My husband and I are from Austin, Tx. We have been considering moving to the Denver area for a while and are taking a trip in October to see if we like it! Denver is such a quick flight to Austin so we would be able to go back and see family so easily.
Try to spend a work/school week there and not just a weekend if u didn’t consider that already. My wife & I have been many times but it was more around post-covid and during our vacation, summer time than “school time”. I like it but I would like to take my advice & spend time outside of vacation time to really get a feel for the city & surrounding areas.
Don’t forget to mention all the shooting in down town Denver where the night life is…The huge homeless and drug users near union station and through out the down town area. The large rat population that is now spreading to the suburbs that are 5 miles away. Don’t forget to mention all the trash now alone the streets, highways. Everything from paper, bottles, to mattresses, couches, you name it you’ll see it along the roads. You’ll even find trash in the mountains like heading up to popular destinations. People just don’t care to keep Colorado beautiful. Don’t forget the bad pollution and now that so many people moved here traffic sucks big time.
I've been living in Austin Tx for 15 years and before it got popular to move here. Also I have been in Texas practically all my life and was wanting a fresh start somewhere else. Thinking of Colorado. So thanks for this video.
@@donjuan8402 lol, after finding out how much yall pay for car registration and renewal I definitely am not going to Colorado. It's only $75 here, while my car is almost $300 there. No thanks.
If you live in the Midwest or South, and you’re female, Denver is better simply because (for now) you still have bodily autonomy there (unlike Texas), and can get an abortion if you need one. This is not the case in the stupider states.
Concur about Connecticut. But Colorado does also have a real problem with violent rightwing ideologues that it needs to face up to, and rectify, if it’s to become the sort of welcoming, open-hearted, and cosmopolitan place I think a good portion of the people there WANT It to be. @@SomewhereInColorado
HEEEEYY. Happy St Patricks Day. It's all about the layers. t-shirt-hoodie-vest-jacket. if you have these you are in good shape. since there's not much humidity, the sun vs shade are completely different. check out this vid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M_BaNXHnuEo.htmlsi=UzKdT71QBSMIFGjq
@@SomewhereInColorado Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit happy st patricks day to you too 💚 ☘. A lot of People on several different sites seem to think colorado is not the place to relocate to. They have a very negative opinion..what do you think? Are they overly biased in one way? It looks so beautiful there so it's hard to believe Theirs so much negative opinion?maybe I m missing something 🤔
@@eliza-uh1sk Happy St. Patricks Day. I'd say it depends on what you are moving for and what kind of budget you are working with. The mountains are absolutely amazing and having this access to them is so great. Traffic, pricing, and camps downtown are probably the biggest downsides i hear. What have you been hearing?
@@SomewhereInColoradojust hearing theirs high crime lots of migrants people don't pick up dog poo they don't want any more new people coming in., unfriendly people that dont want to get to know you. The locals are getting out because of gun crime. Not to go there. I d be relocating with my partner who will work there but we would Tey a suburb and roughly 70 to 80k per year living salary if that's even enough?
Oh god. Of course they're from Texas - me, also from Texas I will say, if you are moving here from out of state, try to at least live by a couple of rules: try to assimilate a bit and don't be an a**hole. You will find that the real natives, the people who are second, third, fourth generation are the kindest people who will give you the clothes off their backs. Do not take advantage of their kindness, keep in mind, though, that they are incredibly fierce and protective of their city and state. Do not try to make this place something that its not.

🤣I had to rewind a second during the construction part. They were talking about how bad traffic was and you said cranes everywhere, but I thought you said Koreans everywhere. I was like, there is no way he just said that 🤣
Okay I'd just like to point out something cool, when at 7:05 you said to give yall a like, the Like button got highlighted by a rainbow streak around the border and it looked so neat! Here take my like btw, great video! ❤ I used to live in Denver 6 years ago and am moving back soon. 🥺
I guess you’d have to be from Texas to consider it walkable lol because by most standards I find the sprawl disgusting. Along with air pollution and overall blandness. If anyone reads this please don’t do it on a whim like I did because a couple ppl you know loved it. I find it’s largely ppl who only lived in one of the nearby states/midwest their whole lives that find it great. Or if you’re obsessed with mountain sports and are willing to spend an hour in traffic just to see anything remotely pretty. It was the most miserable year and a half of my life. And I lived in Vegas 🤢.
Where are u from? I’m from New Orleans & have visited nevada, Cali, Washington plenty of times and found the mountainous areas amazing as a child. Those ideas & feelings have stuck with me and I really like Colorado area but find it hard moving there because there’s no waterfronts or really water anywhere except the river.
Moved here from Japan in October '22... Other Pros: - Maverik is a pretty decent Convenience Store - Some local businesses are just over-the-top friendly and awesome - Seriously lots to explore, hard to get bored - Tons of Mexican cuisine -??? Cons: - Middle Name Requirement for Drivers License... - Psycho drivers - Dank weed smell can get annoying after a while - No oceans/real beaches - Too much suburbia and not enough old downtowns like Old Littleton, Parker, etc.
the closest bite will be Brooklyn's At The Pepsi Center. You can park your car and in the lot and walk over there. obviously can be busy if you try going in the last hour before an event. If you want something nicer, you have Ocean Prime, Capital Grill, or EDGE Restaurant just across Speer and super accessible
@@SomewhereInColorado A dad cellphone belt, but for snacks and milk, made especially for stoners. (and give it a life alert button except for if you get lost and/or run out of weed, shaped like a cannabis leaf)
Keep in mind while Denver is certainly more walkable than Texas, it isn’t as walkable relative to several US cities (Seattle, Portland, DC, Chicago, Philly, Boston , NYC just to name a couple). It certainly is not walkable at all compared to worldwide standards of walkability. Just want to let others know that! Fun vid though!
You should probably have someone speak to this who are coming from someplace civilized - Texas, that ain’t. If you’ve lived in some podunk place in the middle of the country, Denver might (LOL) seem better than where they came from. But if you’re coming from NY, LA, Europe, Japan, Canada, basically anywhere other than the Midwest or South, it’s better there, than Denver. To them, Denver is going to be boring, provincial, narrow-minded, bizarrely religious, and stupidly rightwing. The only advantage Denver has, is that it’s cheaper, but that’s balanced out with the fact that there are no good jobs in Denver, so if you still want to get paid a real salary, you’re still gonna need a remote job based somewhere like… NY or LA.
With Car registration, if you're a disabled military veteran the registration is free. I don't know if this is included with anyone that's disabled normally, I'm caregiver to a disabled veteran and since we co-own the vehicle I use to care for him, we don't pay registration fees. At least that has been my experience in Colorado.
Denver is small. I don’t know why it advertises as though it’s so great. The food is nasty due to elevation, the city ends only after 20 miles and I am talking metro. There are hardly any businesses and it closes early. Don’t believe ppl from Colorado. They are truly delusional
Yeah I didn’t see much to do when I went the few times I went. The food was mostly Mexican & burgers but I liked the vibe because it was different. I’m from New Orleans & tend to get a kick out of cooler temp, mountainous areas. Where are u from?
I'm going to be moving there from California in a couple months.... housing is sad.... for the other reason. I could have been living like a king for how much I've paid.
The cost of living in the Denver metro area was cheap when I moved here in 1997. But the cost of living here has almost tripled since the late 1990s. A 750-square-foot house near Lakeside was sold for $650,000 last year! The native Coloradians are nice and friendly, but they share too much personal information. They tell you their life story when you first meet them. If you want to live comfortably in the Denver metro area, you need to earn at least $150K a year.
