We are RV newbies & just completed a 4 week journey through the middle states. Our preference was backroads & small towns As you said the people are much friendlier, small locally owned business puts the customer first & the small town city parks!! Oh my - beautiful & inviting

I love the little behind-the-scenes moment at 5:51, how you use your hands as the clapper for making the cut, but still left it in. It's nice to learn how the magic happens.

Pippie, I take a screw driver and pop a hole in the bottom of my oil filter before removing it. Is so much easier than worrying about oil spilling out of the filter upon removal. I also remove the filter first then drain the oil next . It seems to work more smother that way.

In a lot of these towns in rural Montana, come 5pm they roll up the town and go home, and in some they close on Friday and don't open till Monday!

This video was so interesting with you under the RV. Love seeing Bobby Jean swatting bugs in the background. I just got back from evacuating from my home in Tampa, FL to a great campground in Mississippi - Little Black Creek Campground in Lumberton, MS. It was beautiful, on a lake, in the woods. The stars were the brightest I have ever seen and I saw the Milky Way. People were friendly. The only downside was, even though they had fresh veggies from the fields, I could not find any organic veggies at all. Settled for what they had as it was only a few days. By the way, we bit the bullet in Tampa with no damage or flooding, just a ton of branches and tree debris. I went so far west to keep the travel trailer from getting damaged by high winds. In fact, the winds picked up in MS and we moved again to Vadalia, LA on the Mississippi River to stay safe.

When you are removing the oil filter, you can stay clean if you take a plastic freezer bag and put it over the filter when making the last few turns. The spillage gets caught in the bag.

Most males are born with an inherent knowledge of which way to turn an oil filter to tighten and untighten it. This is a knowledge embedded deep in our DNA and further enhanced by large quantities of testosterone. This is also why we never read the instructions before assembling cheap furniture. If we can't do this without instructions the furniture is obviously defective. Sorry to go off topic but some things need to be said.

I enjoy travel videos because it's something I will never do. I use to be an Art Director and Graphic Designer during the day and at night I "Bounced" at a Strip Club and Street Raced when I wasn't Bouncing. Then at 31, I realized I couldn't retire on Social Security and made a career change for a job with a pension. The older you get you start thinking about the future. The best retirement was in Law Enforcement so I became a Deputy Sheriff for 28 years. This allowed me to retire at 60 and by working overtime it allowed me to buy a house and build Hot Rods for myself. My wife was an Art Director too but when the economy crashed and worked dried up, she retired at 58. My wife often says, "Thank God you had the job you did" since she only gets Social Security. At 60, my house was paid off at 20 years and all of our cars are paid off. The best thing? I didn't have to go through ObamaCare. The County gives me medical for life. Since my pension is so good, I haven't drawn Social Security because I don't need it. My wife's Social Security goes into the Bank for a rainy day.

Credit Unions instead of Bank of America! Most of them participate in "shared branches" and you can do your banking at any participating credit Union. Those tend to be way easier to find than a big national bank.

I have a BOA account and couldn't be happier. Once while participating in a large event in a major US city I misplaced my car for 5 days and only had 35 cents and an energy bar. On the second day I spied a large BOA sign on the top of a skyscraper and made my way to it. I had my driver license for id and ask if they could give me money from my account. The guy who was helping me looked at my I'd, accessed my account, asked me the security question, then asked how much I wanted. I said about $300 should do it as I might be there a few days. He knew the economy of Miami better than I and suggested he void my debit card and issue me a new one so I could activate it by making a withdrawal at the counter, then if I needed more I could simply go to any ATM. I currently am not home as I have property in a state where BOA has no offices or ATMs. Instead of paying a fee to use an off network ATM I make grocery and supply purchases at Wal-Mart and get cash back. No fee. For deposits I have been using the BOA app which takes a photo of the check and I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Safe travels, don't misplace your rv or car and have lots and lots of fun!

