joke between locals, but the name quickly stuck and so it remains today. It's a gorgeous park, locals love it and I'm so glad to have it to enjoy as well!
@@jayjay-bz3rr Hey! They do take work from volunteers as well. I have cleaned up at Mt. Trashmore ( My little nephew calls it "trash mount more" LOL he is 6) and other places and historical streets in VB. Call the city parks office they will direct you on how you can help keep our town lovely !
Does it get cold here I’m in nyc and I’m use to the cold weather I love the cool weather , I hate the heat so does the heat get High and does it last ? Is it a good city area or is it just beaches
While we do get all 4 seasons here, it is hot and humid over the summer. 90's most of the summer for sure! Rarely get snow, and if it does snow it can be gone the next day - not that we don't sometimes get a good snow, but it's rare and can be years in between for a really good snow.
Actually no, taxes are not high here in Virginia - but it's all relative to where you are coming from. Check out wallethub.com for more info, according to them we rank as #38 in the list of all 50 states, ranked from #1 with the highest taxes, all the way down - so I'd say that's pretty good for us! Where do you currently live?
We live in Lynchburg and love VB. It's an easy and doable 3.5 hour drive. Oceanfront could be much nicer with fewer Sunsations and gimmicky souvenir shops...
Virginia Beach could also use a better night club…there are only a few small night clubs on the strip except for Peabody’s, but their dance floor and choice of music isn’t all that great
I’m considering moving here pending a job change but am worried about the military presence. I once lived in Dayton and worked at Wright-Patterson, which essentially controls the town. It was probably the worse experience of my life and nearly ruined my career. It was very cult-like, weird, provincial, and redneck. Fortunately, this time around I wouldn’t be working at DOD, but I’m scared of getting into that type of environment again and am wondering if the experience in Dayton was a one-off thing or if this is typical for any town with a large DOD presence. I would be working in DC and commuting one day each week while working at home for the rest. I considered Virginia Beach because my husband (we’re gay) is retired and wanted to live in a beach location in retirement, and the real estate market from what we’ve seen appears to be too competitive for us all the way down to a Richmond. Any advice is appreciated.
Sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. I definitely have NOT had any such experiences here, everyone is grateful for our military here. Give me a call, I'd be happy to discuss more with you. Yes the market is still a bit competitive, but with the right strategies we continue to help our clients buy homes in our area. It'd be my honor to assist you and your husband, happy to answer all questions and help you determine if our area might be the right place for you. Reach out anytime! 757.620.5613
Initial view of this video is very superfical, I can tell you're pandering to higher income persons. I came here to get info on a big move that I'm considering, and NEED info on cost of living. I'm not impressed by the video quality, you need to do voiceovers instead of recording videos in the wind... The bass is just too much from the wind... I really like the area but I highly doubt I'll ever recommended this channel
Cost of living for a rental? There are so many specifics into that - hit up the Homesnap app and you can search rentals in the areas you're considering to give you a better feel for monthly costs rent wise. As for the critiques, always welcome - I do not claim to be an expert in making videos - I'm a realtor after all! ;-)
VB has some great potential, but it is still a dump and outdated in a number of areas. It’s better than what it use to be, but still needs improvement. I’ll take Charleston, SC over VB.
Nice video, great city. It's interesting that "we are very patriotic" is on the pro side of this video. I'm from Europe, Germany and for most people here a patriotic neighbourhood would be a VERY big downside :D
In this country it's the best. I can get you a job in 4 hrs. Alorica, Amazon or Amazon Fresh, Lyft is great in the summer going to the beach. Kroger also and from there you can move up in customer service or while you find another job in your field.
Yeah you will have to pay rent for longer than a couple of months. Taxes are super high and homes are just stuck on top of each other at this point. Better in the 80s
