My 1992 4Runner died in 2018 and it has almost had 400,000 miles. I went every where with it. It was a great rock crawler.

Don’t worry - it got reincarnated as my 2018 TRD Off-Road Premium. I’ve got 60k miles on it already, many trails. I’ll take good care of it, promise! Looking at 500k miles... 💪🏼

I own a 2000 4runner here are my thoughts: Pros: Insanely reliable Made in Japan Easy to find parts Easy to work on Lots of aftermarket support Nice interior (for a 2000 interior it's aged well, add in a aftermarket radio and it's hard to tell it's 20 years old) Nice exterior styling (IMO this is the best gen for styling, it's simple but it's a good kind of simple) Rear roll down window (seriously why don't more autos offer this? It's awesome) Awesome 4x4 drive Huge trunk space Cons: It's slow (but then again what do you expect?) It's a gas hog (again what do you expect) It has a tiny fuel tank

We bought two! A Limited and a SR5. Sold the MB ML and a Caddy. I'm getting over 21MPG with the Limited. My wife is driving the SR5 and she's getting around 19. We absolutely LOVE these vehicles........

I am strongly considering purchasing a 4runner. I currently have an 06 Honda CR-V and can fill up for under $30. I feel like that mpg is going to kill me. Only conflicting area

@@tca7421 You can tell by my comment that I'm what is called a "feather foot" driver. On my last trip of about 150 miles, just a few days ago, I averaged, according to the gauge in the 4 runner, over 20 miles per gallon. Your driving habits will determine your MPG. And, the 4 runner doesn't need premium. Wishing you luck. GO FOR IT..........

Greg Joubert Definetly love the 4Runner for what it is. It's a Swiss Army knife of a vehicle. I am thinking about adding one to the family. It is pretty bulletproof and reliable. My main hang up is power delivery. I live at 7k feet and frequent the mountains of the Southwest. I hear about a lot of gear hunting with this vehicle. I don't really have that issue with my Tundra 5.7. I am still thinking of a 5th gen. but curious what the next gen will bring. Hope this finds you well and appreciate your channel!

We have a 2019 with no power issued. We’ve used it to tow 3,500 pounds with no issues. But we live in Cincinnati. My buddy lives in Denver and has used it to tow with no issues. Probably worth a test drive in your area.

Thank so for the info! The dealership here rents them and is willing to cut me a good deal for a week. Think that will give me more time with it to do the things I want. The test drive was good but think I'll get it up in the mountains.

I really wish toyota could get the 4runner up to 18-19/23-24mpg. The giant older looking knobs on the interior are ugly as sin, too. Add in an automatic soft close trunk/back hatch to that, and it would be perfect.

I am in the same boat, I think will go with current model for now because when the 6th comes and if good it going to be hard to get discount on, so figure wait one year until all the hype settles down. . also just Incase any issues or recall, you never know

@@mohcheddar it may take take a hit given new generation but if the generation is not liked or got issues than I think 5th will actually appreciate. Had to say but historically they hold value. I actually wanted to buy 3-5 yr used 5 th gen with 30-40k miles but no point for $5-10k but new one, it’s crazy even private sales asking close to retail. I gave up going for new 2021 Best option but again like you on the fence about 2023 although two years away. My hope is get one now and if the 6th gen is truly big improvement than I can sale the 5th in 3 yrs and not lost much. Tough call. The new bronco ppl are pre ordering at insane prices of 60-70k. If the 4Runner is competitive and ppl go crazy over it in the first 1-2 yrs price will be premium which again I think the 5 than will whole more value. Just my thinking. Would like to hear anyone thoughts.

Here we are, 2 years later, and the identical vehicle has an MSRP of $7000-$10,000 more per model. SR5 Premium 4x4 is now $47,000- the same as a TRD Pro 2 years ago. Toyota is ramping up the price in anticipation of the 2025 model year, when the SR5 Premium 4x4 will have an MSRP of $56,000 (write it down, I guarantee that price to be within 1%). In other words- If you bought a 4Runner in 2020 it will have the same value in 2025- drive it 5 years free of charge!!!

It’s the cheat code of vehicles. Buy a bare bones base model, drop $3000 on a 2” lift, tires and wheels, put 30k miles on it over 2 years, sell it for what you paid for it. Repeat

issues : very sensitive steering wheel u feel everything that touch the tire / poor head light/poor sound system which stupid sound output / one usb port for data input where Honda have 2 / hate black interior/wipers never clean the windshield/off road model comes with street tire /gas killer / and not a great clearance from ground /no build in app in entune 3/ no blind spot / no front cam ..

It is a bull. Keep throwing roughness at it, and it will gladly oblige with a smile. Can go on and on. Only thing I don't like (and that is with all Toyotas) is gear ratios - keeps gear hunting if under heavy load

Adam Smith do you tail gate? We go to state park, beach and lake a lot. Having the door open up gives you an awesome place to seat and enjoy the outdoor. Also, it could be opened by remote control, not with this lexus. How are you going to put your groceries into the back when your hands are tied?? Went with the pilot!!!