At least passing through small town America you always have another option later in the day the next day or a couple of days later. Imagine living where your local grocery store has a produce department that would fit in your average bedroom. Then imagine an hour and a half round trip Drive to a bigger grocery store where it's twice as big. Then if you want to go to one of your brand name grocery stores like Smith's or Walmart it's a three and a half hour round trip Drive. There in Wyoming we have to do a lot of planning around our groceries, but I love living here.

Hey Pippi. Just stumbled across your channel, and going through some of your old videos, one where you mention you couldn't find a BOA ATM. Got a solution for the traveling ATM troubles. Charles Schwab has an ATM card that credits you anywhere, any bank for any ATM charges. So, you can use it anywhere and no fees. Not a.plug, just use them myself for our of town cash needs. Hope that helps next trip.

I grew up in a small town. There were 3,000 people, three grocery stores, four service stations, one stop light flashing, we were the county seat. Stores were closed on Sundays. I was near Amarillo and had to get gas, I bought it from a church, the only fuel in town. I also noticed that you attached an extra tube to your oil input which seemed to be higher than your funnel, due pasa?
@PippiPeterson

Interesting story. Yes the funnel is lower so the tube has to be manipulated a bit

Glad to see you fill the filter before installing, you would be surprised how many people dont do that, and run their engine dry till the oil primes through the system. I have people that do that for a living not do that. A big thumbs up.
@johndough9187
@johndough9187 7 лет назад
A lot of engines have the filter positioned after the oil circulates through the engine, not before, so as long as there's oil in the pan where the pump can get it, an empty filter makes no difference. It fills up when the oil returns toward the pan after it was pumped through the engine.

I love small towns! Would rather be in small town than a big city, much safer. No gangs or Antifa out here! Small town groceries, often not better than gas station food. If you need organic, vegetarian, gluten free, etc, stock up before you leave a town with a real grocery store. Also, a lot of family owned RV parks don't take plastic, so have paper checks, or wads of cash. Gas up at truck stops. I work online, and I had to spend $600+ on a cell booster and antenna, plus I have Verizon. I burn up on average 22 GBs a month, so don't skimp on a cheap plan. :)

Oil changing can be a lot easier, and safer, than this. Get a pan drain valve and you are done with a splashing mess. Fram and Fuji are two brands. Just put a clear plastic tube on the valve and drain it directly into a plastic jug. The best filter is a K&N with a one-inch hex nut on the end. Makes it easy to reach with an extension and ratchet wrench--especially in the high reach situation of RVs. And, yes, wear goggles when working under a vehicle. Going to a hospital to get a metal particle removed from your eye will underscore that, speaking from personal experience : -)

I am glad to see there are people that listen like you do. thanks. Well that is all for now, ED is very busy today. have to get back to work. I await your next video. xxxoooxxx Jim

Idea for you Pippi, Maybe you would enjoy you would enjoy the necessary crawling around underneath vehicles more if you hot walmart up and buy yourself a yoga mat verses a towel or small sheet, blankets. quickly rolls up for storage and much more cushion between you and the gravel/ dirt ..

Great oil change video! I am older and have spent decades in Wyoming, AZ, TX under the stars. I totally get what your saying about not wanting to do that forever!

Do you grease the U-joints and other under carriage fittings, and check rear end fluid level, when you do the oil change? Enjoy your videos and made me smile when you sweetly asked for the borrowed muscle.

You don't really need to pre-fill your oil filter in a relatively small engine like yours.. The oil pump will fill it for you in 1 or 2 seconds and there will be enough residual oil already coating the moving parts to keep them protected in this short time.. plus it's a lot easier if you don't.. It's a good idea though to pre-fill your fuel filter alright especially in diesel engines..

LOL! You're so handy. Love your videos. Especially this one. Love all the small town tips while hanging out under your rig changing the oil. Nice meeting your friend under the rig as well. 🌓⭐️😬🤘✌️👍🌻😆 WOW! $8 is pretty pricey for a tiny jar of jam. 🍓🍇 Does anyone else notice your next door neighbor with the fly swatter? Funny! Cute grocery store story BTW. Safe travels! Peace! 🌈✌️🌈
