At 5 minutes 33 in the video, you drove past me in the Tesco Class 2 in the layby 😂😂 Such a small world! On the supermarkets, you can get so much POA and breaks its unreal. (Which is advantage/con, depending how you see it). It was my choice, but once I hit max tacho hours. Split my break to get 4x15 hours in a week. Plus another two 13 hour shifts. 86 hours in a week!!! But I only "worked" 39 hours. 47 hours of paid breaks and poa!😂😂 Paid by the hour. On my POA/Breaks, I'm studying a new language. Love the isolation, as I can fully concentrate on that 1 task. And get 80% of my sleeping done in the lorry at work. Its lovely with a Class 1 bed and night heater. Then when I go home, I only need another 1-2 hours sleep. And the rest of the day is mine. It suits me. But everyone is different. 1 important thing for new drivers it consider if you have any young kids. I wouldn't really recommend this profession if you do. But there are Mon-Fri trucking jobs out there; but you'll just get paid accordingly. Like you said, swings and roundabouts mate. No job is perfect. Another big point that you missed, is that there are so many diferent forms of trucking! Tankers. Supermarkets. Containers. Curtansiders. Tail lift. Skips. ADR. Bulk carriers. Low loaders. HIAB. There's a job to suit everyone!! When I was having my break in the layby, I did think I saw you drive past 😅

When I was FLT driver I often tried talk to HGV drivers. There are pros & cons but non of them was looking back. Driving HGV's now I can say this is first time ever when I don't have that feeling like I "don't want go to work". Sometimes even 2 days off is too much. Every day is different direction NE SE SW NW. Every second you see different things. The only thing I regret is I had to get license years ago

Tesco RDC at Daventry - 2 hours wait for a normal trailer 3 or more hours for a double decker, but you are obliged to wait in drivers rest room which is ok!

Get the social awkwardness bit. Before HGV I worked in retail for 22 years ended up miserable around people. ( hats off to anyone working in a front line service industry ) . Being on your own has it's advantages and now I enjoy the occasional social events

A good place for new drivers to start would be on a tipper. They're much more likely to employ you with zero experience than other companies

What sort of shift patterns can be done in a HGV? I can only really see either starting at 5/6AM or 8-10PM for mornings/nights. Is there no flexibility? starting at midday or later in the morning or evenings? Despise working so early in the morning and also cant really do night shifts due to social responosiblities so is there a position for me out there?
@truckitprayle

When i was doing agency work they had all different start times from morning, afternoon, evenings and nights. With a regular job it would probably be hard but agency its definitely doable

Hey, not sure if you've covered it in a previous video but are you still on track to move to Canada? I remember watching your videos about it probably about a year ago and I thought I'd come check on your channel and it looks like your still in the UK? Is it not all its hyped up to be, or are there other factors involved or are you still going ahead? Sorry if these are a bit personal questions but I'm interested in doing it myself, so that's why I'm asking. Stay Safe

Hey man, yeah it's all been put on hold for a few reasons. We are going out there in july to get married and gona do some research on the best way to do it. There is alot more to it that we originally thought so if we do decide to go ahead i will definitely vlog it for you guys!

Offer 1: delivery company, B licence is sufficient, 42 hours pw, £13,20 ph for an easy job. Offer 2: transport company, C licence plus experience required, ??? hours pw, £14,50 ph for a seemingly hard job. It doesn't seem like it is worth investing in upgrading. Any opinions?
@Nickbaldeagle02
@Nickbaldeagle02 7 месяцев назад
It's an extra £2704 a year which is your class 1 training paid for then the following year it's a nice holiday paid for. THEN you'll have 2 years under your belt and you can start looking at £15-18 an hour jobs. Invest a further £600 to get ADR and that opens up the £20-30 an hour jobs. I myself have my ADR exam this Friday. An agency that supplies drivers to HOYER has jobs at £23.50 an hour. They've told me to inform them the minute I get my ADR card. So to sum up, yes it's worth the time and money to get your class 1. You have to put a bit of effort in.

@@Nickbaldeagle02First, thanks for running your channel Prayle. Nick, thanks for the details. I look for ads just to learn about the market and have realistic expectations later. I have never seen any offers above £20/hr but found as low as £13 for 7,5t white goods delivery. It’s a joke, it can’t be serious. Only the bottom jobs are advertised on the popular jobseeker platforms maybe? Like some other industries, the proper jobs are available only through established connections?
